SL came out and we only got 15-75 anima per activity. You go to turn it in and notice the anima reservoir was 30,000 (later increased to 200,000). When you placed the anima in the reservoir and saw the tiny, tiny, tiny sliver of at the bottom of the basin... Well, it felt like getting told to fill up a gallon and you could only do it by spitting.
Dude you were not expected to fulfill all cosmetics of the game within the first weeks...you know? And with 9.1 and table, yon had basically infinite anima. It never was a resource you needed , and unlike the shit from dragon flight, with anima u could get basic gear to get up to normal raiding tier for nathria, doing all activities, while dragon flight required u to farm storm thing from weekly events and hope after 2 months you may be able to get what gear...or just do LFR since 2 months in all wings were available and the catch up heat became worthless and harder to get than heroic
One of the worst thing of it all was the huge amount of currencies. All of these huge grind also had a lot of diffenrent curencies that filled out your bag and banks to oblivion. Prime example is the mount synthesis, I still have so much stuff about it lying in my bank. Also don't get me how anima and that korthia coddex filled you bags so quick for no reasons
I will still die on the hill that I think torghast was one of the most fun things they’ve added to WoW, just making it mandatory and for only player power killed it. If torghast released with only mage tower like rewards, I think it would be looked at in very high regard.
No. Many classes had a shit of a time in shitghast. You probably had one of the classes that had an easy time or something. Besides that is super repetitive. Please don't compare it to the mage tower. Mage Tower was great. Hard, but once you finished, you finished. Torghast was so repetitive. and unbalanced it shouldnt had even been released.
Yeah, I absolutely loved torghast and I leveled every class to 60 during SL and took them all through it. It’s easily some of the best single player content in the entire game. Going through with a group was fun enough but the real enjoyment for me was going through it solo
Part of the problem with most of these grinds was that it was not clear what the path to completing the grind was, and many times I didn't even know that I was expected to be grinding anything.
Yeah looking back Shadowlands was filled with so many nearly impossible grinds, simply getting enough Anima to upgrade your Travel Network once was a total chore. Didn't ever bother to upgrade it a second time, nor any other facility or try to get any of the covenant cosmetics selling for anima after that. There was a reason people called playing WoW "Running around in Bobby Kotick's Maze" at the time.
9.1 was a tough time… first time in 8 years we had to fill up our raid to hit 10 people active :/ If I wouldn’t have been so invested in boosting, I don’t think anything there would’ve kept me active.
@@paxtonjolly7975 i mostly PVP’d in SL after they got rid of anima power and stuff it really wasn’t so bad. what were y’all doing in korthia every day lol like i’m PVE-ing now and i’m still not doing dailies in the emerald dream every day 😂 the gear isn’t good what’s the point
@@thockyslush Anyone playing the game seriously was kinda required to get sockets from korthia, which required playing every day for several hours for like 2 months.
korthia shouldve been top 2 imo. if you wanted to get all cosmetics and socket for all of your gear you had to be there farming every rare for 1 to 2h each day for 2 month straight. even the cosmetic grind there was panful. there was 3 paragon box mounts and there was a special covenant transmog set that you could only get if you were that covenant and the items only dropped by RNG on the daily quests. and the whole grind was tied to player power so its worse than a purely cosmetic grind.
Korthia cant hold a friggin' CANDLE to Zereth Mortis! i got all but like 2 mounts from Korthia and those are the damn Bug for Necro and the Mount held by the Bird Rare, never wanted to drop for me.
@@UltimateGamerCC Only real issue with Zereth Mortis was that if you did ZM stuff every day you still wouldn't have enough genesis motes to get half of all the stuff its used for... for the rest of shadowland's lifetime. They also nerfed the genesis mote grind recently so it takes even longer than it used to
to this day i have no idea how i managed to get every single mount from korthia... then i remember it was during covid and there was nothing better for me to do, so...
At that point you are not playing a game but actually going to work for 2 hours a day on chores you have to do if you want those cosmetics. Sure its optional but blizzard knows peole collect stuff so to make it hard for them and to satisfy monthly active user numbers and participation numbers they lock the crap behind an ever increasing batch of tasks. Want to play wow at a reasonbly high level but not pay the AH prices for things like enchants and consumables when you do not have your own army to get them? Well, then here is your list of things to do and they will only take you a few hours each day to complee. You are ot playing a game you are goign to work on chores so you can die a million times in raids.
Korthia was the final straw for me. I was already so tired and exhausted of grinding dailies that I was excited for new content. As soon as I got there and realised there were even more dailies I quit. Haven't been back since, maybe one day but I just lost all enthusiasm with that patch.
