@@ethantaillefer-meyn6535 That's always bugged me. The Sledgefire and Roughcut are the only "true" shotguns that immediately come to mind, but everyone refers to any pump-action gun that looks vaguely like a real-steel shotgun as a shotgun.
Looking like a shotgun is a moot point when you consider tactical shotguns like the saiga and other rifleesque shotguns, however on the topic of nerf shotguns worthy of the title there’s also the trilogy, shell-strike, that ancient lanard shotgun, the diatron (technically), the warden (if we’re including the roughcut), the twinshock, the judge, the splitstrike (again if the roughcut counts), the double dealer is in a weird spot it fires 2 darts simultaneously but each barrel has a seperate mag so it’s more like a double barrelled rifle… it’s also terrible, and the atlas. And that’s not counting 3rd party blasters or conversions.
I’m probably forgetting a couple, but in foam warfare the shotgun is my weapon of choice so I try to keep tabs on what does or can be made to fire 3 darts with 1 trigger pull
Kinda wish they had a shell system like trilogy or they could’ve made a mega dart shooter that had a loading mechanic like an actual pump shotgun where the darts go into a holder until the chambered shot is fired and then it cambers the next dart.
For that, we have knock-offs, that are sometimes look, and act WAY better than what Hasbro offers. Like, the knock-offs have shells, similar to real-gun mechanism, and some even build up from Metal, while Hasbro is cheap, to even use springs, and rather use plastic, that once breaks, and the blaster is useless. Now, I'm both talking about the knock off Nerfs, Buzz Bee and these families, and also about higher quality knock offs...
What I find hilarious at this point is that nerf is living and dying by licensed toys at this point. All of the recent Licensed stuff is complete garbage through and through for the price. And all of the stuff that isn’t licensed isn’t selling because there are much better options for those that care offered by Dartzone, Zuru, and occasionally Buzzbee. Nerf is just popular enough to get the brand rights. If they didn’t have that I genuinely think that Nerf would get out competed by now.
Hasbro back at it again with terrible “shotguns” for 2 years in a row that break one way or another. First the Warden in 2020 where the blaster breaks after some use and now the pump sg in 2021 where YOU break the blaster bc of how bad it is…
Thanks Walcom. It's not always easy about talking about your past, and this video was quite touching. Hasbro should really think about their products and what they're releasing.
The sheer, unfettered *apathy* in the design of this blaster says a lot to me about the state of Hasbro engineering there. A tooth. A tiny little inclined surface on the inside of the pump grip that engages the breech cover. That's literally *all* that was necessary to, at the very least, have the breech open when the blaster was primed back. An infinitesimal addition to a massive waste of good dino juice. And they *left it out.* For what? Couldn't have been aesthetics, tons of blasters have been made of this type with them. Costs? Doubtful, it's tiny and a minimal consideration. Safety? Not sure how it'd be a problem. What it says to me is they just do not give a *hoot*. They're all checked out. Cruising on brand and nothing more. Innovation from the Nerf brand is all but dead. Long live the third parties.
Nerf barely does anything worthwhile anymore, I picked up a conquest pro around Christmas time and I absolutely love it. I'm looking at a few knockoffs on Amazon for side arms. Turns out a few Chinese companies are making slightly cheaper variants of the shellington blasters as well as the gecko. May be the way I go I'm also thinking about grabbing a viper. Whats hilarious is nerf isn't blind they can see these things and what's selling yet they continue down the same path, I help pick my nephews blasters and I'm advising agaisnt nerf brand all the way. Nerf gets by on brand recognition meanwhile companies like adventure force, buzzbee and even xshot have to make actual decent blasters (most of the time) otherwise they'll be passed by.
I was actually hopeful for this blaster. What a disappointment. Screw you Hasbro. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Good job on the vid tho walcom. Also how is it even able to be considered a shotgun? It's single shot.
The sheer anger in Walcom's voice during the intro is rivalled only by the anger in mine at the end of my work shift today (coworkers suck, all im gonna say)
Here in Australia this thing is $39 retail. Kmart still has the battle camo roughcut for $25. Comes with 16 of the battle camo darts and fires 4x2 or, with a little practice, 8 single shots. Don't buy this thing unless they get desperate and have to sell them for $10 clearance.
At first I saw you as an overgrown man child, but after hearing your reasoning behind your reviews and your sincere apology to that hypothetical kid. I respect you
I've got this blaster myself and, apart from being cumbersome to use, it's actually one of my favorite blaster I own. I shoots rather hard compared to my other blasters, the trigger pull and the pump are really satisfying with a bunch of feel. And it's not bad quality either. However, I can understand your frustration Walcom.
What happened to the people that were designing the blasters up until like 2012. All the N-strike and early Elite blasters were absolutely ballin' I remember absolutely losing my mind over the rapidstrike when it was released in the UK. Now I can't look at a Nerf gun without dying inside or whimpering
N strike blasters and their elite remakes (Retaliator, Rampage, Strongarm, Longshot, Alphatrooper etc) are the goat blasters. That is what i Think about when i hear the word nerf
Apparently Walcom there’s a new 2022 Rival line that has shell loading technology… LIKE AN ACTUALLY REAL PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN and from sources it’s called something like RIVAL TACTICS’
If there's one thing I never expected from Nerf, it's for their blaster to break at the grip, even the way you did it. Last I remember, these things were made of Nintendium. That's kind of surprising.
I remember i walked into a target with my friends and saw this on the shelves. I was interested and picked up and started reading the box. I then laughed out loud in the middle of the store and brought one of my other friends who's into Nerf and told him. "This is a single shot, pump shotgun with slam fire" It was the funniest shit. I then just bought more rival rounds for my Takedown.
6:54 is the exact reason why I play Nerf now as a 22 year old dude. My mother wouldn’t let me have a toy gun because she thought it would lead to violence🤦♂️. But once I started working, I figured I could buy a nerf gun for myself and ever since I’ve been playing and modifying and now printing nerf blasters AND I LOVE IT😎
No shame bro, I'm 25 and my wife before my birthday goes "is there a game or a nerf gun you want?" She has gotten me a nerf gun every year for Xmas since we got married because she knows it's what I do with my nephews, they're coming in in a few months and I have a conquest I'm getting ready. Poor kids wont know what hit em but they'll be pretty sure it was a dart.
I dreamed of this blaster and got it for my birthday, it looks awesome but kinda sucked because no dart storage, but at least it’s my most accurate nerf blaster
look, the x-shot shotgun is basically the same form factor but better because at least they don't hide it, and it's only like 15 - 20 dollars, just leave this one behind
It's not even a true breach loader! I agree that it's even worse than the _Doublebreach!_ I have a Doublebreach (got it as a gift) that I want to mod into a shieldbuster (2 mega will break a shield, even if I need to put a drain blaster in there to get acceptable performance. I can't even do that with the Fortnite Pump SG!
Back when I heard the Fortnite line was a thing, I wanted a rival shotgun similar to a Saturn but with shells like the Spring Thunder My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
With the FPS you were getting, I feel like you could probably rechamber it for 3 full or 6 Half length darts too. Wouldn't be huge range but might be cool. And you'd have the only effective version of the blaster! Lol
Totally didn't just buy one yesterday. Then again, it was for cosplay and was on sale. That being said, I completely understand the disappointment. I wish Hasbro would do something like the Double Shot or even the Monorail.
If and I say IF!, Hasbro wanted to, they could easily make a better monorail, the rival line, proves it and if that effort were put into the rest of their lines, they could actually do it. And do it well. But this shit is why dart zone and the Walmart exclusive adventure force line are at all compelling, and in fact, they're waffle stomping Hasbro into the drain like the monster turd they are.
You know, if I had to name what I would consider to be the most depressing Nerf blaster off the top of my head, I'd most likely end up answering with that one. Being a $30, weak, single-shot, Mega-dart jolt that's operated with pump-action BUT has a STUPID manual-breach on top of that, obviously Nerfers and average consumers wouldn't want to touch it but I'd say even the kids would probably hate to use it. I also wouldn't see the Fortnite fans wanting it for looks since it's modeled after the ugly, garbage Pump from the ugly, garbage Fortnite Chapt. 2 (aka fake-Fortnite) instead of the gorgeous, not-garbage, and especially iconic Pump from Fortnite Chapt. 1. But for what it is, I'd say it's overall worse and more depressing than the Roblox blasters. I'm glad that you called out how disgusting it is to have garbage like that put in the hands of kids. Though question: How would you rank the Pump-SG, the Elite 2.0 Warden, and the Alpha Strike Uppercut from bad to worst? Edit: Im'a just throw this in: 1:42
@@cdubz-gaming1234 at first I was confused since my comment was on a Nerf video. Anyways, I'm not salty over Chapt. 2, I just said that I hate Chapt. 2. Hating something doesn't mean I'm salty from it. Or are you asking why I hate Chapt. 2?
@@nazdoesstuffYT not just that. I'm going to explain them in the order of what I think is worst to best with the 4 Roblox blasters. With the red shark-looking one, at least you simply front-load and top-prime even if it has worse ergonomics. With the hammer-action Jolt ones, they're essentially Jolts that are technically faster to reload than Jolts because of the hammer-action. With the "Adopt Me! Bees", pretty okay. It just needs to have a lot of the cylinder openings unblocked so it's not reloading like those single-action revolvers that require a manual-rotation of the cylinder after EVERY load. Also it has slamfire which is at the least nice to have but I guess could be solid if someone figured out a way to work with it well. With the Stryfe-type blaster, well... no explanation needed. So I'd rather use even the worst one than the Pump-SG

