The 2013 Lexus GX 460 is a lot more rugged then you may think. This may be one of the last boxy SUVs out there as the new spindle grille and sleek lines will be more integrated into the design in the coming years. The price on a new 2013 Lexus GX 460 is $53,795.

Under the hood is a 4.6 liter V-8 engine that makes 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft. of torque and there is a 6-speed automatic transmission. The full-time 4WD system can handle tough off-road situations with ease. Fuel economy is 15 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway.
The Lexus GX 460 has a 3rd row of seats and can carry up to 7 passengers. This is a Luxury SUV that doubles as a true utility vehicle. While the outside is butch and rugged, the inside is all Lexus luxury. The comfortable leather seats are heated and cooled. There is a touch screen navigation system and a Mark Levinson stereo which is one of the best in the business.
The 2013 Lexus GX 460 is a very capable vehicle. The high seating position gives you a commanding view of the road. You can ditch the pavement, pop it into 4-low, and get this SUV dirty. It's a great dual purpose nature vehicle.

U go it right man this is the real rig of old school with new school!
A lot of people didn't know this vehicle are one of the best off-road out there. It has one of the best if not the AWD system. Also the engine and build quality are very reliable will last for a very long time
I think it is better off and on road just because it will not breakdown and leave you stranded on the side of the road…just don’t trust bmw, audis, or benzes past the 2 year mark anymore…

I have a gx fully loaded and I love it
I'm looking for a kid carrier for my twin boys, mom won't do a minivan, and the Sequoia's just aren't as nice. Do I need 4WHD, no but these just feel better than their Toyota equivalent and now that some are older the price is the same or the GX is cheaper ... Best possible outcome!
I own an older one of these , waaay better car than X5, Cayenne, ML and GL. I owned every one of them and this is way better
A couple of questions:
1. Does it like to get dirty or play in the mud?
2. Does it have a dual nature?

It does like to get dirty actually. After this video, we got it totally filthy...
It does have the dual nature of being able to play off road but then clean up and drive to a nice dinner or evening out.
Uhhh why did he drive around the mud at the end and then say how the vehicle is meant to get muddy? Overall this review wasn't very impressive and had very little off-road footage.
Toyota landcruiser / Lexus lx are both very capable offroad vehicles too. Ask the desert dwellers who often travel over desert n rocks n mountains....
However you put it its just a top end landcruiser prado with lexus extra touches.

The MDX is good too... And I prefer the LR4 for an Off-Roader in this class.

In my opinion the GX would be far better than the Rover Sports which is not as reliable.

In Europe, it's a Toyota Land Cruiser...
In Europe they do not sell Lexus GX and only offer the Land Cruiser. I would say that the Land Cruiser is the same as it is not as Luxurious.
A European Land Cruiser V8 is the nearest thing to the GX but it costs about $100,000.

This is an awful review. The LX/Land Cruiser is a much more capable vehicle not the other way around. It is known for it around the world. Also Lexus/Toyota is known for making the best off-road vehicles. Please make trustworthy reviews that we can trust.
Late reply granted...but while the LX is certainly without question very capable..."much more capable" than the GX? The GX (or overseas Toyota Prado) is used the world over along side the LX and is in fact close, if not as capable, as the LX. The TLC, and perhaps LX depending on year, might have slightly better approach and departure angles and clearance...but if wanting a true hardcore off-roader an after market kit would solve these GX issues.
