At 6:29, you'll notice that the GMT hand jumps forward when Jody pushes in the crown. This can be infuriating but you need to roll the crown back ever so slightly when the GMT hand reaches the right place (obviously not so much that you change the date). By doing this you release the tension in the movement and you don't get the GMT hand jumping forward vwhen you press the crown in.
I had a Parnis GMT that had that same issue with the minute hand as well as the GMT hand jumping. Though it is true that backing off the crown a little to release the tension prevented the hands from jumping, I noticed that when I did that those hand would not start moving right away, it would take a half minute for the minute hand to start moving and it would take several minutes for the GMT hand to start moving, making it an infuriating process to set both hands precisely. That drove me crazy and I quickly got rid of the watch. Seeing that hand jump in Jody's video totally ruined it for me.
I thought it jumped to the proper time, because Jody put the watch at 1:50 then adjusted the GMT to 18:00, but the watch auto adjusted the hand to 18:50 to be at the correct time.
But not a photocopier that cost a 100x more...? you think rolex design these in house?🤣 Big secret bud.... they pay watch artist alot of money to call it a "ROLEX"! most artists designed "IN THIER HOUSE" 🤣😂... rolex is ridiculous! That's insane!! No watch should cost 50k to wear... its called stupidity... there are way better investments then 50k rolex! Only for the dumb rich people with know sense!! Pigani all day!!
I'm starting to suspect Mr Pagani was Jody all along lol Seriously tough, you were among the first to review Pagani and now even UA-camrs that snubbed the brand are now reviewing it. Bravo!
I bought a Pagani last year. Nothing lined up on the watch face or the bevel. Put it on line for sale the same day I received it. Saved my money and bought something a little better, A Tudor. Magic.
I've had mine a week or just under and can agree with everything, for the asking price it's at least as good as every Pagani, but personally I think it's easily the best so far. On the movement I ca t see why it should fail prematurely. I have an Aeromatic GMT flieger watch which is still going strong with its cheap as chips Chinese movement of unknown origins. 7 years on its still faultless keeping good time 😎
Got mine last week and found the the movement IS truly the main concern. Second hand jumped ahead upon startup and was running 2-3 min/day slow. Regulated it to -10 to -15/ day and am ok with that. but still worry about it's longevity. LOVE the watch otherwise :-) One of the best "wearing" watches in my collection.
I've got this piece, and I'm honestly blown away by the fit and finish. Shame about the minor issues, but the fact you can put it next to a Rolex without it looking like crap speaks volumes about what Pagani Design can achieve at such low prices nowadays.
It speaks volumes on what pagani achieves or that Rolexes are heavily overpriced. Funny part is that Rolexes are mass-produced watches as well…relatively to other luxury watchbrands
I was going to buy an explorer but couldn’t decide weather to go with the yacht master of explorer II. The price has gone way up now and it costs well above 10k. Now I can buy something like this to try out what style I like more.
This is one of the Pagani Design watches I haven't actually reviewed... Yet anyway. It does look pretty good though. The hands do look a touch small however.
I got the Pagani 1682 just 3 days ago, and I found they have now made the hands as big as the Rolex has them. The straight piece of the hour hand is now almost square as on the Rolex, and the minute hand is as wide as the circular hour index markers. The Mercedes star is also as wide as the Rolex. The seconds hand is also stronger now. And the GMT hand has the syringe tip too now. Looks pretty damned good now, I have to admit. If there only wasn't that scratching when you wind the movement. As if there is no lubrication applied inside the barrel. The deviation so far is zero to +3 seconds a day when the watch is worn, +7 to +10 when put on the shelf, no matter which way. The timegrapher shows any value between -30 and +30 within five minutes of observation in all possible positions. But when worn, only +few seconds at most - hey, that's what matters, and you can't complain about that, do you?!