Surprisingly Shadowlands broke me just before the patch. The Maw, the daylies, PvP-power being tied to ranking creating an unbalanced mess. I've never returned to retail ever since and been playing FFXIV. I did play it before, but Shadowlands really pushed Final forward as my main MMORPG. I do play a bit of Season of Discovery. But, I'll probably never return to retail ever again.
@@CecilyThanador yeah I feel you, it’s not surprising tbh. Even farming mandatory Benthic gear in 8.2 made me depressed and caused our healer core to rage. Ion WoW was nothing but farming competitive players for their engagement metrics.
Dont worry. New xpac coming with more dalies to grind. Are you not happy? I am not playing the new xpac and ive played every single one and have completd every single quest in the game. I have loremaster of all expacs but blizzard now can shove this game where the sun dont shine. I am not buying their "we respect" the players time now. Screw them. After 20 years now all of a sudden they respect the playerss time? No way. They sub numbers are dropping through the floor and even their whales are not spending moeny. So now they attempt to bring back the "old guard" from WOTLK days with their nerubian themed zone. Too late. Those who played WOTLK are now adults and will not devote the kind of time blizzard demands of them. They shot themselves int eh foot over the years making inxcreasing demands on the players when it comes to time.
@@suminshizzles6951 I played WoW again for a bit earlier in the year and it was so boring. I started playing FFXIV a few years back after I quit WoW and I enjoy it a lot more. There are dailies in FFXIV but they are totally optional most of the time and no where near as grindy.
Regarding the Abomination Stitching, it's insane that it's so grindy, even when you forgot to mention the Unity Armor set that it unlocks. Unity is a construct you get to make AFTER you made every single other one, and is required to have with you when you complete World Quests in Maldraxxus specifically. 1 World quest per week will drop 1 armor piece, but you have no idea which one it is, so you end up grinding WQ's with Unity off cooldown if you want that on top of everythign else related to the Stitching.
As a collector my main issue with SL is the fact you had drops locked being covenants... especially the mounts. As someone that primarily plays with just one character this expansion ssssssucked.
The idea that at least 5 out of the 10 on this list were key features of patches or the entire expansion really says that they didn't put fun gameplay in mind. They gave us stuff to do thinking that we would have fun, but it was just filler / work.
Everything is gated behind gates. The currencies are gated. So their monthly active user numbers look good. The reps are gated so the MAU numbers look good for their shareholders. Craftimg mats are now also time and RNG gated with three levels of quality. They cant be giving crap away so the time lost on makign other sytems less grindy is now gaine dback by makign the player grind out craftimg mats. With three levels of quality in craftimg mats they can thereby ensure that addictional time is spent griding out mats. Playing WoW is slapping yourself in the face and paying for it.
@@suminshizzles6951I say worst, some people like that. This is like your doctor knocking you out and asking you to come in a month to just know what ailments you have.
The worst for me has been anima in general, and the lost souls in maw grind. Upgrading the sanctums for all 4 covenants takes awhile to do on all 4 armor types. Then you need more anima and graceful offering just to buy the mogs, and do that on all 4 armor types...take awhile.
For me it was the crafting grind for the legendaries. I am personally someone who wants to craft stuff for myself and not really wanting to buy items from the auction house... But damn... Crafting bracelets 300 times to rank them up just to swap over to pants next patch because of the legendary broke me.
gotta crawl before you can walk, now we got the better crafting system of Dragonflight, which aside from catchup regarding points is a solid system.@@ic3t3ap3ach
Yea that 100% should be on this list. Legendary was horrible because you knew something would get buffed or nerfed. Making the item you worked on useless. And now have to grind another piece. Holy shit was that mind numbing.
Crafting legendaries is insulting and quite frankly abusive. It is seriously abuse. Makign you grind out that mych mats for the legendary solely to satisfy monthly active user numbers and to impress their shareholders is abuse. I hope the new expac bombs. seriously. I hope it dies within a month or two. Then blizzard can die with their abusive practices. % 0.07 chance mount drops.? Are you freakign seruious? This is wow. Doing the same crap over again for the sake of a subscription fee. Truck them. I am done with the game. Ive got better things to do with my time
I remember only doing low keys in m+ and soloing old raids. I didn't even dare to do ANY of the grinds, mostly due to the lack of time that I had at my disposal
I would put the mogs for tormentors of torghast. There are a couple unique mogs from the tormentors and one in particular, is a dagger off the manifestation of pain that only a rogue in assassin or sub spec can loot
Wanted to go back to shadowlands because free achievements, mounts, pets, especially now that I out level the content. But once I spent a few minutes, I felt so drained and depressed. Shadowlands as a vibe and aesthetic is so, sad and draining, I didn't even want to be there anymore.
