    I never thought this track was anything special the first X times (X>50 probably) I listened to In Rainbows. Then, like a few days ago, this particular song got stuck in my head, in a loop, non-stop.
    Sometimes I think my subconscious is better at picking good songs than my... mmm, conscious?

    • @Zapdos964
      @Zapdos964 3 роки тому +1

      Oooh, so relatable! It's an idea to really analyze which parts of the song come up and what they mean to you, your subconscious might actually be trying to tell you something that you haven't realized yet. And maybe it is just the fact that this is a great song haha, but who knows. You might learn something useful about yourself, something you had to know.

    I'd abandoned them after being cliche blown over as an OK Computer devotee in college as the most flawless record I'd ever heard - opinions, its all good - still feel it - and was so bewildered by Kid A (love it now but took a decade)until I saw In Rainbows at age 30ish on PBS running the performance the "Live From The Basement" , unaware they even had an album - and was so blown to pieces by this hour of music and thrilled they still could do - 'this' -and then bought the studio record(and there is a B-Side of all B-Sides to this one like so many of their albums) - just super jealous of you man, it one of the greatest albums you'll come across and it'll be with you for life and you are only 3 tracks in. Thanks for sharing it is fun to watch! You'll get tired of people telling you to watch the Basement show but they are all correct but definitely not until you finish the album. Then seeing them do it live completes the circle of what makes this band and album so beloved. It is fairly mind blowing I will say. Much thanks!

    • @jameshannagan7830
      @jameshannagan7830 3 роки тому

      Same here Kid A pissed me off and I stopped listening to them as well now a lot of other music does not do it for me anymore.

    • @dreww1609
      @dreww1609 3 роки тому +2

      @@jameshannagan7830 Yeah, ha! When OK Computer convinced me it was our Sgt Pepper I was still into a zillion bands and genres so I left so disheartened after Kid A with plenty of routes but it gets harder as you get older so by chance I was watching PBS (huh? really?) in 2007 or 2008 and saw Radiohead was coming up, had some 'medicine' real quick and was so shocked at how much it hit me (a band I knew takes many listens usually grabbed me with new material instantly bigtime) and so elated to learn they had made more music at this caliber. It then led me back to all their live clips at the dawn of the youtube era and that night I found an acoustic "There, There" (still my favorite song of theirs I had ignored for 5 years of its existence) which nearly made me cry it was so amazing and still is, and 13 years later after 2 o 3 years of gradually finally "getting" all of it and scooping up all the songs I missed the first 2 or 6 times now at 45 I am almost trapped! 'I love the entire discography, the 50 B Sides, the 20ish singles, and same number of unreleased tracks (Follow Me Around) and shake my head at how I didn't get; The National Anthem - seriously? - or Like Spinning Plates - and now I am humble with it but yup - pretty much have to force myself to try to open my mind to allow any other band in, which is sad because while Radiohead may in fact be as elevated above everything else as it feels like, its a shame to rob oneself of amazing alternatives that obviously exist. But its almost like a good disease I try not to push on anyone else, just nudge when I can :) But I owe it all to In Rainbows and stumbling onto that airing of the Basement concert.

    Someone else has probably already mentioned this, but once you finish In Rainbows, you should start at the beginning of their discography like you did with TOOL, so you can experience their evolution and appreciate the changes, both subtle and not so subtle throughout the years.
    My personal favorite albums are the Kid A/Amnesiac double album and OK Computer, but I also really like The Bends and Pablo Honey.
    Either way, not a dud in the bunch.

    After In Rainbows, perhaps go back to the beginning or at least do OK Computer and then chronologically go forward like you did with Tool. There is so much progression in their sound and it would take you on such a journey.

  • @memetherapy

    This is one of their better albums, but they genuinely have so much gold, it's a must to go through their catalogue chronologically... but slowly. I'd start with either The Bends or OK Computer and then just continue. Maybe you can make a series on each, but don't move onto the next right after. Give it at least a month or 2 or 12 or more to simmer... Radiohead is one of the best bands when it comes to growers. Allow yourself to enjoy the experience, and don't move fast just because it'll create content.

      Yes! Starting with The Bends and going forward is so much fun, and for me created a ten year nonstop love affair with them.. The Bends is one of the best guitar driven albums ever made. And Ok Computer, it’s from another planet..
