- The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 with the original DB 605 Engine.
This former Luftwaffe aircraft has Werknummer #440738 and an original Engine DB 605 A with Werknummer #80077. Pilot is Mikael Carlson who is flying the Messerschmitt with the DB 605 Engine for his first time.
Video was recorded 2019 at Hangar 10 / Zirchow.
Sharing and thumbs up is welcome.
Watching that plane go wheels up, I can't help but to think of all the men who never put their gear down again. RIP to all those who braved the fearful skies in defense of their respective countries. Amazing men flying amazing machines
Very well put.
so basically, you love Nazis
many of these brave young men didn't even manage to put their gear up on these particular aircraft since it was also a handful during take-off and also landing put especially on take-off since it had a very narrow track undercarriage.
There was no honor in WWII. Allied pilots had to shoot down Germans who were fanatically and criminally fighting for the most murderous regime in history.
Not really defended considering they were the invaders of most of europe and africa
Now you see why every country wanted german scientists and engineers
Especially in the UK with the standard of shyte a/c

G-6 was one of the very first model fighter I had built in my childhood days from Airfix no.1 series sold in transparent styrene bags. Having no paint, I dearly loved it even in light blue plastic with underwing rocket/cannon options. At the age of 58 watching them flying in peace is something priceless. These birds are holy relics. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your lovely story
mehmet mutluoglu, I built the same model. I actually won a competition at my local hobby store with it. Apparently because I was the only one to paint it completely. That was when I was 9 yrs old; I’ m now 59!
@@warren4110 Congrats mate. I was 12 or 13 when I built it. My country was in a close circuit economy then and such foreign origin "luxury" stuff could only be in by smugglers. You could find only a single box of a model and you should buy it at the moment or forget it. Amongst friends, each was visiting that shop "secretly" to get the only (say) Stuka existing. Those were the days...
My first Airfix kit was the Series 1 BF 109, again in the transparent bags. Used to buy one tin of Humbrol paint each week until I had the paint required.
As kids we use to stuff the plasic models with hay and set them alight, before throwing them out the window!
What a beautiful and amazing example of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6. The sound is magic. I'm so grateful there are a few that are still flying today! Thanks for sharing the experience!

the sound of a Nazi pilot about to get his ass shot off by a Merlin
@@philipeldredge7136 is that an American engine?
I dont even like planes🤣🤣 im here for the 10 time just to hear its sound, thats just perfect.

I've not heard a DB605 before this, but you can feel the power as it made those low passes over the airfield. Very impressive !
I love Mustangs and American built radial monsters but the BF-109 is one aircraft that's hard to beat in sound and looks
Thats True thanks watching
I do too. But the lonely P-39 is a real hot rod under 10,000'. It didn't have a super but could do 368. Not too damn bad. The Russians proved it many times. Plus it looks great.
@@craigpennington1251 Soviet La-7 was also pretty awesome. The best Allied fighter ace Kozhedub used it in the late stages of the war and managed to shoot down a 262 and a pair of US Mustangs which mistook him for a Fw.190 while they were attacking a German bomber.
actually its not that hard to beat. The Spitfires and Mustangs BOTH beat the crap out of these. this piece of crap should be at the bottom of the english channel where it belongs.

Just seen this for the first time. Absolutely superb, high quality video of a beautiful aircraft. There are not many good vids on 109's. What i liked most was the inclusion of the pre-flight checks and engine shut down, something not usually seen in most warbird videos. Subscribed, albeit a couple of years late!

I love the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and the sound of the DB 605 at the minimum rpm!.
It's amazing there are still pilots today they know how to fly this aircraft...
Luckily we have them
Ex military and retired airline pilots. I'd imagine that if you can fly a Panavia Tornado or an Airbus A340, you can fly one of these.
@@firefightergoggie No, that's not so simple... For example: In commercial aviation you need a license for every different type of airplane before you may piloting it... Even if you talk about a successor of a previous same type aircraft...
@Pepper Grinder You can think that there are no differences at different planes... Ask the pilots of Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines... They were in the beginning seamlessly thinking that the were flying just the aircraft as they were previous flying in and got used to it... And they crashed, failing to understand what MCAS was doing, how to prevent it from doing this and at last... They even didn't recognize a so called "trim runaway", which could helped them recover the aircraft if they knew how the system operates and disable it... Little training is never enough... That's why flying hours matter so much in aviation. In every type of aircraft, your starting count is ZERO!!!
@Pepper Grinder Actually, every type of plane is different, even the different ones of the same make and model. Every single plane has its own quirks. That's why whenever you are about to fly a new plane, or a new type, an instructor has to "check you out", to make sure you are qualified and know all of its quirks. Flying a 1500 hp single engine fighter, is very different than flying a 737. A lot of training and experience and training are required. (Flown no less than 10 models of plane myself.)
Excellent stuff! It is very refreshing to see the 'axis' aircraft in the air.

Audio of the engine sounds in this video are outstanding 👌. It's often very difficult to find Warbird videos on UA-cam that have good audio of the engines starting up. The staff at these events so often have the cameraman way far back from he airplanes. Also I am sure there was alot of investment by the cameraman in this video for a really good mic.

@@reigaterobot4965 haha yes you may well be right each time I hear a WW2 era piston engine it makes me giddy, which is best is entirely within the ears of the listener. The Merlin is wonderful.
What an amazing restoration. After the war, the Allies required that ALL aircraft engines be destroyed so that Germany could not rearm. So just being able to find a DB605 is amazing. And it was interesting how easily the engine fired up, and how crisp the throttle response was. Allied engines took a long time to build combustible mixture when cranking, and put out a lot of smoke when they finally fired. German engines had fuel injection, so had better starting and low-speed tractability.
The whistle of the supercharger in the high speed passes was beautiful. Not as highly boosted as the Merlin, the DB engines had higher displacement to make the same power.
You sure know a lot about engines...!

I dunno...I'm a Canadian Australian, and the Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane are embedded in my historical lineage.... but I'm going to commit heresy here. Dare I say it, but I think the Bf-109 is a better looking airplane.
Personal opinion of course, but the Bf-109 does look better, and sounds a hell of a lot better.
Spitfire took a dunk on most 109s in real life, but I’d rather fly a 109 than a spitfire imo
@@Kay_213_ Spitfire was better in the end. Early 109 with the injected engine was better than the Spitfire. I too would take the 109 over anything else of that era. For some reason we all love the German World War Two equipment.

Except the 162. Straight to the junkyard
@John Smith They were evenly matched until the Spit Mk XIV... Even the 109K4 couldn't match that one, and I say this a huge fan of the Bf109. But I agree, especially with bad tactics during the BoB, that and lack of time over target/fuel reserve. One wonders what the 109's would have done with drop tanks and more favorable tactics.

Many inventions are German origin...but today these people are gone , this people will never return...
