    ✪ GAME SUMMARY
    Baldur's Gate 3 is a 2023 role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios. The game is the third main installment in the Baldur's Gate series, based on the tabletop role-playing system of Dungeons & Dragons. Baldur's Gate 3 has single-player and cooperative multiplayer elements. Players can create one or more characters and form a party along with a number of pre-generated characters to explore the game's story.
    Unlike previous games in the Baldur's Gate series, Baldur's Gate 3 has turn-based combat, similar to Larian's earlier games Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II; all combat is based on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules
    Baldur's Gate 3 takes place in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms during the year of 1492 DR, over 120 years after the events of the previous game, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and months after the events of the playable Dungeons & Dragons 5e module, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus.

      @@Bowskii They are right you need to do it as you've probably already missed two scenes (most do as they only occur if you long rest before reaching the druid camp). Some encounters are somewhat weighted so if you have a potential scene with Gale and another with Astarion you will only get the one with higher weighting and need to long rest twice to get both. Also keep a close eye on your companions there's a lot of moments in the game when you'll do something and get a ! over their head for specific dialogue about that action. A lot of these will just disappear if you just carry on and you'll miss them permanently.

    39:40 Astarion is a rogue, at level 2 he gets to have dash, hide and disengage as bonus actions, on top of the regular action ones he already had. Everyone else have them as regular actions only, that is the difference. Since you can use one movement, one action and one bonus action every turn it means he gets extra options. Having these as bonus actions means he can for example dash (normal action), attack an enemy, than dash again (from bonus action). or he can use the bonus action to hide at the end of a turn and be safe from attacks.. or he can move, hide (bonus action), than stealth attack (action). the point is he can do various combos with those bonus actions that other classes can't :)

      @@Bowskii To try and make it a bit clearer. Characters start with 1 action, 1 bonus action and 1 reaction each round. All your abilities are classed as one of these three and will use up the corresponding choice. For example Astarion can now hide as a bonus action leaving him an action and reaction then sneak attack as his action leaving him a reaction he can use to opportunity attack a retreating enemy. As various classes go up levels then unlock more interaction with these options e.g. a 2nd level fighter gets action surge allowing them to perform a second action in combat so they can attack twice to use up those two actions.
      Another thing that's not made clear is in combat those symbols above your action bar are showing you what you've used. The blue circle is action, the orange triangle is bonus action, the blue squares are spells (level indicated by number of squares e.g. 1 square level 1, 2 squares lvl 2. Cantrips are the outline square.). When you have a number it means you have multiple of it. When you have used it for that round it will gray out. If you click on them it will also display all the abilities you have that fall in that categroy. Reactions are found on the far right by themselves and will usually trigger automatically, possibly with giving you a choice to use them or not.

    1:26:47 Okay so this is a pretty cool detail you might not have realized. Notice how all the enemies are conveniently facing a specific door away from you? That's not by random chance.
    They are reacting to the rock you shot at 1:11:17. That hole you created leads to that room they are facing. They heard the sound of the rock dropping into the room and are planning to investigate it. If you jumped into that hole, they would have opened the door and trigger combat.
    Also, food doesn't restore your health. Not directly at least. Its for the camping mechanics. You'll get it once you do a long rest for the first time.
    Side Note: most characters can equip some kind of ranged weapon like a bow or crossbow. However with Barbarians, you may consider throwing as a decent alternative. You can throw bombs, handaxes and spears. Or even potions to heal allies. But thanks to your impressive strength, you can even pick up and throw barrels, crates or even small enemies like Dwarves and Goblins. Use small enemies as deadly projectiles. Shove is also a very powerful weapon. If an enemy is standing near a cliff or ledge, you can shove them off to deal big damage and possibly knock them prone, stunning them. If you throw/shove an enemy into an environmental hazard like a bottomless pit or lava, it is an instakill but you do lose loot.
    You can also move some of the small environmental objects like said barrels and crates. Sometimes, the game hides secret trapdoors or entrances behind a large pile of crates. Or you can use them to cheese certain situations. A ledge too high up to reach? Stack some nearby crates on top of each other and climb up.

