Usually when we call a vehicle a "first-year model," it still shares some components with other existing models within the company's portfolio. But in this case, EVERYTHING is brand new and designed for this new era of Mazda products -- inline 6 turbo, RWD platform, in-house transmission, new exterior & interior design, etc. The final product is definitely not perfect, especially the transmission tuning, but it is unbelievably impressive how Mazda was able to put all these newly developed components together this well for the first year. And of course, this CX-90 feels like a pilot project for Mazda to discover all the imperfections of the current design. The CX-70 is really the main course!!!

Mazda is one of the very few small brands that go at it alone and man I hope this encourages all the other ones to follow in their lead. CX-90 and CX-60 are more than just cars, they're statements of intent, the theme song to Mazda coming into the arena and heralding a new era. Awesome review, btw.

Just yesterday, as I waited for my CX-30 to be serviced, I checked out the CX-90. Wow! My next vehicle could be the CX-90. I get compliments on my CX-30 all the time about how premium the interior looks. This 90 takes it to another level - suede all over, fancy stitching, clean and unfussy. Good job presenting it, Sleepy Garage!

If I were the product planner, I would make the Miata larger, heavier, and more luxurious, and then put this inline 6 in it to make it a Japanese Z4. It will sell like hot cakes.

Hey man this car literally beats out most of all the other Mazda vehicles. It's got decent performance, comfort, practicality, reliability, and attractive styling. It's hard for even luxury brand lovers to ignore these perks.

Nice Intro, Mazda is really doing good with their new models. Finally they upgraded the Transmission to 8 speed this was long due. Other wise this SUV is really nice and really good colours.

Great review! have you driven the Toyota grand highlander hybrid max? I am interested to know your thoughts comparing CX 90 withToyota GH that has more power than cx 90 and lot more space. What opinion do you offer?

  • @darek816

I was all in to get the same model as tested, but now I'm unsure. I need to test drive again for longer CX90 and MDX Type S, which made me think again about the decision. Yes, MDX is more expensive, more fuel thirsty, and interior loaded with cheap black shiny plastic. But after a short test drive, I leaned toward Type S because immediately I felt like in my CX9. Still don't know what I'll do, but it would be nice if CX70 would present very, very soon, at least to see what Mazda will change with the back of the car.

not sure why they say BMW x5 but half the price. Since he is driving the $63k version of it. Base X5 is around $65k and has 375 hp. And take off the line not even a question. Kudos to Mazda for the inline 6 but they need better tuning on that engine.

    • @TheRotorious13b
      @TheRotorious13b 9 місяців тому

Better tuning for what, drag starts in a 3 row SUV? Yeah, rational buyers are not concerned with drag racing in this segment. Lol. To try and pretend that a few tenths off the line means the engine needs "tuning" is kind of a stretch, lol.

The suede are hit and miss as it attracts dust and dirt easy. Looks good mazda but still a mazda and price are a bit a question for its followers for sure but angood try will settled them and attract new buyers from other platform.

    New engine new tranny
    47k to 62k
Hahaha mazda no way this is stupid junk
Wait 4 years as per automobile industry any new model engine needs to be driven 100k miles and with thousands of customers feedback on their results
After that cx 90 will be evenworth to talk not to buy
After that evaluation and R&D will come sales
What a world now utuber is raving about cx90 which is barely in market
Hahaha and comparing to established reliable godwill resaleable highlander
Its a crime to compare cx90 with highlander