I think it’s pretty safe to say SL is the worst wow xpac of all time, atleast WoD and BFA had their redeeming qualities even with their problems, SL is the prime example of an expansion that shits on the player’s time at quite literally every patch.
bfa was quite bad, but visions of nzoth (last patch) removed almost all of the worst grind, let us stack some high stats and was fun over all, cant say that for shadowlands
@@Finnboy-ml5jv it did have the fated season, that seems to be the new standard for the last xpac patch going foward since we’re getting that again in DF
Just by scanning through the chapters, surprised to not see the Zereth Mortis Engineering teleport on here. It only drops from the Zereth Mortis paragon chest, and it is _not 100% guaranteed_ Thus, you have to painfully slowly grind Enlightened rep for a paragon box, like one box every 3-4 weeks at best, just for the small _chance_ at maybe getting the item to drop. And all it does is add Zereth Mortis to the Shadowlands engineering wormhole. It really should've just been available to buy straight up for anima or cyphers at like revered. Another awful grind before 10.2 was the Venthyr Ember Court system. The event was _weekly lockout,_ took a lot of courts to max rep with any specific guest, and there are 16 guests total across 4 different pre-determined slots (each slot has its own set of 4 guests, and those guests can only appear in that slot) Not to mention you had to do a "resupply/repair" quest after each court, requiring random crafting mats and blood gems; as well as having to do all the RSVP quests every court, some of which were very travel intensive and just there to waste time. At some point they started adding holiday events into the court that let you gain like 200% more rep per court, but being holiday events they'd only be available for 1-2 weeks so only 1 or 2 courts, and even that wouldn't be enough to max guests from 0. 10.2 made the Ember Court daily, so it's better for gaining guest rep, but you still have to do the resupply/repair quests and RSVP quests between each.
I've been a fan of Warcraft ever since I played WC 3 on my cousin's computer. After that I followed everything about about WoW, played in Internet cafes until I got my own account right before WoD. Halfway through 9.1, after finishing the raid and Korthia campaign, I just quit. Ended my sub, uninstalled WoW. Wasn't even interested in Zereth Mortis and the lore. Returned during the DF prepatch. Dragonflight isn't perfect, but is a step in the right direction so far. The reveal of the Worldsoul saga shows how Blizzard knows how badly they screwed up and are doing everything to get its players back
I really liked protoform synthesis 🤷♀️ Yes there were lots of mounts and pets and it couldn't be completed immediately, but it was easy to chip away at and wasn't required for story/gear progression so it didn't matter to me that I couldn't finish it in 2 days.
Tbh, BFA was worse in my opinion in terms if grind and broke my enjoyment of the game. Shadowlands was more adding to that pain that lead to me quitting
I think the grinds in BfA and SL was enough to burn people out permanently. If this is what blizzard wants, to turn people away from their games, then they are doing a good job of it.
torghast was fun but depending on your class the difficulty changed a lot. with fury warrior and the passive that gave you phantasma on victory rush it was way to easy. if you got it right at the start you could just buy out the shop at some point. with ret pala or frost dk it was also fun but way more difficult because of the more limited phantasma
Torghast at the start was down right not even playable on some classes. Try doing the weekly maximun run for cinders as a solo mage. You will get your ass handed to you or you could only pull one little tiny little group at once. Rinse and rpeat. Meaning what other classes breeze through and go straight to end boss for sweet loot in 2 min you end up doing 2 hours on.
This was a lot of annoying work for the player but, just imagine the man-hours and work required to build and maintain these systems. No wonder Shadowlands was such a let down.
This just reminded me exactly why I've quit this game. Potentially hundreds of hours wasted on a single reward, that will either be obsolete eventually, or doesn't have any meaning outside of rarity. When other games do this, at least you end up equipping something to improve your gameplay from that point on, permanently
Games other than wow give rewards at the end of bosses. Wow makes you do it over and over and over and over again. They are takign the piss with your time. That blue you did 24 runs to get is now obsolete with the next content patch as any world drop green will be better. WoW is a never ending gear and currency treadmill that immediately invalidates all previous work as soon as the new content patch drops. And those are often so all you are doing in WoW is griding. Grinding gold in the begining since you have no mounts. Then griding "borrowed power" systems. Then griding achieves when you are bored. I am donw tith wow. I cant do it anymore.
The amount of Anima you need to buy all the covenant cosmetics is insane. I started with only 2 characters in season 4 of shadowlands. Nowadays I have 9 characters farming the mission table and occasionally killing the world bosses and I’m still only about 60% done. It’s absurd, but now I’m too deep into it to give up.
