the more of this I see the less casual friendly it seems, and that's an issue if only the die-hard platform fighter fans will play it
I mean the game is for platform fighter fans. Specifically melee and ultimate players.
Rivals one didn't have items or anything, but the stages had for fun effects and an arcade mode came out with silly game modes. It might not be on release, but there was plenty to enjoy with my buddies who aren't hardcore smash players.
That's... the point. While Smash is designed to have broad appeal, Rivals is specifically designed around competitive play.
The games supposed to be competitive.... also you can always play with people around your skill