      oh wow that's really kick ass actually its such a small detail but so cool they would put something so small in the game it makes a lot of sense though. Shadowheart’s charms claimed yet another victim xD
    Also, fyi:
    - Shift + C puts all of your grouped party members into hiding.
    - Drag and drop portraits to disconnect and ungroup them.
    - Turning your back towards enemies doesn't affect their chance to hit.
    - When you rolled a nat 1 (critical miss) vs an intellect devourer, the game asked you if you want to do a reckless attack, and you declined. Reckless attack gives you an Advantage. Advantage means you roll 2 dice, instead of 1, and pick the better result. Which means doing reckless attack would’ve saved you from critically missing.

    How multiclassing works: When you gain a level you can choose to add another class. Say for example, if you naturally level up as a barb, then you would he a lvl 2 barb. But if you wanted to muticlass, then you would be a lvl 1 barb and a lvl 1 Paladin (example). Whenever you level up after this, you can only level up one class out of these. So let's say you choose to level up barb, at level 3, then you will be a level 2 barb/level 1 paladin. And so on.. This is a feature to create really powerful builds, a great example is sorlock. A sorcerer warlock multiclass. Warlocks are half casters which means they can't cast many leveled spells per day. But when you multiclass them into sorcerer, which is also a Charisma based class just as warlock, suddenly you cast a shit ton of spells but also get the perks of being a warlock. The only downside to this is that because you can only level up one class at a time, you miss out of some really powerful high level class features. Say you play a barb/paladin, who by the end of the game is lvl 6 barb/lvl 6 paladin, then your character doesn't get access to some of the more powerful features from level 7-12.
    Hopefully that was helpful. Thanks for the long episode! Really appreciate it! Take you time with the game. Have fun!

    • @Bowskii
      @Bowskii  5 місяців тому +2

      That's really interesting and understanding so basically we don't want to multiclass until we get enough in the first one first? So if I want lets say 6-7 in barb and then the rest in pally then I should wait till level 6 to then get my other class?
      And no problem I love the long EP I feel like we will be having a lot of them with how this game is structured.

    • @arthurbosua
      @arthurbosua 5 місяців тому +2

      @Bowskii Yeah that's right, you'll want to get to level 5 first for most classes, since level 5 is a major power bump, barbs get an additional attack each turn, for instance, so multiclassing too early is going to make you significantly weaker if you're missing out on those abilities, like your lvl5 enemies hitting twice while you hit once...

    • @inarticulatevoid
      @inarticulatevoid 5 місяців тому +3

      @@BowskiiYeah that is, generally, ideal for a first playthrough. Ofcourse you can go at it however you want. I'm pretty sure there are many build videos on yt that tell you exactly how to level up step by step to make the optimal character. But imo, it's a much better experience to just learn as you play. You can respec anytime once you meet a certain character, for a decent price. So you have options to play around with multiclassing.

    oh I wanted to tell you this in advance but I forgot Gale will level up so early.. you could've chosen a different subclass (specialization) for Gale if you wanted to... many players don't realize this because the game has this very weird mechanic of selecting subclass for companions automatically during level up and it doesn't mark it clearly in level up menu that you can change it. Different subclass options were available step above the red "Spells" options you clicked on at 54:01, you just can't tell because it looked like it already had chekmark on it wasn't red... And the subclasses that game automatically chooses is just some template recommend, but not always best for companions or canon. So keep an eye on that as you level people up, a lot of other companions will be getting subclass options at levels 3 onward so make sure you check them out and chose what you really like and what feels better for them, not what game randomly selects :) on don't worry about Gale you will have options to respec later and try out different builds and this is a great subclass anyway :)
    As for dual class.. can't advise you there haven't tried that myself, but I heard it's not as fucntional as the old DnD was and that pure classes are much stronger than multiclass in this game becase you reach stronger and better skills/spells :)

    I would recommend to look in every nook of the map. You can scroll up its size in map menu to see where you can go. There is a little part of the beach near Astarion starting point you missed :) Alchemy ingridients and camp supplies are in their own containers at the top of your inv. As for the portraits you can find through the game, some are related to Divinity Original Sin 2 (great game, strongly recommed to play it too). Looking forward for the next episodes, I know they will be great!