@@agronnak it absolutely IS sunk cost phallacy, but I just cannot let go of it now. There are many of those logs that I just straight up want not because I want to complete the list, but because they’re so pretty. The good news I guess is that I’ve completed the worst of it. Most of what is left I can just do it slowly and whenever I feel like it so it’s not as painful.
To imagine that even with all the negative feedback they got during BFA for its chores and grinds they still released this as the follow up expansion just shows how out of touch Activision is with their "fanbases"
the made an excuse in a preach interview that they "cant" change stuff 1 year before release because an addon is planned 2 years beforehand 😂. but the never wanted to fix anything. they killed the game for many people and we still see the outcome from this
I did not know that the veilstrider title was bugged for the first few weeks of dragonflight. I thought I just complained enough my account was flagged that if I kept trying, I'd get the title haha. I got every achievement well before the end of slands, all except the necrolord one, and watching that grind again made me remember...
Great topic, but there are way more typos in this video than normal. Some minor, some pretty bad (like "procprovided" at 12:14). There seems to be a typo in almost every other text box. Really unfortunate.
i think weakly's instead of weeklies was my favourite. the video itself is really good and shows why shadowlands was so bad, but the typos were distracting.
Thsi channel now has over 300.000 subs. 100k subs is the point where people are treatign their channel as a cash cow and income source. That is also when lots of other people start getting involved. That is also the point when organically made videos for the sake of content get turned into pro made for google money clips instead. THey have to be over the 9 min threashold for google money. Lets see how long this clip is....20 minutes. So defoo google money sought with this clip. I dont watch content on YT that has ads. If they embed he ads so i have to skip then i hit th eback button. If channels spend the first minute on an intro for their channel and then spends the next 30 seconds begging for money...i hit the back button and dont come back.
For me, the worst part of the Veilstrider achievement was the Maldraxxus minigame. It's bullshit how they combined timegating with RNG, resulting in some people being unable to get it if they started "too late" even if they had every other part of the achievement.
For different reasons, I started Shadowlands by the 3/4 of the expansion lifespan. Initially I found it very nice, but as time passed, I found it very crap and the systems much, much worse. I would have liked to do the Protosynthesis mounts though. But most of what you shown either I didn't do or just very little.
the cypher console wasn't bad at all. I'd argue it's the ideal grind. Lot's of cool things you unlock in the order you want at a good pace. And completely optional.
Korthia not being number 2 is criminal. It was way worst than the Venari rep grind. Venari offered dailies that would always guarantee some rep to your sockets, additionally with the eye of the jailer, early on you could make a path for your rep farm, aka predictable. Korthia; however, was anything but predictable. The dailies offered to the player had a chance not to offer any rep to the Codex, so there was a chance if you didn't have time to farm rares some days you wouldn't get any rep. Then rare farming in korthia was a mad dash hoping you were near the teleporter or shrouded rares. Then factor in the rares rep was also random as well. RNG belongs in items dropping. Not in how much rep you can get daily. Rep that is also tied to player power.
I also noticed there are many grammar/syntax mistakes in these videos. I don't mind, though. That's hardly the point of this channel, right? These aren't academic.
I'm probably the only person alive that thinks korthia was fun but I had a massive payout for my effort there. after hitting rank 4 you could make unique-equip special items that were preraid bis, I was the first jewelcrafter on the server who could make rings and necks and that was specifically the slot most classes had open and not conflict with leggos so EVERYONE wanted a ring or neck and you just made bank if you had the monopoly on that item. made goldcap from trading rings and necks all day. but for everyone else it was an unfun sh*tshow
Tbh only cryptkeeper, protoform synthesis and korthia covenant sets were rough for me. The rest felt like a progression, which ppl like to rush. I didn't mind any of the rest, had fun doing it. Necrolord gameplay was the only one I haven't done to this day, can't understand that and doesn't feel fun or useful.
Many players had to be PvP boosted or even grind it out themselves in Season 1 to get the good vers gear some classes needed. Plus, it was the only way to buy gear for tokens. Many world first raiders were FORCED to be boosted to 1800rating or higher to be able to upgrade gear to a certain level. Thats why now, pvp gear is much worse in PvE, but in SL the gear was on the same gearscore.
I don't know if this is just me, but the production this time seemed a bit off? There was a LOT of context errors in the information texts like repeatedly writing "Weakly" when talking about weekly quests, loads of spelling errors (Forgoten instead of forgotten, campaing instead of campaign, and a LOT of the info texts were run-on sentences without any proper context and odd phrasing. I always enjoy your videos, and this video was no exception even though it is a trip down a memory lane I'd prefer to keep forgotten.