I got mine about 4 1/2 hours ago sized it feels really comfortable. Gunmetal grey is currently a very popular color, upgrade from black. When I opened the box I have to admit I was surprised, (I've left buying homage a while ago I thought). For a little over a buck it's a bargain. Plus it comes with an orange NATO strap.
HELLOOOO from Dallas, Texas! Just received my Pagani 1661 today and I am THOROUGHLY impressed. Same specs, size, weight, respectable movement, and decent bracelet. All for $100!? Wow.
I've had the Parnis GMT master for a good year, and the movement has just been exceptional. Never missed a beat and extremely low variation in accuracy month to month. Pretty gritty on the hand wind but it's a non issue. The only movement I've had in my budget collection that impresses me more is the one that came in the Parnis Explorer. DG three hander. Every bit of the action and performance is ETA good at least. China has been putting in the work for good affordable enthusiast watches, and I'm fairly sure they'll own the next few decades when enthusiasts my age start to come into financial security.
I absolutely do acknowledge Pagani Design watches but never got one due to one fatal design flaw on Pagani Design watches.Cant they just have logo, instead the logo and "Pagani Design" on the word, it just become to excessive for me.
This was my first Pagani... definitely not my last. I was very impressed. I don't love the cyclops but I usually don't love cyclops. I definitely don't love the diver's extension. As you said, 'Why, Oh WHY Pagani?' The only people that is going to impress are non watch fans that happen to see one in a shop. NO watch guys are going to be won over because of that extension. Literally none. I do quite like the bracelet though, and the clasp, other than the extension. Overall though, amazing watch for the $$$. In my opinion, only bested by the Explorer 1 homage by Pagani which is probably a touch more versatile while this is more sporty. Pick your poison or get both. Yeah... get both.
I have a Parnis GMT that’s about 3 years old. It works pretty well, but the first adjustment setting is getting a bit hard to “find” and engage to set the date. I will eventually open it and have a look at what the problem might be. Other than that, it works well with about the same numbers you’re getting off you Pagani.
Agree the case finishing on the pagani is exceptional for the price . Major downside I found found the inner clasp has sharp edges and is uncomfortable on wrist . The movement is around 35 secs a day out a little more than I would normally tolerate . If it were not for these two flaws it would get some wrist time . Comfort is a must and sharp edges are uncomfortable and annoying so probably retired to a box and never worn .again ..
Got it couple of weeks ago, I'd love to get one with the screw down crown. My observations so far. Finishing of the case and bezel is great. Lume is mediocre. The bracelet is great, almost on the level of Zelos. However, the clasp is a big disappointment. After two days of using is started getting loose and closing it requires slight realignment or using force. I guess I will buy a different clasp. The movement seem to be late, which aligns with the timegrapher tests, you've made. However, what I found super annoying is when you push down the crown after setting the time/gmt hand, the hands move. It happened to yours in the video at 6:27. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, it will scratch the itch until I get the real Explorer :)
8:50 The "3" Is Way Easier To Read On The Pagani But Yeah, The Hands Are Smaller.... Got Mine A Couple Of Weeks Ago And Needed The Beat Rate, Thanks....
What I very much like about this Pagani is that while it clearly mimics the Rolex, it doesn't try to pretent it IS a Rolex. It's just different enough that it's unpretentious, and just similar enough that people who know Rolex look twice and chuckle. I want them to chuckle at my Pagani so I can show them the Triumph Bonneville I bought with the money I saved. Then I can chuckle.
Bought this watch for travel and very happy so far (6 months). However, I have to say that while the handset IS smaller than the current Explorer, they are about the same size as the previous version of this watch (Ref 16570) Have a look.
Well, 3 years and it's actually become slightly more accurate! It gets compliments and I enjoy wearing it. It's the watch I decided to take to Europe for two weeks. Great value.