The break part took me off guard, it makes the deploy look good, and thanks for saying the name of the blaster, I told you that it wasn't that hard! Sadly, this one was a complete kick in the face tbh.
7:00 to 7:16 is the reason of why I got into this hobby as a 24 year old. I got a Recon CS-6 for Christmas 2010 after years of my older brothers chasing me with Powerclip DX1000s (basically a pre-N-Strike Magstrike) and I absolutely loved the thing. But, being only 14 at the time, I wasn't really allowed to just go out and get whatever blasters I wanted and buy mod parts from "shady unknown people online (parents, smh), so my passion for the hobby died out relatively quickly. It wasn't until about this time last year where I saw a video about the Nexus Pro (I believe it was Coop's review?) and saw just what had happened to Nerf in the time I hadn't paid much attention to it. Fast forward 12 months, 70+ blasters, a lot of mod parts and even more money spent, and here we are today, with my favourite hobby that lets me use my head and my hands to create new things, to make a blaster into my own.
I laughed so hard in this video also: "'Darts located under platform' 'Ill locate you under platform'", "Fartnite pump shotgun", and the final reverse outro man
Bought one of these, and it shoots so bad, I can't even hit the window across the room from me. Which is, like... 20, 25 feet away from me? It just drops to the ground, no strength whatsoever. Got it dirtcheap through a sale, gonna just repaint it into a fun Halloween prop or something, cuz that's all its good for at this point.
Before the kids start spamming how Dart Zone is better, this was built around the bad years of Nerf. And besides, other than shell mods Some Chinese guy figured out how to make it passable by making it shoot half darts
The bad years? This came out like last year. Sure it's getting annoying to constantly hear dart zone is better but Hasbro just doesn't make high quality products right now outside of hyper and the accu-ultras. And even those are just better than what they've been putting out, not exactly "good." Can you name a genuinely good Hasbro blaster that's released in the past 2 years that's comparable to anything dart zone has put out?
@@reedpratt1985 I know it's not that great performance wise but I just got a Boomdozer and it's heaps of fun. Easily the best Nerf blaster of 2021 and probably beats most of 2020's offerings