Shadowlands was not alt friendly, not until Dragonflight was announced pretty much. Currency, a ton of currency, it was brutal. Oh yes, I almost forgot, dying in the Maw you lost stigia currency and good luck getting it back from your corpse if your character fell off the edge in the Maw. You had to time all dungeons on +10 mythic to even upgrade your gear which was introduced a year after Shadowlands was released, playing an arms warrior in Shadowlands was brutal. I burned out because of all the grinds and stopped raiding and m+ in 9.2.
You missed out on the worst grind of them all: the main storyline. Where you have no choice but to go through the entire first half of the expansion traveling around the Afterlives doing crap to get in contact with a bunch of close-minded idiots and one absolute "twist Villain" nobody saw coming... just to be able to unlock World Quests at long last. And god help you if you're not Level 60 when you decide to start this... otherwise your alt would be locked into that without any way of skipping past it once you get to 60.
I enjoyed the announcement at this years Blizzcon and also excited that Microsoft now officially owns wow since October 2023. However I'm concerned that Ion Hazzikostas, who seemed so keen to support all the systems we saw in Shadowlands, is still the Game Director.. I remember how resolutely he tried to tell us the Shadowlands systems were good. I hope he also moves the focus of the game away from grindy systems (which also make the game more intimidating for new players) and focuses instead on immersion, Class Design and making the new solo content (Delves) work.
I personally think that Genesis Mote grinding is the worst grind *in the entire game* (I have 27k achievement points, almost 500 mounts and I didn't played DF yet). Yes, the last two list positions are not easy, but they required just playing the game. A lot, but playing. In a way. If we talk about pure grind, then these are Genesis Mote. Before it was a 15-hour fishing under Hellfire in Draenor, but now the first position has been taken by beating endlessly spawning mobs for 15-20 hours. It is not even close to casually clicking 2 buttons for bobber in literal peace. By the way, did you know that the developers recently nerfed Genesis Mote drop, in november 2023. Have fun guys!
Shadowlands was the first time I really dove into WoW and got a character to max level. I'm sure covid helped since I had more free time, but I really enjoyed the level of dedication you could/had to put in, it gave me something "meaningful" to look forward to all the time.
I didnt find Veilstrider all that hard to do as it did not force me to go that much more out of bound from what I was already doing. Korthia was on the other hand more annoying then the title and to this day I dont have all the cosmetics from kyrian and necrolord mount.
I disagree that renown farming shouldn't even be on this list. I maxxed all 4 covenant just playing the game normally and later on got an achievement for it.
As a pvper and someone who hates pve outside of money grind. especially questing for legendary pieces. the have no idea what the pvpers want and they dont teally care about the lore much. and nothing has been done for pvp
I remember getting the veilstrider achievement, it was a lot of work, and honestly the worst part to me was the maw achievements given all that you had to do. As those rares could be a complete pain to get to at times given some of them required four other people to summon.
yep maw and necro plus venthyr. with then it was rng when which one was up and i had to wait for weeks to complete it before end of expansion. then the missions from the covenant attacks were rng too. wait until that attack and the mission is up. that was truly an awful experience i remember the summon ones. you had to climb that stupid tower 😂
Should of added all the quality of life stuff they had at the end of SL at the start instead of hiding behind the * We want to make picking your covenant feel like an important choice *. Having to farm Torghast to craft new legendry's was a terrible idea
I’m very proud to be the first in the world to get 100% of everything collected that did cost anima. Great times :) I kinda farmed way too much anima. I think I still had almost 1m anima left after I reached 100% collected.
For the veilstrider title if you were playing s4 SL most achievements weren’t hard the ones that are most bs we’re kyrian or however you spell it challenges where you get locked out for awhile cause of the cd/bugged and the necrolord factory one because RNG you needed every daily completed at least once.
This expansion will never be remembered in a good light, the gameplay aspects alone(all these grinds) literally killed the player base. Shadowlands is the prime example of just how much the WoW team hates their community. And nothing truly improve in Dragonflight, they basically took out 95% of the grinds and made rewards lack luster by comparison of Shadowlands, which is baffling to me. WoW could do with putting raiding and seasons on the backseat forever so they can make better content than what this stuff was/is.
I did almost all of this. I think SL was a Farm fest... that being said if you did put in the hours it was one of the most fun Xpacs(imo). That being said I think the amount of required hours to be able to max min in this xpac was not worth it. If you did do it though... man hitting glad on almost all alts was fun.
I loved the competitive aspect of shadowlands but the infinite grind made me quit. M+ was fun, raids were S tier. The covenant idea was cool but the grind .... yeah no
You left out the actual #1 grind where players spent 2 years subsidizing WoW to eventually unlock Dragonflight. Oh and then Blizzard turned around and started charging people $90 to play on launch day.