Hi Jodi, I have watched many of your videos and when you reviewed this watch from Pagani I wanted it I almost bought it thru EBAY at $120. and lost out. Two days ago on the 2nd of July I saw it for $99.98 on EBAY again. With everything, shipping, and tax I was at $115.00. Two days later, today I had it on my front porch..Super watch, very well made, and designed using the Rolex of course, as a template. Keep up the great work sir, you beat out your fellow watch reviewers by being very knowledgeable and frankly your a fun person. Lance
I'm probably alone on this, but I'm really glad Pagani includes the diver's extension. I have no intention of ever swimming with a Pagani, but it's nice to have that little bit of extra room on hot days. My wrist swells quite a bit
Great review and very fair, I bought one along with the Daytona, NTTD and Black bay heritage after your Ali express Homage video. First time with Pagani and Ali Express. So far very impressed with this and the Daytona certainly the Daytona is pretty close to my Stienhart Vintage Gmt, still waiting for the other two. I believe they have improved the finishing on the Black bay which I think you highlighted . Well that's what I have been told is the reason for the delay but they are in the uk now so hopefully have the last two by Friday.
Thank you for bringing this budget un heard of brand to my attention. Yes some may turn their noses up at the fact its a 1:1 Homage and not the real thing. But with Sapphire glass, ceramic bezel , seiko movement and their cheap as chips pricing, its a no brainer to add a few to your collection.
@@SinanTrance I assume that's a joke and if so you're in my camp.Snookers about as much threat to a watch as a raindrop is to a slab of concrete unless its an auto in which case it could just explode and never tick again? Why do such valuable watches need treating like cotton wool.
Better than I thought it was going to be. I'm starting to consider buying one for myself. I'm a fan of affordable watches for this exact reason. Thanks for the review, Jody.
If they would stop putting "pagani design" on their dials and just use the logo id buy all their models. I just cant get past that a company is calling themselves "pagani design" when they aren't Italian and they arent really designing much. Keep the pagani design on the case back and scale down the dial text..
@@Libertà_sulla_vita it annoys you they're called Pagani design while not being Italian and not designing anything - yet it's ok that they make a cheap Rolex copy. It just all seems dishonest to me.
@@Adb07d they arent calling themselves rolex so no one can claim its a rolex. If it had rolex on the dial then id have an issue because its counterfeit at that point. Barrowing a design is one thing, using a name of another manufacturer is something entirely different.
I just got a Pagani Design PD-1662 (GMT Master II homage) and the clasp has an Easy Link inspired extension system that I think works really well. I use it to deal with my wrist size fluctuating throughout the day and I forget I am using it until my watch gets loose on my wrist.
Looks like this one has a common problem of this movement, the hacking is very inconsistent. 6:08 when you pull the crown out the second hand hacks, but when you move the hands, the second hand starts moving again.
This is a nice one that I might have to get ordered - in all but one or 2 places the visual quality is definitely there. Like you say, shame the hands are different - I think the main reason for this is they've just reused the hands from their other GMT models and changed the colour
Looks good, but that GMT hand on the Pagani is shaky. It looks fast by about 12 minutes in one pic! Or had you just adjusted the hands for the shot? I only noticed because several years ago I rebuilt a Citizen GMT B876 ecodrive movement, from a complete pile of bits and it was a pain to get the 24 hr hand positioned correctly. Where's my hammer!
Pagani's watches are getting scary good. Say, Jody, did you see the updated PD Seamaster clomage? New wave dial, new colors & a new bracelet (thankfully no HEV). Man, its giving me all kinds of ideas and I may not be able to resist the temptation.
I bought this watch and have to agree, it’s a stunner! However, my GMT function won’t keep time. It lags an hour behind. Is there a trick to setting it?
3:00 Viewers! Hold any watch up to the screen next to that watch. See the Massive difference in size. That's why focusing on details between real and homage watches makes no sense when worrying on how close they are. In the real wearing world, it is impossible to see the differences. The basic look and feel are all you will notice.
I think the idices are smaller too and the dial texture a little less glossy too, the indices and hands contributing to a less attractivly crowded dial, too much flat white in comparison....