6:55 speaks to me on another level My family didn't have much money for nerf blasters when I was a kid so now that I'm an adult, I spend a part of my adulthood trying to relive what I wasn't able to experience as a kid. Now I'm growing a collection of blasters. I definitely won't buy this SG though LOL

Thank you for this video, from the bottom of my heart. I’m not very educated on Nerf related things, I am very new into enjoying the brand, and I had seen this blaster on the shelf at my local store and wanted it. I wasn’t able to get it for the longest time, and now I have a gift card I can use to get it, but I wasn’t able to get it today because of a snowstorm. I decided to look for a review of it in the meantime, ended up here, and I am SO grateful for that, because if I hadn’t seen this video, I probably would have bought it and then been immensely disappointed. Thank you for making this video and for being so completely honest about how bad this blaster is; it saved me from being disappointed by it!
I do actually have this nerf gun. The worst part is that it’s actually quicker to reload it if you put the dart directly into barrel from the front, pushing it down with a long object like a musket, and then cocking it than reloading it how you’re supposed to reload it
My question is this though? Where is modulus? That line was great, and what baffles me is why we aren't getting re-releases of the blasters everyone loves, you know, the Stryfe, The Rapidstrike, The Alphatrooper, the Hammershot and the Roughcut. If Elite 2.0 was 2.0, wouldn't they make blasters that can be modded with lypos, new flywheel cages and no mechanical locks out of the box?
Maybe a shotgun with a 3 round internal magazine and you put 3 shells in and the shells have 3 darts? How awesome would that be : spring thunder A little less expensive
That's what baffles me they made 3(?) Actual shotguns that fired a spread of 3 darts, the sledgefire is king of course but they have the technology that they refuse to use. Give adventure force enough time to play with half darts and we'll probably get a really sick shotgun from them.
Man was relatetable the reason we grown ass man collect or play with toys even though we like 40 because we never had that shit when we were children and now that we're adults we can buy those things even people thought it was embarrassing
Hey, Walcom7. I wanted to thank you for the inspiration to make my Arm-Mounted Destructor. I'm still trying to work out the kinks to make it as effective as your arm-mounted blaster. Also, I heartily agree with you about the Pump-SG. It's jank. It's at best (like in my opinion about most of the Fortnite line) best used as a cosplay prop if you need an exaggerated cartoon version of a real gun. Coop would agree with me in saying it's not "tacti-cool", and it's definitely not practical for nerf wars. I'd have more use out of a Mega Magnus-converted to a Nerf shotgun. Speaking of the Magnus, I'm currently trying out a mod for a combination Stryfe/Magnus that seems reminiscent of the M41A Pulse Rifle blaster coming out this fall. Once I've got that figured out, I'd love to send you the purchase links (or otherwise help you with the means) to try it out.
This blaster is such a letdown, it’s the same issue with the Trilogy-15, they’re both pump action and breach loading (the Trilogy uses shells, the Fortnite SG doesn’t), BUT THEY ONLY FIRE ONE AT A TIME. WHY???!!! If only the Trilogy and the SG hold at least 4 darts/shells or at most 8, they are worth buying, BUT NO, they are single shots like Jolts. My disappointment is IMMEASURABLE.
I could see it work as something you can turn into a Blunderbuss or a musketoon. It has the size and with some asthetic changes, you can complete that pirate or Napoleonic load out