Top 10 Worst Grinds of Shadowlands: All of them. I didn't enjoy grinding out a single piece of Shadowlands content after the first hour or so of each thing. Such wasted potential in Shadowlands
The fact that there is a top 10 for worst grinds for one expansion says all you need to know about Shadowlands lol
Came here literally to say this. My god we went through crap...
I mean, every expansion has had an awful lot of grinds for similar cosmetic things. Ve'nari was the only bad one.
It’s ok guys these dark day are behind us. Hopefully.
Shadowlands Was the only expansion which made me delete the game, quite telling 😅
What do I need to know?
SL came out and we only got 15-75 anima per activity. You go to turn it in and notice the anima reservoir was 30,000 (later increased to 200,000). When you placed the anima in the reservoir and saw the tiny, tiny, tiny sliver of at the bottom of the basin... Well, it felt like getting told to fill up a gallon and you could only do it by spitting.
*Opens mythic+ chest*
*35 anima* XD
Sounds like a fun game, a bunch of dudes stand around a bucket and try to fill it to the top using only bodily fluids, no piss shit or blood allowed
Also don't get me how anima and that korthia coddex filled you bags so quick for no reasons
i still have those shit currencies in my bank because genesis motes are a fucking grind and boring af to farm
I didn't even get far into Zereth Mortis and my bags were filled up with different parts of the synthesis items. It will rest in my bank forever.
I will still die on the hill that I think torghast was one of the most fun things they’ve added to WoW, just making it mandatory and for only player power killed it. If torghast released with only mage tower like rewards, I think it would be looked at in very high regard.
i agree, if they hadnt made it mandatory, it wouldnt be remembered so poorly.
Honestly Torghast was pretty fun, and since I never try to get all the legendary or whatever it worked for me
That's what the Twisting Corridors where, that they added in a later patch. But yeah, should have had that from the beginning.
9.1 was a tough time… first time in 8 years we had to fill up our raid to hit 10 people active :/ If I wouldn’t have been so invested in boosting, I don’t think anything there would’ve kept me active.
ironically 9.1 wasn't even that bad. started playing SL then and they had removed most of the incredibly dumb grinds by then

korthia shouldve been top 2 imo. if you wanted to get all cosmetics and socket for all of your gear you had to be there farming every rare for 1 to 2h each day for 2 month straight.
even the cosmetic grind there was panful. there was 3 paragon box mounts and there was a special covenant transmog set that you could only get if you were that covenant and the items only dropped by RNG on the daily quests. and the whole grind was tied to player power so its worse than a purely cosmetic grind.
Korthia cant hold a friggin' CANDLE to Zereth Mortis! i got all but like 2 mounts from Korthia and those are the damn Bug for Necro and the Mount held by the Bird Rare, never wanted to drop for me.
@@UltimateGamerCC
Only real issue with Zereth Mortis was that if you did ZM stuff every day you still wouldn't have enough genesis motes to get half of all the stuff its used for... for the rest of shadowland's lifetime.
They also nerfed the genesis mote grind recently so it takes even longer than it used to
to this day i have no idea how i managed to get every single mount from korthia... then i remember it was during covid and there was nothing better for me to do, so...
exactly@@itsdannyhoney
Bro even the dailies themselves. “Go click birds nests for an hour a day so you can have a mythic raid spot” arrrrggghhhhhh
But damn... Crafting bracelets 300 times to rank them up just to swap over to pants next patch because of the legendary broke me.
yeah that was bull-bull.
that was just a gold sink for crafters and buyers. purely a shit system and blizzard should be ashamed
gotta crawl before you can walk, now we got the better crafting system of Dragonflight, which aside from catchup regarding points is a solid system.@@ic3t3ap3ach
Blizz: *releases the worst expansion*
Also Blizz: Hey you gotta play it a LOT.
@@ian77444Well of course you can’t, shadowlands didn’t even have a third patch.
@@Finnboy-ml5jv it did have the fated season, that seems to be the new standard for the last xpac patch going foward since we’re getting that again in DF
Just by scanning through the chapters, surprised to not see the Zereth Mortis Engineering teleport on here.
It only drops from the Zereth Mortis paragon chest, and it is _not 100% guaranteed_
Thus, you have to painfully slowly grind Enlightened rep for a paragon box, like one box every 3-4 weeks at best, just for the small _chance_ at maybe getting the item to drop.
And all it does is add Zereth Mortis to the Shadowlands engineering wormhole. It really should've just been available to buy straight up for anima or cyphers at like revered.