I bought the V2 version after watching your review (V4 Seiko movement available but double the V2 price). 7 days to the UK. Great finish and timekeeping so far but it's been only a few days since it arrived. One Question: Having owned several Rolexes over the last 30 years with Jubilee bracelets (I have another on order - this is a stop gap) is there a Pagani Jubilee bracelet with end links which would fit this watch? I know aficionados of Rolex would go crazy at the thought, but... it's not a Rolex, and I can do whatever I like!! Anyhow, compared to a Rolex this is 90% as good.
what do you prefer, a red ferrari or a red fiat panda? They look almost identical, both red colour and 4 wheels... from 0 to 100km/h they drive at the same speed
I think the hands are a copy of the earlier Explorer 2 (I think 16570) and I think the narrower hands look better. They look too chunky on the later Rolex. My braclet isn't as tight as yours around the endlinks, I have a little bit of rattle. I've removed the cheap clasp extension and it feels better without it. Overall the Pagani is an impressive watch for the money, I'm pretty happy with my one.
I had a late 1980's Explorer 2....it work great until the warranty ran out. After that...it spent more time being repaired than it did on my wrist! Finally, I gave up a put it back in its box and into drawer until it was stolen after Hurricane Katrina in 2005! Luckily...I had a rider on my homeowners insurance that covered theft. I got more $$$$ from them than what I had spent for the watch to begin with.
Currently going for 80 quid (inc VAT) and free shipping from AE "7 day delivery". Very tempting but I've already recently bought three watches in the last couple of weeks.
Just bought this and for what I need it to do, a casual sports watch, it ticks all the right boxes. If only they came out with a 40mm version this would be the perfect everyday beater watch. Just cant see myself wearing a real rolex for the same duty due to the value of said watch.
The latest version 24 hour hand does have the "syringe" tip to it and the hands appear more like the Rolex. Then again, I do not have a Rolex, so what do I know??
Does this movement have any detents in the positioning of the 24 hr hand? I have a cheapie Parnis GMT which looks nice but getting the GMT hand in the proper spot is a bit difficult. I have one of the Pagani Daytona knockoffs which has quite a good rendering of the easy link adjuster; it's a pity they didn't include it on this watch.
Years back I had an Alpha 1993 homage to the Explorer II and remember it quite fondly. Enough so that I went searching again for another the other day only to find none available. Bummer. Maybe I'll give Paganini a shot.
Sadly one of the clasp pins broke on my Pagani GMT, I did pick this up off your recommendation and I love the watch but the clasp is definitely a weak point. Can you recommend a good aftermarket Bracelet or clasp to replace it with?? Im not sure if I'll hear back from Pagani in terms of a warranty or not. But a recommendation would be appreciated.
Has anyone noticed that it has the small rubber o ring on the screw down crown. I only seen that in a Rolex. And the screw down crown is nice and thick and smooth Not as smooth as a Rolex but smoother than many brand name watches.
If the Rolex costs 100 times more than the Pagani Design watch, then you could buy 100 of the Pagani Design homage. It's a very nice looking watch. The value and quality for the price is astonishing. Thank You for the review. 6/22/22.
Dear Jodi (sp?): Great video. The v2 came out recently. Fixed hands! Fixed orange hand. Nice bracelet.....amazing upgrade. The movement reportedly is stable...who knows.... but a re-review of the new one may be good for people. I am much happier with the new version.
You nailed it in that review. I've got that Pagani GMT and I'm well impressed with the build. The weak spot is the clasp and yes that movement is the gamble however its the best Pagani yet imo
Just re-watched this as the Pagani Explorer 2 is top of the list for my next watch. They’ve since released a version 2 which seems have sorted the issues.
I just got my first Pagani Design The Pagani Seamaster the one with the red and white colors red and white strap and the NH35 Sieko movement. So far I am impressed with Pagani Design.
Haha that drives me nuts with every GMT movement that doesn't have the hour jump going on, one reason to wish Pagani would use a seagull instead
almost as good as a rolex
Had the same issue with a 1000 $ Longines.

