- TikTok seems pretty sure that the God of the ancient Hebrews had a wife, an idea that perhaps would debunk the Jewish story of covenant with the One Lord God. We asked Jimmy Akin, author of The Bible Is a Catholic Book to evaluate the merits of the whole “God had a wife” idea.
I remember linking some of Dan's videos to the CA twitter account asking about this very thing!! So glad to see Jimmy giving a thorough Catholic response!
Love this stuff! I have friends that bring up these things to me as a way to discredit catholicism and I just roll my eyes. Now I have something informative to say. :)
Also, the thumbnail is very funny!
Jimmy. Pick a pronunciation of Asherah. You used THREE
Came from a tik tok video right to here. Thanks for the explanation.
I would love to hear Jimmy Akin's thoughts on Michael Heiser's divine council work
Stop with the "this guy." Absolutely disrespectful to a published Biblical scholar who writes for the SBL.
There is a longstanding temptation to add a divine female counterpart to God, to create a queen of heaven to pay respects to.
We already got a Queen of Heaven
We have been venerating the Queen mother for a long time. “When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king’s mother, and she sat down at his right hand.” 1 Kings 2:19
Not gonna trust the analysis of a guy who doesn't even know how to pronounce Baal.
I just don't understand why you use "Jews" and "Israelites" as synonyms. Even calling Abraham a Jew. How can Abraham be a Jew ? Jew being a variation of a Judahite, a descendant of the tribe of Judah, which came into existance centuries after Abraham.
yeah. weird
You can either call in to ask this question at Catholic Answers Live online or go to their website to ask. They will explain it to you.
@@southernlady1109 I mean, I don't really need an explanation, I know the difference. It's just that they use words as synonyms when they really shouldnt.
Abraham was the father of all the Jews. Kind of pretty much makes Abraham a Jew doesn’t it? 😉
@@SF-my2ym No actually, it doesnt. Plenty of nations can trace their lineage to Abraham.
