Man, I love myself a D-Tuna! 🔥
Speak to the guy in the video. Perhaps he could get you a real bargain
@@TheMarioExpertMan Nah, I heard he’s a jerk!
@@DaganWilkin 🤣
Great video , just ordered a mij evh and tho its not my 1st wolfgang it is gonna be special for me , i lost my 1st one in 90s to a drug addiction along with everything else i owned , ive been clean for 15 years + and cant wait to get one in my hands again and thanks for educating me on the D-tuna
Wow, best explanation ever. There are a lot of D-Tuna videos, but not much about how it actually works and why. I was always puzzled how it will get perfect tune since different string gauges and tunings, but it all makes sense now. Amazing video!
Great video!!! I just got my Wolfgang Bumblebee and no instructions on the D-Tuna. You made it clear. 👊🏼
Perfect timing! Just got a d-tuna and thanks to you feeling more confident about installing it. I also picked up an FR tremolo stop lock.
I managed to install d-tuna into my RR shaped Edwards. Luckily, I have just enough place (when guitar is set up correctly). That when I locked bridge to dive only, I have around 1 mm when engaged. I need to dive bridge to drop into D tho:D and my bridge is juuuust touch up (I mean it's not ideally flat with the body, back or it is just around 1/2 degree up. Abouslutly no change in sound/setup, or anything...and I absolutely love it
Awesome! 🤘
This is certainly the best video out there that thoroughly explains the d-tuna.
Thanks good tip about the grub screw. No instructions with my EVH Frankie about setting the D-Tuna up. Took it off over a year ago and wanted to try it out again.
I have a Wolfgang identical to the one in the video. Fantastic guitar, love the D-Tuna!
I also just bought a "Black Stealth Special". It is an AMAZING guitar ! Great for Rock, Jazz, Blues and everything else.
I love your passion. Cheers for all the vids from Australia bud 👊🏻
Thanks Dagan. I've just installed a trem stabiliser on my prs DW CE24 to see if it will retain tuning when switching between D and E and it looks (sounds?) favourable. Definitely going to invest in the D-tuna after seeing your explanation. Nice one.
Just got my Wolfgang Standard in Chlorine Burst and ordered a D Tuna the next day. Looked at my email and it has arrived, I'll be installing it as soon as I get home! Thanks for sharing the video Dagan, you rock! 🎸💯
No D-Tuna on Standards? Another reason to go couple hundreds bucks or e:s more for the Mexican mades. I have the Striped Fender made 5150 I love, but really want the kill switch too. The red-ass one.
@@johnnyblitzkrieg8985 it's only 40 bucks for a D tuna and installs in minutes.
Ah nice one, I've never actually done this, good to know =)
I don’t even have a Floyd and now I do all because of a crazy, awesome English man, one of my favorite guitar players🤘
Hello,❤
I am a new subscriber.
Can’t wait to put this on my held step down king v guitar I got a red one cause I have red hardware screws with the white and black I like they way o have it can’t wait for it to come in and play Saturday night on stage
Dagan - my d-tuna is only going about 1/2 to 3/4 step now after a string change. Any tips to get it back to a full step? I am playing an EVH Wolfgang Standard tuned to Eb.
I put one on my Fender Richie Sambora USA strat. Had to fit a stabilizer too because it's a floating Floyd.
👌🤘
What is a stabilizer? I'm thinking of getting a Floyd-equipped guitar soon and would love to use on of these D-Tunas if I can get it to work. I had a 7 string with a Floyd a while back and it was not fun to deal with (wouldn't stay in tune properly) so hoping I'll have a better experience this time, but the 6 strings I'm looking at have a fully floating Floyd.
Does it works on a Floyd Rose Licensed Jackson ? (Jackson Dinky DKA-M js32 )
I've lost the spring from my D tuna. Does anyone know the size so I can get a replacement? Thanx in advance
I’ve heard the D-Tuna works better with 9’s instead on 10’s string?? Is that true? I have 10’s and when I tighten the fine tune allen screw, it’s so tight I can’t even pull out the D Tuna. Thanks.
Ok awesome, now can you do it for the recessed Floyds? I have a Charvel with one and put a Tone Vise on it and while it works, it's not as smooth as a D Tuna. I floated the bridge and have a trem stabilizer on it and it took a lot of fiddling to get it all to work and stay in tune in both tunings while floating.
Ok I see you did mention these issues and even "routed" one of your guitars for a D Tuna 😂
Ohhh I need this so much! I have a 90's Ibanez though so would it work with it? It has a Lo-TRS II trem.
Unfortunately not, as Dagan mentions in the video it’s only designed for Floyd Rose or licensed Floyd Rose tremolos.
My old Ibanez AX125 had a drop tuner, just not on a Floyd. Wicked bit of kit. Just a pity the guitar neck dived so badly, it hit the floor once when i was stood up straight! 😂😂😂
My 10 year old thinks these are the coolest things ever
Hi, nothing about Eddie's own set up ? I mean, Eddie cut metal plate below the DTuner. I have a Wolfgang USA Stealth Signature and the Fender Custom Shop luthier cut it like Eddie do. Great video like always !! Thanks !
