Definitely appreciate this review! Much like you’ve mentioned, I’m looking for a nice, sporty, large-ish SUV that can tow a track car. I love hearing an enthusiast perspective with my exact use case!
Good review . Bose , first at all you need to disable Centerpoint and Bose processing, talking about audiophile try high res 24/192K files on it 😉 it will make you change your mind . Highly compressed FM of today or even worse Sat Radio that is like super aggressive MP3 will sound like crap . 3 rd row is for kids and small short adults only , but with some front row and 2 row slide management you can squeeze more legroom for 3rd row and than it is fine . I would love to try some thicker oil like 0W40 to make the Inline 6 sound with little more low tone and even sweeter. That whine must be coming from electric assist motor ? Is sounds little weird I agree. Keep in mind if you could run Shell 93 it would run even better and have more power than on west coast's best 91 Octane . I also wish they did use Sport mode for say short 5 sec PSI boost to add another 50hp so this could do 5.5sec when needed
The CX 70 sounds like it will be the perfect vehicle for the price point! Mazda is definitely going after the German market with a much better cost of owning and maintaining the vehicle! Not putting down German cars, the dealerships here in the U.S.A are too greedy and Mazda is taking advantage of that greediness!
Very nice car. But I'd rather put the money into the track car. You can get a very nice E70 x35i for under 15K. Handles like a sports car and can easily tow a race car and trailer. Put a JB4 and Bob's your uncle. Seems like old cars are very underappreciated these days.
I hear you, but remember that BMWs aren’t the most reliable things as they age. I had a 2013 E70 X5 35i from new, and it had to have both turbos replaced due to them leaking oil at 60k miles. Also, with the Sport Activity Package, it constantly demolished the outside shoulders of its wider front tires within 10k miles, even with proper alignments done each time. Good SUV, but just things to consider.
Saw one of these up close in a parking lot and thought it was something Italian. It's got real presence-- especially in that deep wine red color ("Artisan Red Premium," they call it). The rear-drive inline 6 proportions make it look VERY European. The thing that makes me wary is any new automatic transmission from Mazda, (as evidenced by the weird 3-2 downshift in the video)... I can't wait to see this engine in a sedan or coupe with a 6 speed manual. Wishfully hoping Mazda would leave out the mild hybrid system for the manual models, and throw in a Torsen diff at the rear. In a perfect world...
Did you encounter any issues with the transmission slipping/searching for gears? I've seen other reviews that mention that, but was advised it's not happening in the PHEV.
I agree. This car drives like an x5 which is a huge complement to Mazda. Shifter feels like flimsy crap though. Also see car care nut review of this car where he rips into the needless over engineering lol.
Great video but I feel like your bias towards this car. When you mentioned the good things about this suv you compared to others but didn’t for the negatives. Idk maybe I missed it but great video otherwise
@Zygrene actually the suspension. On wavy roads, with ondulations , the car starts to bounce specially from the rear. They used cheap suspension with only one damping chamber and it can't deal with bumps .. sorry for my English.
Looks great. Mazda is killing it
Love the cars you’re choosing to feature on the channel. Your vids are like the best of what TST used to be.
man that I6 sounds pretty nice lol. wish they put it in a coupe
I want a Miata with this engine!
needs to be more straight 6 cars man. lovely video as always zy cheers
I hear conflicting information about the sound system. Some are saying it is best in class.
Was this the top stereo Mazda offers?
Now let's see it in the production version of the Mazda Vision Coupe, paired to a manual transmission. Do it Mazdaaaa!
Make it a 2+2 and I'll buy it

An all around great value for the features, quality, etc. May need to look into Mazda when it’s time to upgrade the family suv.
Correction, the 4 cylinder engine in the cx90 PHEV is not turbo charged.

They need to stick this engine in the next miata as an optional engine without turbos, n a higher redline, lighter weight.
Rented one. These are elite. Looks good inside and out.

I have the cx60 an i would advise for a facelift , lots of issues
Yeah the 8AT was disappointing. Nowhere near as smooth or quick as the ZF8, and it's touchy from a dead stop.
We need this drivetrain and engine in the Mazda 3 hatchback.

I disagree on the Bose system. Most people have their app settings wrong on their phones. It definitely will sound boomy with those settings.
Hi I work at Lexus of concord, if you want car for review, let me know. Thanks
fun fact there is no rear swaybar in the cx-90
Great video but I feel like your bias towards this car. When you mentioned the good things about this suv you compared to others but didn’t for the negatives. Idk maybe I missed it but great video otherwise
does anyone know which road this is?
Great vehicle.
Does It jump like a Kangoroo like the CX60 PHEV? I have one and its the worst car i ever owned
If you mean jerkiness from the transmission in 1st gear, it did exhibit some of that.
@Zygrene actually the suspension. On wavy roads, with ondulations , the car starts to bounce specially from the rear. They used cheap suspension with only one damping chamber and it can't deal with bumps
.. sorry for my English.
Car is too big for that man look how small he is in it
Watch the car care nut review before buying
The act nut review was awful doubt he drove the car all he did was predict and hate
That guy thinks he knows everything and has a crystal ball.. trust the japanese and engineers who builds mazda, not the toyota biased mechanic..