    Another great episode! Love that you’re already thinking the companions are alive, I think this game does a great job at giving them all interesting morals and character progression based on how you play. I will say not to get discouraged when you get “disagrees”, it usually balances out in your favor over time unless you’re just pissing off people for shits and giggles lol.
    I think it’s been mentioned, but if you want to make sure you’re not missing any of the long rest cutscenes, you can “partial rest” by long resting without using camp supplies. You’ll get a cutscene without using any resources.
    You stomped that mind flayer out! In my first run it forced me to makeout with it until it drained my characters life and one shot killed the rest of my party !

    - When on mouse over an item, press "t" to freeze the info screen. Then you can move with your mouse to see what the abilities do.
    - You can smash some objects with weapons. Effectiveness depends on weapon and obkect type (you can check out each item/enemy with right click)
    - you can equip ranged weapons, good for attacking when out of melee reach
    - Jumping can help to cover more distance in combat
    - at low level, each char has 1 action and 1 bonus action per turn (basic dash uses action f.e., when you use it you have no action to do a basic attack anymore)

    In Thai game through the 2 acts you can get 12 levels. So if you multiclass and add a class, you will be losing the higher levels in the single class. So you can get 12 levels in Barbarian or be a 10 Barb/ 2 fighter or 8 Barbarian/ 4 warlock or any combo. You can even do the abserd thing of 1 level in each class.

Indeed the combination of ritual spell (no spell slot cost outside of combat) + lasts a whole day makes it incredibly good but it's not immediately obvious and the UI can be overwhelming at the start of the game. Btw, I believe you can even have it prepared on a companion who's at camp (not actively in your party) and just apply it every morning, before you venture forth. That way, you don't need to dedicate a spell slot to it, if you want to completely min/max :)

    Alchemy supplies, camp supplies, and keys go into their own bags automatically within your inventory (which you may discover further into the video than I am) the game automatically gives you an alchemy pouch, a keychain, and a camp supply bag on your character and all companions in the main backpack. If later you want to sell off excess camp supplies or alchemy ones, you'll need to take them out of the specialty pouches to do so easily/well.
    If you mark items in you inventory as wares by clicking 'add to wares' on them, you can auto-sell them with a single button click at a trader if you are in trade mode rather than barter mode.

For example camp supplies get very heavy as you build them up but since you only use them in camp you can keep them in the chest it'll generate a warning but you can use them from there just fine. Orange bordered items in your inventory are quest items generally speaking so it pays to hang onto them as they can only be used from your inventory as far as I know. My camp chest has about a dozen different ones in it (collected each distinct container with pick up e.g. opulent chest, shiny chest, cartiligious chest) so its easy for me to find as I know all weapons are in the crate, all books in the trunk, all jewelry in the opulent chest and so on.

    When you get to know the mechanics you can easily destroy everyone in that fight in the crypt in like 2-3 turns without taking any damage 😅
    You really should look at every available action to your character, for example you missed an extra rage action for your barb (blue icon on the right), or when you made a simple ranged attack with Astarion instead of sneak one while he was sneaking. Each fight plays out like an intricate puzzle and it really helps to pay attention to every little thing and there's oh so many options to do everything, it could be overwhelming, but that's the beauty of this game. nice fights and yeah that crypt fight is a bit harder if you do it straight away, and you went it with spells/skills half empty and still you pulled through which is kind of impressive! don't be afraid to go to camp often and long rest after every fight, it's smth you need to do often in this game plus you get lot of dialogue at camp when you long rest that waits for you so it's good to go often to check it out... that way you will always refill spell slots and skill slots and have everything at disposal for next fight :) the good thing about "going to camp" is you don't have to travel there. you go to camp straight from the position where you are right now through menu.. and when you leave camp you return right here so you wont lose any progress :)

