Man that boy would smoke the WR in good conditions on a flat course like Valencia or Berlin he is the future Interesting what he will produce in Paris 2024
If he's that close to the WR that was set in Berlin, this kid has possibly already surpassed Eliud Kipchoge in ability right now. Given that he is still improving each year at only 23, he could end up taking the WR in Berlin perhaps surpassing the all time best and getting under 1:59:40 in an actual marathon
Yes, but berlin is the absolute gold standard for a world record course. I think the last 10 world record was set in berlin dating back to that immortal 2.03.59 by haile gebresilase. Back then, 2.04 was the equivalent of the sub 2 barrier and he broke that in berlin and so many followed post that!

He finishes on 2.01.26 but the official time was 2.01.25, was that because the idiot on the last corner made him take the corner wide by directing him the wrong way?
The comments are so bad. The speakers don't even had a table to see if his position on the route matches the record or not. It was obvious he was going to break the record at 40km but they had no clue.
The commentary could have been better. I mean it's not rocket science. Neither commentator was really aware of what Kelvin Kiptum was doing. He basically missed the world record by a small margin and it only dawned on Pavey & co. after Kiptum had finished. The same with Mo Farah. No mention of him shattering the British over-40 record. Or Chris Thompson doing likewise.
If some runners along with him till the last km or some one give pressure definitely it’s goes to cross the world record.encouraging to him for next run be more Bette
KELVIN (feel the heat) put in a massive effort with that astounding sprint at the end. Pity Eurosport couldn't make just a tiny bit of effort to get his name right in the title, but I guess this UA-cam uploading is pretty gruelling and they were probably too tired.
To put this time in context, you can consider yourself a good cyclist if you cover this distance (in these conditions) in two hours!! Kiptum is now firmly in Superhero territory.

Yea 😂😂😂
That's because Kiptum would run faster, every race was a 100% effort

Insane. There's literally no suffering on his face, this is meant to be brutal, but he breezed it. I tip my hat to this phenomenal athlete
I FAINTED WHEN I SAW HIM LIVE! THIS WAY PAST OUR LIMITS! KIPCHOGE IS IN DANGER! SUB 2HOUR ALERT! NEW WR ALERTT!

The commentators are smooth as the runners seriously. So easy and interesting to listen to them. Thank you!
WE LOVE YOU
I couldn't run 100m at that pace. Awesome to see.
Imagine if he had pacers like kipchoge did in berlin 🤯
He did have pacers for the first half
Kipchoge alone in Berlin for more 20km
They make it sound like he's running a 100k ultra
He spent 2 hours recorded with 600 meters to go. Incredible!
Did we just witnessed a runner that ran his first 2 Marathons in 2h01m???! Wow that's something
May he rest in eternal peace what a terrible tragedy, gone far far too young.

That’s insane!
I actually want to slap that commentator for getting Kipchoge’s name wrong. “Kipchagay”. Go back to commentating on the snooker.
I know as if he doesn't even know how to pronounce the marathon GOATS name
Kenya👌🏾
He's 23 years old
A truly talented athlete well done!
His peak will be 1:59:00 within 2 years
hes averaging 2:1:39 from his first 2 marathons that could be a possibility maybe at the Berlin Marathon which is ones of the fastest course.
Second fastest ever? Are you all just ignoring Kenenisa Bekele???
Superb work. Just 18 sec??? For brand new world record
May your soul rest in peace, Kelvin Kiptum.

Congratulations 🎉