I'm probably alone on this, but I'm really glad Pagani includes the diver's extension. I have no intention of ever swimming with a Pagani, but it's nice to have that little bit of extra room on hot days. My wrist swells quite a bit
me too, I have 2 watches from Pagani and the extension is very welcome.
But this is no small adjustment like on the std Pagani clasp. That’s a half link. This is more like two full links. So no good for wrist swelling.
Love it better if they did a glide lock.
@@karlsenula9495 agree, even the Rolex is missing this.
Jody, pagani have released a v2 that now has the same handset as the Rolex. It looks much nicer
This is actually one pagani that looks different to the Rolex which is disappointing because it’s one of my favourite looking Rolexes
Great to wear in the ghetto where you can robbed for stunting the real deal
And now that will make 3 watches purchased this week😬. Damn you JOMW!
Sorry Dave!
@Review Master He does also wear a limited edition IWC and a JLC reverso. About 10 grand total 🤷🏼♂️
@Review Master I noticed that Wilson was also wearing a digital Casio in the world championship just gone.
@@glennpowell3444 Likely because they see playing snooker as putting unnecessary strain on the watch movement. Vibrations, impact, etc why risk it?
@@SinanTrance I assume that's a joke and if so you're in my camp.Snookers about as much threat to a watch as a raindrop is to a slab of concrete unless its an auto in which case it could just explode and never tick again? Why do such valuable watches need treating like cotton wool.
Ah, so 99% of the performance for 1% of the price? If only it came with quartz, we could have a further 200% of the performance for 50% of the price.
listen mr cynical, were steam freaks, get your deisel locos off my lawn...
@@jamesblonde2271 very clever, much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My Pagani is in Germany already but it still hasn't passed customs, let's hope the best!
Just hope it isn't shipping by SF Express!
@@23727bgk it is! :( I ordered via Amazon, so should be relatively safe.
I order through Jody's link on Ali so that he gets a commission
Better than I thought it was going to be. I'm starting to consider buying one for myself. I'm a fan of affordable watches for this exact reason. Thanks for the review, Jody.
Happy with mine, picked it up for $129cdn, overall quality hard to beat for the price, pleasant watch to wear and so far, accurate a +- 2 sec a day.
If they would stop putting "pagani design" on their dials and just use the logo id buy all their models. I just cant get past that a company is calling themselves "pagani design" when they aren't Italian and they arent really designing much. Keep the pagani design on the case back and scale down the dial text..
^THIS
So that's what you get hung up on but not the
fact that the entire company is a giant ripoff. Okay...
@@Adb07d its not really a rip-off for what you get. They might be ripping rolex off but i dont have stock in rolex so that dont bother me.
Hi can u plz tell the dial color of rolex explorer 2 is also plain white like pagani or if the rolex dial is little beige in color???
I just got a Pagani Design PD-1662 (GMT Master II homage) and the clasp has an Easy Link inspired extension system that I think works really well. I use it to deal with my wrist size fluctuating throughout the day and I forget I am using it until my watch gets loose on my wrist.
Still a very nice watch for us mere working class folk. Thanks as always Jody
Looks like this one has a common problem of this movement, the hacking is very inconsistent. 6:08 when you pull the crown out the second hand hacks, but when you move the hands, the second hand starts moving again.
Does anyone think Jody would make the most awesome Science Teacher ever?
Wow! I really don't like the Pagani brand name but I admit I am impressed at the homage, especially for the price!
This is a nice one that I might have to get ordered - in all but one or 2 places the visual quality is definitely there. Like you say, shame the hands are different - I think the main reason for this is they've just reused the hands from their other GMT models and changed the colour
I've bought a few Paganis and I have to be honest not one of them has disappointed me.
Pagani makes very good watches for the price, I wish they would make something unique more often.