I've seen a bunch of D-tuna setup videos, but this is the first one that explains HOW the D-tuna works. Very good video!
Does it play nice with drop C#?
Hello, nice demonstration and awesome tone (y) I have just 2 questions (and I don't own dtuna yet so i cant try it myself).
1/ What happens if you unscrew the fine tuner completely? It doesn't have to be there since it's all the way up, so it could be maybe better to put it away so it cant be lost, right?
2/ Let's say I have perfectly tuned guitar with the dtuna. Now when it goes naturally slightly out of tune, I can fine tune the "e position" with the little screw in d-tuna. What about the "d position", I'd have to unlock the nut and tune it on the headstock, bcs the finetuner on the trem is not working, right?
Thx
I have the same exact guitar as on this video (The Black Stealth Special).
Its because of Gadan´s last video review I bought one ! :)
It comes with a set of extra screws in which you can unscrew and take out the "D-Tuna" and just use the FLoyd-Rose without
it, if you want ... But WHY unscrew it and take it out, it is just so good to use.
It will never fall off. It is built in a way in which it is always locked unto the Floyd-Rose without falling off. You just
plug-it-in or plug-it-out.
It was Eddie Van Halen´s Invention and the man knew what he was doing over the past 35 years playing his guitars.
I think Eddie V.H. used to call this "D-Tuna" invention , the "Little Willie" :)
That's didn't answer the question. He was talking about the fine tuner, not the d tuna@@MAX96MENDES
It would be amazing if you could use six of these and drop all six strings one step. 😮 😂
my dtuna is friggn slippery and I can never pull it back. I'm gonna try some rubbing alcohol or something to get any oils etc off of it
Necessity is the Mother of Invention. Half the guitars in any music store are in Drop D.
Have you tried the Tone vise pitch shifter? Looks about the same but shorter.
Does this work on a Jackson Kelly JS32?
dont know if it works on a jackson brand floyd rose, works on all floyd rose systems but idk about jackson
Tried a Frankenstein Relic at local store and they have the FR pulled back extremely. Annoying cause the D-Tuna scratches the surface when pulled back. You would think they set these up like what I see online. I never got to try out the D-Tuna due to that.
My EVH Standard with top-mounted Floyd does go out of tune when switching 😢 any suggestions?
Is your Floyd set up for floating, or dive only?
@@gabrielbrouwer It's floating, but I put a blocker inside so it behaves as dive only.
Does it work the same in E standard and D standard? I mean, does it give one step down in D to C too?
I have the same question, did you get an answer yet? If not I’d suggest calling any major guitar store, they should be able to tell yo
I just googled it and yes it works for every standard tuning
That Pacer Might Be Old But Would Buy It In A Second.
my g/f looked at my xmas wish list and said''what u gonna do with dtuna''? i told her i would put it near my wammy bar. she got a footlong from subway and dropped it on my lap
Will it work on my strat with Floyd Rose? I just bought this strat and had no idea dropping down to D would be so cumbersome 😂
It will indeed!
So I take it, it will work on a FloydRose 1000. Would be great to see a step by step installation video.
Just replace the saddle locking screw with the D-Tuna. As simple as that 🤘
@@DaganWilkin Thank you. I have had one for at least 12 months now, to put on my Kramer Baretta Vintage. I suppose I should first slacken the E string, the as you say “just replace the locking screw with that D-Tuna”.
@@jimmcdougall9973 yeah of course, swapping the saddle locking screw will make the string come out the saddle. Ideally you’ll need a new set on strings so everything’s fresh after the installation
@@DaganWilkin Thank you. Appreciated.
A Kahler trem is better you can easily drop the low string down a whole step with the fine tuners.
I have a Frankie Relic and Im thinking of just doing that, putting the e string fine tuner all the way in and turning it out for D. Every time I engage the Dtuna to get to E all the other strings go out of tune even though my trem is flat to the body and cannot be pulled up. I also dropped the string tree to make sure the strings were bottomed out on the back of the nut. I cant get rid of it fucking the tuning up. If I get close, as soon as I tighten the locking nuts everything is way out of whack again. its very frustrating.
The cool thing is that you could in theory buy 6 of them and make yourself a cheaper Trans Trem.
🤔 🤯
I didn’t realize you have to tune the whole guitar to drop D ? I thought it was only one string. Have I been doing it wrong all this time?!
You dont. Just the top string.
Third 🤘🏻
He's cosplaying Snow Villiers! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh shit didn’t realzie I was early
Welcome! 🤘
Better off just having 2 guitars. I'm sure these sell just because the name on them but it's just not really that feasible on something like a Floyd.. u gotta block the trem so it only dives.. if that's the case then a Floyd is probably not the bridge for you in the first place. Idk.. I'm not diggin it. Doesn't really seem practical to me.
hi im first
Hi first, i‘m last
hi last hows life@@Lassef3k
Man 60€ ain’t worth a piece of metal in the size of a lock key😂
I’m gay
What a scam the d-tuna! It sounds the same to me!
What? It literally moves the pitch of the string down a whole tone 🤣
