  • 5 easy steps to grow Carolina reaper pepper
    step 1 - sow seeds in 3x3 inch plastic pot
    step 2 - when they have 2-3 true leaves transplant them to individual pots.
    step 3 - pruning or topping
    cut the top of chilli plants. This will help to produce more side shoots. The plants will be more bushy and eventually produce more chillies.
    step 4 planting
    plant your chilli plants in 12 x12 inch containers
    soil mix :
    - garden soil
    - garden compost
    - multi purpose compost
    - slow released fertilizer or fertilizer of your choice
    step 5 feeding
    When they produce flowers and young chillies, I feed them every 2 weeks with tomato food and seaweed extract.
    *** If you live in cold climate, please grow them in the greenhouse. Place the containers at the sunniest place. They will give you lots of chillies with best flavour.
    *** Don't worry if you have lots of chillies, you can freeze them or dry them in the oven. You can make your own chilli powder, too.

    The shape of the fruit resembles another variety, such as Big Red Mama. Carolina Reaper has a slightly different fruit shape. There are fruits with a tail and often without a tail at the end of the fruit. You didn't have quite the same phenotype as is usually the case with Carolina Reaper.

      I bought these chilli seeds from a company and they put the label as Carolina reaper. Maybe something went wrong with the breeding. However, the chillies are extremely hot.

      These resemble a ghost/naga/death spiral type pepper. Reaper looks more like dragons breath or 7pot.

    To some novice gardners out there, You can also try lst by tying the top of the plant "90ish" degrees horizontal to the ground. and train the main shoot to grow sideways. This allows the side branches to get more light and grow at an even rate to the top shoot. Less strain on the plant and wont stall growth. Topping certainly works well. But personlly i prefer the low stress method. Wicked nice result tho thamks for the vid just revisiting my love for growing super hots this summer. First time in 10 years. Have missed it🥹

    I am doing right now. My first time. Only 10 out of 20 germinated so far. I have a couple of questions: How often do you water them after greens papers start to appear? And I noticed that when red peppers appear there aren't a lot of leaves left. Do you pinch of the leaves yourself or do the just fall of by themself? Thank you

    • @Ji-pa-ta-garden
      @Ji-pa-ta-garden  10 місяців тому

      I am not sure about the figure of npk plus I use different brands. For Miracle-gro all purpose slow release fertilizer, it is 17-9-11. I sometimes use granule fertilizer 7-7-7 and it works fine. 14-14-14 would be great as well.

    Before your seeds germinated how often did you water the soil?

    • @Ji-pa-ta-garden
      @Ji-pa-ta-garden  10 місяців тому

      None. I normally water the seeds before I cover them with a plastic bag. After germination the compost is still moist. It takes around 4-5 days to water them again. However, it depends on the compost or soil. If you feel it's dry, you should water them.

    • @Ji-pa-ta-garden
      @Ji-pa-ta-garden  9 місяців тому

      Yes, I do. However, it depends on where you live. In UK I normally sow chilli seeds in winter and I put my seedlings on the windowsill to get the most of light and sunshine. But if it's very hot, you should protect very young seedlings from strong sunshine.

    🥰hi, you have some gorgeous plants! I would like some advice from you, my Carolina plants are 50 cm tall, they have many flowers but not yet fruit, they are full of leaves even in the lower part near the ground, can I remove those low leaves? Thank you!

    • @columelvin3081
      @columelvin3081 3 місяці тому

      You can remove lower leaves as if they have contact with soil they can be an avenue for disease and fungal infections, but any branch is a possible source of chilies so I leave them

    I am flabbergasted at my Carolina Reaper chilli plant. I thought they would only grow to around 4 feet tall, mines just gone over 6 foot 4 inches tall and nearly 5 foot wide!! I had to take it out of the green house and put it under the car canopy as it was getting out of hand. Fed it on seaweed fertilizer every two weeks, and blood fish and bone on its last transplant.