    Use short and long rests! There’s only
    Like 2 quests in the entire game where a long rest matters, so use rests if you need them. (Short rest on menu and long rest is menu plus the campfire) as you’ve wasted so many health potions. Those should only be used during battle and not really outside of it, unless you have a TON and it doesn’t matter. Plus, long rests help you learn about your party and get their scenes.
    Also, people like gale, shadowheart and astaruon have advantage on their attacks when they are on higher ground than enemies.
    Lastly, use the environment to your advantage like barrels, bridges, things hanging above enemies etc.

    Only Multiclass when you know beforehand what you will get or loose out...for every class there are certain level points you want the get as quick as possible because those certain levels increase the power of the current class massive...so the right timing for multiclassing is always crucial.
    And my understanding is you are not familiar (yet) what every level provides but which is needed to know in order to build a good working multiclass character.
    My tip for a Barbarian is to reach at first Level 5 and take what lv 5 for a Barbarian provides = an extra attack which you will need from level 5 on...and then at Lv 6 you can think about if you might multiclass your Barbarian character or not....And not every class fits for multiclassing with a Barbarian because the stats have to fit as well for the both classes or more classes...for instance Barbarian + Fighter is a save fit because both work with the same stats...and honestly I wouldn´t take more classes than just one 3 or 4 level dip into fighter to multiclass a Barbarian if you want to play your character "Barbarian-like"= raging with a big 2 handed weapon = in total 8-9 Barbarian + 3-4 Fighter = 5 Barbarian then 3-4 Fighter then back to Barbarian
    By the way right beside your head on the right frame of the screen you can open the log where you can see your dice rolls during combat or during the entire game for everything you do...and when you mouse over an opponent with a right mouse click you can look at the stats and proficiencies and ammunties and weaknesses the opponent has before you trigger a combat...in order to choose for combat the right weapon (= different sorts of weapons have different damage types), the right spells which hurts the opponent the most.
    In order to switch between weapons instantly you have to put those weapons in the very right section named "custom" located on the very bottom of the screen beneath the main action bar.
    And according to Wizards - the shield spell is a passive ability and a must have because he doesn´t wear armour..
    And when an allie is down you can throw a healing potion at his body that will heal him as well, you don´t have to go to him and perform a helping hand action which gives him only 1 healthpoint anyway..

      @@Bowskii In general mellee classes like Barbarian, or Fighter or Paladin, those are classes where it is way more beneficial to take a dip into those classes from an former chosen other class rather then multiclass out of those melee classes.
      Either for getting rage and higher armour class when not wearing armour from the Barb for your former chosen class which are then usually one of the spellcaster classes or for the monk ...
      Or for getting heavy armour proficiency and weapon proficiencies from the Fighter, or for getting smite attacks from the Paladin..usually in order to build a sort of "Melee fighting spell caster"
      Many also dip 3 levels into Rouge subclass Thief just for getting the extra bonus action which only the Thief provides..for all classes a multiclass choice
      A good multiclass choice in general is to combine Spellcasters...like Warlock + Sorcerer both have Charisma as mainstat + a Paladin dip who also has Charisma as mainstat giving additionally armour proficiency + mellee fighting abilities + the powerful smite attack ...there are various combinations out of those 3
      Also Cleric + 1 Level into Wizard is very powerful for instance because that opens the possibility to cast all Wizards spells which you then can learn from scroll + all Cleric spells ...but doing a respec in order to have both Int + Wis high is then needed as well, those 2 combined with the right Cleric subclass is probably the most powerful pure spellcaster...Shadowheart is often respected that way also because her default subclass is the weakest Cleric subclass in order to get rid of it..

    The problem with Shadowheart is she isnt spec'd properly for magical combat, she's support or direct attacker. She's kinda vicious with a polearm. There are a few spears she does well with. But many of her spells are INT based and she's like 10.

