I agree that it was and is a catchy song but it apart from the acting and lip syncing Rob and Fab had no part in the creation or performance of the song. That said, those two poor men were completely used as pawns and then scapegoats.
Thank you Chris, it is so true Milli Vanilli did sign their soul away. So did 99% of Hollywood. I grew up around the music industry and my grandfather refused to take me to the studios. I was always so upset he wouldn't take me, then I got older and understood what's really happening in the industry.😢

Frank Farian did this more than once. Boney M Milli Vanilli and LaBouche. They were scapegoats. They weren't taught about the industry and they weren't even developed properly. People bullied them and they were disgraced forever. If you look at today's artists everyone lipsyncs. There's lots of auto tune and people just dance and shake their butts. RIP Rob🕊️🙏❤️
Fab actually has a good voice and I'd rather hear him cover the songs than the original artist. I love that Fab always give a heartfelt tribute to his late friend in his concerts.

Thanks for doing this case. Not a bloody, messy, sad one in the way that they usually are. Although I have to say that when this scandal happened, that I did feel bad for Rob and Fab because they were definitely used by the producer and they were naive, while trying to ride along with the opportunity, they were not the owners of the intellectual property. And therefore didn't make the bulk of the revenue from the success of the music. But they were the ones whose faces were seen by the public and they suffered major shame and embarrassment. Yes, I would say they were the scapegoats of the scandal. They didn't set it up.

They definitely should have read the contract but that is pretty much the only thing in this you can blame on Rob and Fab. Life isn't necessarily always fair and it most certainly wasn't fair that the two of them took most of the wrath. Frank's career should have been completely buried. He alone should be synonymous with the so-called "Mili Vanilli"-scandale.
Frank Farian was evil. Their songs were great, no matter who sang them. Milli Vanilli was just the start of a crapload of lip-syncing scandals in the late 80's, early '90s. Martha Wash provided uncredited vocals to C&C Music Factory, Black Box and Seduction. She was discriminated against because she was plus-size. Also Technotronic's video for "Pump Up the Jam" featured a skinny, pretty "singer" named Felly, when the real singer was a tomboyish rapper named Ya Kid K. She appeared in their next video, "Move This".

At that time, I was heavily into The Doors, I just discovered The Who and then Led Zeppelin. But I do feel very sorry for Rob and Fab; especially poor Rob nevertheless. Bizarrely, I was talking about Boney-M _yesterday_ evening with my wife after hearing Mary's Boy-child playing in a restaurant. I'm British, she's American, and I hadn't realized that Boney-M had almost no success in the US. Their biggest hit in the US reached #30.
I loved em even after I found out..they were cute, different n had tons of energy n I loved to dance right along with em..sad they got screwed..I always hoped they'd come back on their own but celebrity life is cruel😢😢
I don't care who is singing I love the songs they were great are great and if ever they play them on the radio which is once in a great moon it's a treat. Like I said it doesn't matter who is singing the songs are great

They did also play their instruments. Micky was and still is a fantastic drummer. Mike played acoustic guitar and peter played guitar and banjo. Davy just did his tambourine and maracas but had a beautiful voice. Not sure why people thought they couldn't sing or play.

i cannot see the what they really did wrong. it all reminds me of when the world learned TV quiz shows were fixed, the self-righteous moral outrage, even Congressional hearings. a big duh, its only entertainment.
I think maybe we owe them an apology. I know there are a bunch of people that have a couple of their songs somewhere on their playlist & with the trash music that’s out now they were actually ahead of their time. I’m partly kidding but their two hit songs weren’t that bad as compared to 90% of what’s considered music now.
I really think that Frank should be ashamed of himself. Those two had talent, and the only thing he did was destroy them. All of the artists at one time or another lip synced. That was the norm…. And I think they should have gotten more credit than everyone seems to give them. They worked their butts off doing what a contract told them they had to do. Sad story….

I am from Germany and this was huge back home when I grew up as a teen listening to them. Today nobody would even care if they sang or not.