I came here for a toy blaster review and left with Walcom’s childhood story and a lesson to learn.
A surprise to be sure but not an unwelcome one
What I find hilarious at this point is that nerf is living and dying by licensed toys at this point. All of the recent Licensed stuff is complete garbage through and through for the price. And all of the stuff that isn’t licensed isn’t selling because there are much better options for those that care offered by Dartzone, Zuru, and occasionally Buzzbee.
Nerf is just popular enough to get the brand rights. If they didn’t have that I genuinely think that Nerf would get out competed by now.
Hasbro back at it again with terrible “shotguns” for 2 years in a row that break one way or another. First the Warden in 2020 where the blaster breaks after some use and now the pump sg in 2021 where YOU break the blaster bc of how bad it is…
Only good shotguns they made were 3 shotguns with shotgun shells, and even there will be someone to say "I hate Trilogy DS-15" or smth like that
On the upside, at least we got to listen to some bangin' VVVVVV music while you complain about the landfill that "blaster" is
this video slowly became a therapy session and i was listening the whole time
Thanks Walcom. It's not always easy about talking about your past, and this video was quite touching. Hasbro should really think about their products and what they're releasing.
I completely agree. When he started talking about that my smile during the video turned to a frown in sadness for him as a kid
And they *left it out.*
For what?
Nerf is the first party?
I was actually hopeful for this blaster. What a disappointment. Screw you Hasbro. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Good job on the vid tho walcom. Also how is it even able to be considered a shotgun? It's single shot.

All the N-strike and early Elite blasters were absolutely ballin'

It not just nerf most of Hasbro’s quality control over the past few years has just been in the hole
I think quality started going away after 2013, not 2012. 2013 had some amazing blasters.

If there's one thing I never expected from Nerf, it's for their blaster to break at the grip, even the way you did it. Last I remember, these things were made of Nintendium.
That's kind of surprising.
I don't even know if they are actually made of Nintendium or if it's a joke..
I remember i walked into a target with my friends and saw this on the shelves. I was interested and picked up and started reading the box. I then laughed out loud in the middle of the store and brought one of my other friends who's into Nerf and told him.

Can you make it a master-key?
Not that I'd recommend buying it... but since you already have one with a 'Stock reduction mod'? ;P
Thought did cross my mind tbh.
If you just cut the shell and redid the barrel just to keep the grip and trigger. Sure could
With the FPS you were getting, I feel like you could probably rechamber it for 3 full or 6 Half length darts too.
Wouldn't be huge range but might be cool.
And you'd have the only effective version of the blaster! Lol
When I saw the thumbnail that's what i thought
That'd be a HUGE master key, with all that modding just use a bigshock

Totally didn't buy one too
You know, if I had to name what I would consider to be the most depressing Nerf blaster off the top of my head, I'd most likely end up answering with that one.
Edit: Im'a just throw this in: 1:42
Y are you so salty about the game
@@cdubz-gaming1234 at first I was confused since my comment was on a Nerf video. Anyways, I'm not salty over Chapt. 2, I just said that I hate Chapt. 2. Hating something doesn't mean I'm salty from it. Or are you asking why I hate Chapt. 2?
At least with the Roblox ones you do get rewards in the Roblox site and the Roblox games the blasters are based on
@@nazdoesstuffYT not just that.
Actually this is good blaster cause you can treat this one like a shotgun
About three minutes in. One shot long reload? Sounds like a cannon . Sign me up chief

Yk the guns bad when it’s legit faster to reload it like a fucking musket
My question is this though? Where is modulus? That line was great, and what baffles me is why we aren't getting re-releases of the blasters everyone loves, you know, the Stryfe, The Rapidstrike, The Alphatrooper, the Hammershot and the Roughcut. If Elite 2.0 was 2.0, wouldn't they make blasters that can be modded with lypos, new flywheel cages and no mechanical locks out of the box?