Another awful grind before 10.2 was the Venthyr Ember Court system. The event was _weekly lockout,_ took a lot of courts to max rep with any specific guest, and there are 16 guests total across 4 different pre-determined slots (each slot has its own set of 4 guests, and those guests can only appear in that slot)
Not to mention you had to do a "resupply/repair" quest after each court, requiring random crafting mats and blood gems; as well as having to do all the RSVP quests every court, some of which were very travel intensive and just there to waste time.
The game is full of huge grinds like that. That is wow. %0.07 mount drops. Yeah right. Like i am gonna do theater of pain 364 times. Screw that.
Merry Christmas brotherman, hope you have a good evening
The worst grind in shadowlands, is shadowlands.
Nothimg was as bad as trying to find the Big Shiny with Chordy. Worst thing put into the game ever.
torghast was fun but depending on your class the difficulty changed a lot. with fury warrior and the passive that gave you phantasma on victory rush it was way to easy. if you got it right at the start you could just buy out the shop at some point. with ret pala or frost dk it was also fun but way more difficult because of the more limited phantasma
i did the ignore pain anima power you just dps like you would and spam ignore pain on cooldown impossible to die
I only did torghast as a tank if I was paid gold to run it
Plays rogue
Anima power require you to uses Vanish
You're soloing
bruh.mp3
Torghast at the start was down right not even playable on some classes. Try doing the weekly maximun run for cinders as a solo mage. You will get your ass handed to you or you could only pull one little tiny little group at once. Rinse and rpeat. Meaning what other classes breeze through and go straight to end boss for sweet loot in 2 min you end up doing 2 hours on.
This was a lot of annoying work for the player but, just imagine the man-hours and work required to build and maintain these systems. No wonder Shadowlands was such a let down.
The secret maw mount was another pain in the ass to get. Time waste at its finest.
Sunk cost phallacy. You can just quit.
I have a tendency to positively reflect on bad expansions when we're past them but man i still hate SL lmao
To imagine that even with all the negative feedback they got during BFA for its chores and grinds they still released this as the follow up expansion just shows how out of touch Activision is with their "fanbases"
the made an excuse in a preach interview that they "cant" change stuff 1 year before release because an addon is planned 2 years beforehand 😂. but the never wanted to fix anything. they killed the game for many people and we still see the outcome from this
A top worst grinds, 10 in number, from a single expansion. That says a lot.
There are so many spelling mistakes or typos in this - is there no one who can do a QC pass before the videos are released? "These weakly's"?!
I also noticed there are many grammar/syntax mistakes in these videos. I don't mind, though. That's hardly the point of this channel, right? These aren't academic.
@@MyUsualCommentit makes the product look bad. Quality control is just as important as topic research, and it's really not difficult to do.
great video! Quick question, what addon do you use to get the zoom in view of your char when you talk to an npc?
Maybe the real grinds was the friends we made along the way?
if anything then its the friends you LOST along the way many of mine said "Fuck you Blizzard!", quit and never came back
The horrible mandatory campaign quests you had to do for each faction to play for them, was the worst for me.
No Party Herald achievement? That deserves its own video. I totally didn't let Sire Denathrius out of Remornia for a tea party...
Blizzard really had no idea what they were doing in Shadowlands.
When I go back to SL these days to go and farm something I think to myself ... Was Shadowlands really that bad 🤔
Yes, yes it was .....
Man, honorable mention- the avowed faction grind, that was fucking gross.
Korthia made me quit the game lmao
I enjoyed the announcement at this years Blizzcon and also excited that Microsoft now officially owns wow since October 2023. However I'm concerned that Ion Hazzikostas, who seemed so keen to support all the systems we saw in Shadowlands, is still the Game Director.. I remember how resolutely he tried to tell us the Shadowlands systems were good. I hope he also moves the focus of the game away from grindy systems (which also make the game more intimidating for new players) and focuses instead on immersion, Class Design and making the new solo content (Delves) work.
I played the entirety of Shadowlands and never hit exalted with anyone. For reference, I have the 100 exalted reputations achievement on my account.
Have fun guys!
all I needed to do for veilstrider at the end of shadowlands was twisting corridors in the torghast but I just refused to do it and now I regret it :(
how did you get that shadow form appearance? I much prefer it to the purple all over
Shadowlands transmogs were crazy though, still considering going back to get all the venthyr sets
Shadowlands was the first time I really dove into WoW and got a character to max level. I'm sure covid helped since I had more free time, but I really enjoyed the level of dedication you could/had to put in, it gave me something "meaningful" to look forward to all the time.
exactly my experience man! COVID made me play for like 10-15 hours a day, hahah
This perfectly illustrates is why i dropped Shadowlands before Korthia came out and didnt come back until DF
I got the Veilstrider title. Wont ever use another one.