Great work. So so very interesting to see the watches next to each other. Thank you
An important negative to mention is the mag loupe which provides too much distortion, especially in the center where it affects function the most
Thank you Jodi, nice comparison. no one else shows us such a complete comparison between a Chinese watch and a Swiss watch. Again, thank you so much
Fun and honest video, love to have the channel back!
My wife got me this Pagani fir Father's day. Love it will definitely check out more of their "designs" .
what do you prefer, a red ferrari or a red fiat panda?
They look almost identical, both red colour and 4 wheels... from 0 to 100km/h they drive at the same speed
I watched the review on the pagani explorer and pulled the trigger on got it today not a bad deal thks Billy in Richmond Va good old USA
Rumor has it that Pagani have a Death Star homage, coming soon 😉😏
if you buy it now, pagani has updated their explorer to have a bigger handset and a needle GMT hand. now it looks more like an explorer
Rolex Explorer 2 vs Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Gmt. Pls, compare these two great watches soon. Thank you 💓
Arrived today, just brilliant, screw down crown and no misalignment of the date magnifier. Great value for money. Thanks.
This should be good. I've been looking at the Pagani
Currently going for 80 quid (inc VAT) and free shipping from AE "7 day delivery".
Very tempting but I've already recently bought three watches in the last couple of weeks.
Bought the white and black one. They are both amazing! Thanks for your vids, your recommendations are ALWAYS Spot On!!
Just bought this and for what I need it to do, a casual sports watch, it ticks all the right boxes. If only they came out with a 40mm version this would be the perfect everyday beater watch. Just cant see myself wearing a real rolex for the same duty due to the value of said watch.
Hi Mr. Jody. Do you think you could do a similar comparison with the Pagani DateJust and the Rolex Datejust. Thank you
Yes I can!
I'd love to see that!
My brother, you don't miss one single detail!!!!....I definitely like....You my 'goto guy' when it comes to purchasing watches....
Hi,
I appreciate your efforts.
When sizing a bracelet,do I need to remove links from both sides???
Best,
Tom.
Hey Tom, no mate, only one side!
This is gonna be good!!!
No mate, smooth, so you can set the weird 30 minute zones, but as you say not as easy to get it 100%.
Thanks for the review.
I got one. How do you feel about the nato strap with this one?
I need a rolex loving friend to lend me watches too !
While it may be our decision, we all know what Jody will think of us if we opt for the “big box”.
Enjoyable review. Thanks!
Simple solution for pagani on the movement, put a Rolex movement in the pagani and I think you get a fine watch that compares closely to the Rolex
Has anyone noticed that it has the small rubber o ring on the screw down crown. I only seen that in a Rolex. And the screw down crown is nice and thick and smooth Not as smooth as a Rolex but smoother than many brand name watches.
What's that other watch winder in the background,, is it a Dukwin or something? ,, any review on it?
Does it have screw links?
If the Rolex costs 100 times more than the Pagani Design watch, then you could buy 100 of the Pagani Design homage. It's a very nice looking watch. The value and quality for the price is astonishing. Thank You for the review. 6/22/22.
Dear Jodi (sp?): Great video. The v2 came out recently. Fixed hands! Fixed orange hand. Nice bracelet.....amazing upgrade. The movement reportedly is stable...who knows.... but a re-review of the new one may be good for people. I am much happier with the new version.
I find that if I set the GMT hand then slightly turn the crown away from me, I can avoid the 1 minute jump forward.
I’ve bought a couple of Pagani’s now, the panda Daytona and the PD2768 and both have impressed for the money. Might have a go at this one too. 👍
You nailed it in that review. I've got that Pagani GMT and I'm well impressed with the build. The weak spot is the clasp and yes that movement is the gamble however its the best Pagani yet imo
Just ordered the V2. I love the explorer, and I’m glad I can own a homage within my budget!
They are impressive for the price , but please look at the bracelet as mine was loose to coming out of a lug & the clasp will destroy any nails.
@@jaysterling26 I got a strap instead of a bracelet and so far all is good. I might get the Pagani Aquaracer next.