      Shadowheart in combat has been interesting so far. The Cleric seems like a pretty tough class to grasp. I def will in time and I really love what they have to offer. I wanna see what her sub classes are hell as well as all the others.

    Small tip, at 29:10 you could've used your bonus action hilt attack on the 1 hp, and used your main attack on the other enemy

    Astariooooooooon!! I love that sassy idiot. Neil the voice actor is amazing in this. and who am I kidding I love all companions here like you said they are so alive. early days but enjoy.. all I will say is go to camp and sleep often, and explore environment thoroughly.. there are things to find of the beaten path.. like for example you can jump on rocks or climb up rocks and down rocks off the sides of path.. there is area where you first met Astorian you can explore more thoroughly to see what I mean :)
    and btw I am impressed how many times Shadowehear actually HIT with firebolt and that she hit at all LOL. there is a joke in the fandom at this point about how bad she is with it. it's a throwaway cantrip for her... because it's intelligence based spell and Shadowheart is wisdom based character, she usually misses with it 90% of the time 🤣 better stick to her other cleric cantrips like Sacred Flame. The only reason her and Astarion have that spell is because they are elves and so regardless of their class they have some affinity for magic and can do at least some spells. it's a lore thing :) doesn't mean they will always be good with it :) also smth you asked, no Guidance doesn't matter in combat, Guidance matters outside combat in dialogues but also good to have it on you just when walking around and exploring, it helps with noticing secrets and treasures and hidden passages and not stepping into traps etc, having Guidance on you at all times is amazing.... in combat Bless is what matters, it effects your attacks and saves :) also look into things like what gives you advantages. for example being on higher elevation always gives you advantage. enemies being in light while you are in shadow gives you advantage, surprising an enemy with first attack gives you advantage.. etc... there's a lot lol. Astarion btw is strongest in Sleight of Hand so he should be your go to guy for stealing, lock picking doors and chests and disarming traps it's his thing I just give him all the tools and lockpicks and have him do it all he rarely misses :) I can already tell you will rock at this game! :)

    • @sweetchild3485
      @sweetchild3485 5 місяців тому

      also if you don't want to go to camp you can always just short rest on the spot. you can do two short rests to heal up and restore some skills at least, better than wasting potions early on they're expensive :)

      He is so freaking cool I love his voice actor he did such a great job it got brought up he was a voice in Detroit Become Human and we just beat that recently but seriously he did a great job with his delivery. I will def check around more in the next EPs to come I wanna see if we fully missed anything before we head off to do any main mission type of quests.
      Its def a learning process with these abilities but I believe in time I will just pack it all in. Def can be overwhelming but its made the combat so much fun! Guidance is absolutely bad ass we need to keep up on that lol having Shadowheart around a lot is probably going to be a great thing and the heals!!
      I had a feeling he would be able to pick those locks for me just like any rogue in games really but I'm happy that's a thing in this game I will just need to switch to the companions more for things.

    Yes, you can respec your class. You can even respec companions. (Their personal storyline won't change to acknowledge this though).
    Respecing is unlocked fairly early. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll unlock it soon.
    It does cost gold to do so but its relatively cheap once you're about halfway in the game. (A little pricey at the point you unlock it though)
    The only downside is that the game doesn't have some kind of practice arena so the best you can do is reload a save, respec again, then fight on the same upcoming battle for the sake of testing.
    For multi-classing, you really have to sit down and examine all your options. As the game mentions, multi-classing basically sacrifices some late game class features for the potential to combo with the unique features given by other classes. Some classes however, just simply don't work. Barbarian for example, can't cast spells while raging. So don't multi-class into any class that relies on spellcasting to function properly.
    Of course, if you wanna explore all these options yourself, I'll just leave it at that.

    • @Bowskii
      @Bowskii  5 місяців тому +1

      nice! well its good that we can actually respec our stuff and no biggy i will play around with stuff and if I need to try things out and reload so I don't mess stuff up its fine just to showcase the classes. Multiclass seem interesting I'm still unsure how I want to play it out. Not casting spells on a barb will def limit stuff for sure.
