The view from that bridge is nuts. To think it's supporting a million or more pounds of dynamic load, plus the tractive forces from the locomotives... Don't look down!
Peter, wonderful video! Question - When you are in the first locomotive, how you control the second locomotive power ? Does changing your throttle change the same level in the rear one, electrically ?
There is a large jumper cable and three air hoses that connect the locos together. After setting up the brakes and flicking a few switches, both locos will operate as one.
Thank You, As mentioned already - all done via a trainline. You'll probably notice in this video the engines doing different things (puff of smoke and sudden engine loading) This is caused by slightly different settings to the Field Shunt (or transition) contactors.
Many thanks Peter for another great video of my favourite locomotive. Can I ask you a technical question please? The vast majority of DA's were built or refitted with EMD Dofasco flexicoil bogies whereas the Australian Clyde built DA's were built with their own bogies. Is there any difference the two bogies in the ride quality and which one do you prefer?
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video! The Aussie Da is the nicest riding and I prefer this one over a Dofasco Da. Each Clyde bogie is fitted with 4 longitudinal and 4 lateral hydraulic dampers, these contribute to the smooth ride. I'll post a video sometime which shows the bogie suspension working. Cheers

Love listening to these
Got to love that sound!
Excellent video, mate! Both locos sounded brilliant all day! Great excursion too!
They did well in their original stomping ground!
@@trainfixer1981 No doubt about it!
Amazing sounds from two strokes engines of EMDs G12s locomotives! 🚆🚆🚆
Haha, was right on the other side of the tracks filming her leave.