I remember farming Great Luckydo very badly, it was nightmare for me
I need drugs to play this game
same
I didnt find Veilstrider all that hard to do as it did not force me to go that much more out of bound from what I was already doing. Korthia was on the other hand more annoying then the title and to this day I dont have all the cosmetics from kyrian and necrolord mount.
I disagree that renown farming shouldn't even be on this list. I maxxed all 4 covenant just playing the game normally and later on got an achievement for it.
you forgot to mention the plate helm drop from denarius raid the grind for lfr version still continues today for me at least.
Merry Christmas hiru!
worst grind was waiting for the expansion to be over
As a pvper and someone who hates pve outside of money grind. especially questing for legendary pieces. the have no idea what the pvpers want and they dont teally care about the lore much. and nothing has been done for pvp
I remember getting the veilstrider achievement, it was a lot of work, and honestly the worst part to me was the maw achievements given all that you had to do. As those rares could be a complete pain to get to at times given some of them required four other people to summon.
yep maw and necro plus venthyr. with then it was rng when which one was up and i had to wait for weeks to complete it before end of expansion. then the missions from the covenant attacks were rng too. wait until that attack and the mission is up. that was truly an awful experience
i remember the summon ones. you had to climb that stupid tower 😂
Should of added all the quality of life stuff they had at the end of SL at the start instead of hiding behind the * We want to make picking your covenant feel like an important choice *. Having to farm Torghast to craft new legendry's was a terrible idea
Proud to have the Veilstrider title...
I’m very proud to be the first in the world to get 100% of everything collected that did cost anima. Great times :) I kinda farmed way too much anima. I think I still had almost 1m anima left after I reached 100% collected.
Are you ok?
I actually liked the Protoform system, as a collector it was nice to be just sort of passively get shit that let me make mounts.
For the veilstrider title if you were playing s4 SL most achievements weren’t hard the ones that are most bs we’re kyrian or however you spell it challenges where you get locked out for awhile cause of the cd/bugged and the necrolord factory one because RNG you needed every daily completed at least once.
jesus christ that inventory is giving me anxiety
What about the grind of waiting for the new major updates to come out?
This expansion will never be remembered in a good light, the gameplay aspects alone(all these grinds) literally killed the player base. Shadowlands is the prime example of just how much the WoW team hates their community. And nothing truly improve in Dragonflight, they basically took out 95% of the grinds and made rewards lack luster by comparison of Shadowlands, which is baffling to me. WoW could do with putting raiding and seasons on the backseat forever so they can make better content than what this stuff was/is.
Does this video hold the recoerd for MOST TYPOS?
Now you only have to hit Renown 80 with -one- covenant on a single character to get free switching. It's much better this way.
I didn't read "Of Shadowlands" in the title, and only thought this was Top 10 Worst Grinds and I was thinking.. "Man this expac had some bad grinds.."
funny how it was an absolute pain to play at first and the last patch was an absolute blast
The top 10 is basically how the whole expansion felt like i.m.o. A long and tedious grind.
*weekly not weakly ; noticed the first time at 15:30 dunno if there are more of the same typo
Time stamp 11:44 says wold instead of would 😂 😂.
He must have been in hurry editing the video
Thorgast was not weekly locked. Its leggy crafting mat rewards where weekly locked. I know because I was boosting runs for months and millions.
I loved the competitive aspect of shadowlands but the infinite grind made me quit. M+ was fun, raids were S tier.
The covenant idea was cool but the grind .... yeah no
At the beggining I heard "Crimes" instead of "Grinds". I think it fits either way.
Playing Shadowlands was the biggest grind.
You left out the actual #1 grind where players spent 2 years subsidizing WoW to eventually unlock Dragonflight. Oh and then Blizzard turned around and started charging people $90 to play on launch day.
Hiru, why dont you stream on youtube anymore??? :(
The only annoying thing about farming is number 10, number 2 and number 1. The rest is pure whining that the community had at the time.
If any other company would fuck over its customers like Blizzards does, even just 5% of it, the company would be bankrupt.
I’m so glad I skipped shadowlands because I truly hated it after the first quest line and this solidifies my feeling that I did the right choice
Top 10 Worst Grinds of Shadowlands: All of them. I didn't enjoy grinding out a single piece of Shadowlands content after the first hour or so of each thing. Such wasted potential in Shadowlands
Shadowlands was complete garbage. Way too many unnecessary grinds, items, gate kept items, etc. etc. Doggers.
