I can’t help but to point this out 😅 but by watching your lapse I can see that your reaper receives way too little sun light each passing day. It looks like to be in the shade most of the day. Chilies require tremendous amount of sunlight. Direct sunlight. Minimum 10 hours a day for best result. I’m pretty sure your reaper would had matured much faster this way :)
Yeah. Mine had grown flowers after around 60th day because I exposed it to full sunlight after it had about five leaves grown on it. In this video its almost 90th day before the flowers were visible. Poor pepper longing for sunlight. You can see its leaves lose vitality every moment it turns too dark in the room. 🥲
OMG your seeds sprouted in Day 2 in February 😮 I bought the seeds from Ed's official website and planted them in July. I even clinged wrapped it for humidity and placed it in a warm, sunny window sill. It's been 2 weeks now😢 and nothing yet
I got about 20 - 30 peppers out of it. If you are able to overwinter your plant, you can keep it and it´s going to produce peppers again in the following years.
Recommend fish imulsion & bone meal & maybe couple rounds of diluted Epsom salt. In all my super hot pepper growing I've never had it take that long? Start mid March and I've had best luck with 10 gallon pots I get from nursery and we'll drained soil. Nice peppers though! and nice time laps video.
@@yolk001 damn. im starting seeds tomorrow, hoping to have the plant in the ground about mid to late march. ive got some cayennes going right now and they sure are taking their time, about 7 days since germination.
Loved your video. I've got a couple of plants growing - about 3 months along now. I see a few buds and, looking at your video, they seem to have appeared a lot sooner than yours. I am trying to time the growth to coincide with our Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off set for Feb 19, 2022. I want to start up a pepper-eating contest with my Reapers as the final touch. A couple of questions: how long can you leave a pepper on the plant? And can you freeze them? Oh, a third one, if I might: if I make my own pot of chili, say 7 quarts, will one chili suffice?
Thanks, appreciate your comment. Concerning your questions. You can leave peppers on a plant as long as you like, they are going to fall off eventually. Yes, you can freeze peppers, but I´d reccomend you to dry them instead. I experienced dried peppers to be hotter than frozen ones, frozen peppers ironically seem to lose some of their former heat. You can use a dehydrator for excellent as well as long lasting results. When it comes to cooking peppers it depends on what heat levels you´re capable of coping with. For instance, my wife would probably die if I added one Carolina Reaper pepper to a 7 liter chili pot. I on the other hand might add a second or a third one. Good thing about that is, that you can also add the peppers afterwards to spice things up. I hope that helped. I wish you great success with your Chili Cook-Off and pepper contest.
@@JustinFromBSing I did. But the plants took on what I think was mold and the peppers (3) never really got to maturity - they were flavorful in the chili but not really that hot. I had one plant left that brought out 2 peppers (after the event) and I froze those and destroyed all the plants. Almost every leave had the mold on it - a white powdery, but sticky substance. Maybe the two in my freezer will work next year. I think maybe the climate here (very humid) is not conducive to the growth.

I'm from Bangladesh. Thanks a lot for Your video. I really enjoy it. Would you tell me how to plant and the whole process of growing this chilli? And how I order this seed from my country? And after planting this can I put it sunny environment or shadow environment? Hope you guide me the whole way. Thanks again
Hey. Good questions. I think I'll make a video about that. I don't know you can get theese seeds to your country though, since I'm from Europe. You should ask your local pepper stores.
I started mine in mid-July and will overwinter it for a strong spring start. Wish me luck. If it starts producing flowers in Winter, I'll pluck them until like mid-May.
Very nice Video. Did any of your your plants leafs get a tan speckling of dots and bloches on them? I have three growing outside in full sun but seem to have such an issue arise. I would be thankful on feedback from others.
I get that on the lower leaves. I'm pretty sure it's fertilizer burn. As long as your fertilizer is organic it should sort itself out with time. Just good consistent watering should fix the issue. If it starts to spread up the plant or gets worse check your soil ph and the ph of the water you're adding.
I was wondering my my little guy was taking so long to grow (7 weeks old), good to know I'm looking at 8 or so months before I'll get fruit. Quick question. What's the lifespan of this plant? I called it Lucifer, and I've grown rather attached.
A lot of work. Thanks for sharing that journey with us. Grown indoors in large pot for seed to finish right? That's what I want to try. Normal window light, or did you use a grow light? Very interesting in trying indoors without a greenhouse. Our growing season up north short & a Reaper tales 9 months right?
I had to swallow my pride and buy a reaper plant from ace hardware because for some reason these are finicky and very difficult to grow from seed. I’ve done most other peppers and all sorts of veggies from seed but for some reason reapers are just stubborn
I respect the effort you did, I love the video. One recommendation tho, always give your Carolina reaper calcium. Don’t throw away the egg shells, just put it in a blender and make sure it’s powder then pour it onto the soil if the reaper and repeat the process, then you’ll see tons of flowers blooming bc I saw the video and it has 5 or less fruits of chilies. I did the process with my reaper too and it worked, now it has 17 flowers blooming. Oh and also put coffee grounds too so it can boost up the flowers to bloom faster 👍🏽
Its growing ultra slow in early stages from lack of light needs hot direct sunlight. Get a 300w growlight and put it under that during first months and do another time lapse and compare!
I exposed mine to direct sunlight and after 20 minutes it would wilt, after I spray it some water and move the pot away somewhere cooler it would go back to normal. Should I just leave it there and pay no attention from the wilt or am i doing it right?

Great video. Next time use fertilizer or plant food. It took way too long for peppers.
I understand that the hotter the pepper, the longer it takes for it to fruit. In your experience, what do you do to speed the process?
Typical fertilizer is high in nitrogen which will stimulate plant growth over fruit growth. Let it do its thing, there's no rush.
