    Great video I've got an s5 arriving this week and can't wait to use the dual native iso. May I ask if you have a link to the rec 709 put you are using?

      Glad it was helpful! Hope you enjoy your new S5. I normally used the normal Rec 709 LUT from the Panasonic website, or I liked to use "Nicest" which is on the website too. pro-av.panasonic.net/en/cinema_camera_varicam_eva/support/lut/

    Thanks for sharing this video. Great work. Did you change the camera metering mode while you shoot this video?

      Multi-metering was used for this video 👍

    YS Please do a comparison with and without the upgraded vlog firmware. It would be good to see if its worth purchasing.

    I am so confused What should I do now while I was thinking to buy this camera. Because of Autofocus. Any suggestions for me please?

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  4 роки тому

      Is auto focus a deal breaker? There's no perfect camera, just the right tool for the right job. If auto focus is important then look at Canon or Sony... but they aren't perfect cameras either!

      Don't get Panasonic cameras for their autofocus. Get them for their superior image (dynamic range, color science, rendering of detail), IBIS and battery life. ;)

      As others have said, this isn't the camera for you if you will depend on CONTINUOUS autofocs. It is, however, pretty cable for AF-S when using native Panasonic lenses, and it is an excellent camera if you are interested in either vintage manual focus lenses, or in using manual focus with Panasonic's very good lenses. The S1 is a dream camera for those interested in manual focus.

      @@ManVersusCamera Very true! We are posting a video today using a Zeiss 85mm manual lens today!

    Great video, mate- Thanks for explaining the dual native ISO in an easy to understand way. I've had the S1 (plus V-log) for about 3 weeks now and have been getting up to speed on the features in order to do some vignettes in and around Dalat, where I live in Vietnam. Here's a trap I just discovered for idiot newbies like me: I just discovered that if you leave the image preset on V-log, even when you switch out of video mode, you are stuck with the low ISO of 640 for taking stills. I shoot stills in RAW using the Natural preset for monitoring, and as soon as I switched back to Natural, the lower ISOs became available again. Just a headsup for those who thought their camera was bust (like me).
    Re. all the AF comments- well, yeah- DFD contrast AF sucks compared with the Sony, Canon and Fuji phase detect systems, but they all suck at weather-sealing and build quality- swings and roundabouts. I went for the S1 for its strengths (it rains here for 6 mths of the year), and for what I plan to do, MF will be fine 80% of the time. My run & gun system is a Ricoh GRIII paired with a DJI Osmo Pocket, FWIW :))
    Cheers!

    Is this happening only in video or also in still mode?

    • @YourStoryStudios

      I wouldn't shoot photos in vlog. I've read there are different dual native iso levels in different picture profiles. If you do a google search it might show up 👍🔥

    Yup,...this is true. The S1 uses the same sensor as the S1H. (I'm told it's a close relative to the Sony FX7 sensor) The only difference between the S1 and S1H is the removal of the low pass filter on the S1. Since the dual native ISO comes from the EXMOR A/D converters, it's handing off those dual native gain values the same way. (It has two 0db's,...a "low" 0b and "high" 0db)

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! We are planning to do an EVA1 vs S1 comparison video to show the difference in having a low-pass filter!

      @@YourStoryStudios - Oh, the S1 will kill it. I have seen the two together. The EVA-1 is very nice....but that Sony front end that is on the S1/S1H is superb. I'm told that sensor is a very "close relative" to the sensor in the Sony XDCAM FX9. The EVA-1, I dont who who makes it.

      @@clifftotten7609 as long as the image doesn't look 'Sonyish" I'm fine with that. V-Log (real V-Gamut) has far better color than S-Log3 on the FX9 even to me also much better detail and texture rendering. The FX9 still struggles with weird magenta and purple hues in darker regions as well as huge and splotchy chromatic noise like the FS7, the A7sII, A73, FS5 etc did already.

    Great image, but very bad autofocus for travel reportage with gimbal. Its one reason to stop me of buying this camera (((

      Auto focus is very hit or miss. If auto focus is important then Canon or Sony would be better. But their cameras have limitations as well!
