Beautiful song even
Me
Me, Michael from Alsdorf Germany, 63 Years old.
I am Old Trafford Manchester
I am.
My dad died in 1975 I was 6 years old and this song got me through the worst of my grief. I just always said it was sung to me by my dad. It still brings me comfort all the years later. AND MY NAME IS MICHELLE.
Hi Michelle 😢a very touching story Dear. I was 14 years old when this song came out. I’ve always loved it and it’s a sad song indeed. From now on when ever I hear this song I’ll think of you Honey.😢🙏
What a heavenly connection! ❤
Hi Michelle..
I’m Michele, also. But I was BORN in May of 1974, while this song was still in the charts. My name was supposed to be Sharon Anne, but my aunt and uncle had a baby girl three weeks before I was born and they called her Sharon. Another uncle suggested the name Michele. I’ve always wondered if it was because he liked this song.
This was the first record I bought as a child
I remember this song the day it hit the radio stations. Today at 66 years old it still brings tears to my eyes thinking of all the family and friends I've lost these past 50 years or so. What a great song with a profound message.
Loved it when I heard it for the first time in 1976 at age 15, still love it today at age 62!!! ❤ May 3, 2023.😊
I feel the same way. I am 62 and loved it even then.
Dave
Me tooooooo 😊
i’m also the same age. love this song. From Atlanta with Peace ✌🏿
Same here!
Same age here, and I feel exactly the same.
Who's listening in 2020 Terry still got it ✌ & ❤
he does! now in his middle 70s
This hits hard for anyone of age, like me at 62....you start to realize that this world will continue to spin regardless if you're on it. Oh well...such is life!
Love from Vietnam
I’m not sure when this was recorded, but he had two strokes in 2016. vancouversun.com/news/local-news/susan-and-terry-jacks-fight-serious-health-issues-in-hospital

One of the best songs of the 70’s!!
70's had the best songs. Terry still sounds great.
It's actually a song from 1961, written by Jacques Brel.
He. Has the. Voice like when he was young.. marvelous
Hello Carmen, how are you doing?
This song was played at my uncles funeral back in 1998 he was only 33 hope he watching over is family r I p our Wayne listening uk 🇬🇧 England here 2024
Nice memories going back in time when music was good.
Me and my best friend met in 1973. We were 12. We are still best friends. We are 62. Friends for 50 years so far. We remember this song. TX.
His voice was amazing even after 53 years.
And Still look Good with Lots of Hair😍🥰👍👍
he sounds just the same when he was young. what a legend
Has he passed away ?
It almost looks as if this was being lip synched.
Be a good song for Fil over at Wings of Pegasus to analyze.
@@paulgregory4102 No.
He doesn’t sound anything like he did in the original recording. Your memory is wrong.
@@johnboy32064 Yeah if he actually sang here his voice sounds pretty close to when he was young but live performances never sound like the original recordings. I always want the performances to sound like the original recordings.
Happy 50th anniversary to this song, it was released this time in 1974! It’s early January 2024 as I post my comment. Although this song did not make the top ten songs of 1974, in my opinion it should have; it was that big a hit. May it live on for another 50 years!!
The last farewell to say ! The memories still remain . I love this song way back then . Now I'm 66 years old .
Man this song still makes me cry. Life is so short, dont waste time fighting and arguing. We get one crack in life to be happy and loving to others.
PERFECTLY PUT!!❤❤
I SIT HERE WITH TEARS RUNNING DOWN MY FACE!😪 REMINDS ME OF ONE OF MY OLDER SISTERS, I MISS HER AND THE "GOOD OLD DAYS' WHEN MUSIC HAD MEANINGFUL LYRICS!!

Wow he he hasn’t changed at all !!
This was 2 of my favorite songs as teen in 1974 - I lost a friend to cancer today at just 52 and this ring made me think of him - he was an entertainer as well 😢
Hello Lori, how are you doing?
This was played at my Dads funeral in December 2017, he was 51 years old💔
Mine too, January 31st 2018,aged 57,was named after this song cx
I'm so sorry for each of your losses. I'm 53 and it's shocking to hear that your dad's have passed away so young. My dad passed away on October 30,less than 3months ago. I wish you both all the best,I'm so sorry.
God bless you all for your losses. I too, have loss. This song is beautiful in its poinancy, but still delivers the darts to the heart. After loss the memories, whether happy or sad, always leave a bit of pain. Still, the love we feel never dies.
I'm so sorry for your lost😟
I did the same at my dads funeral in January 2011, he passed away at 80 years old and every time I hear this song.
I get tears in my eyes.
I buried my best friend of 50 years. In 2011. This song reminds me of him everytime i hear it . RIP tom rigney
My parents loved this song, and I can't hear it without crying. ❤
It's incredible that he still sounds the same as he did back in the 70's. This was a one hit wonder but it is timeless!
Indeed my friend it was at one point my favorite song back then, now i heard that originally it was going to be called something like "a dying man" but the producers thought it to depressing. But don't know for sure, never looked it up
He doesn't really sound the same but he hasn't lost his ability to put the feeling into this song. Good job, Terry.
@@keithkristi1 The other song you mentioned isn't known in the USA. All everyone knows by Terry Jacks is "Seasons In The Sun"!
@@keithkristi1 But that other song you mentioned was never known here in the US. He will always be remembered only for Seasons In The Sun".
@@keithkristi1 Damned straight he did.
He still has an awesome voice. For many years was my favorite song.
I did not expect his current singing to sound anything like the original. I was VERY wrong! He captured every feeling from the original and didn't miss a beat. Bravo Terry
One of the very few artists of the '60's-'70's who still sounds the same has full head of hair and same weight. He must have a healthy lifestyle. Good on ya Terry!
Tarn Sand I was thinking the same thing
Yes he and Henry Gross who still tours.sings Shannon, also a very emotional beautiful song.
He sounds the same? You've GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! He can barely "squeek" it out. Love the song, but he CANNOT sing it anymore.
He's a remarkabe singer normally singers from that era if they were to sing now it wouldbe a struggle but not Terry jacks the man has not missed a step if you agree give me a hoot and y'all have a great evening
@@xxxDreamWeaver1958 - ???
My brother died when he was 40. I will always remember this song because he sang it when he was 17 and me 14. He was my hero. I am an academic and he a plumber. I often said to him that I would changed with him if I could. He was such a lovely person but the wine and the song took him to early. I miss him so much.
Same with my brothers.
Terry and the back up singers sound like the entrance way to heaven
My little sister was hit by a car and died in 1978 when I was 8 yrs old.. I remember playing at a friends house and they had the 45 of this song and played it.. This was the first song that ever made me cry.. Love everyone you can, while you still can guys
He looks and sounds great for someone lamenting for 50 years about how hard it is to die. Glad he's still with us!
One of the best songs on death and life.

just lost my mom .......rip betty boo...
Just lost mine in August...sad times...bless you..

Beautiful job and such a great song
Hello Linda, how are you doing?
What great memories from almost 50 years ago. A great time to be 16.
Timeless classic.
A great song by Terry Jacks. I remember when this song first came out around 1974. It is still a classic in 2021. Many thanks Terry. 👍👍👍
My sister passed 2 yrs ago, She wanted this song played at her funeral. So we had it played and we was so heart broken. It brought so many years of our childhood growing up. The song just fit all of us. Thank you Terry!

Amazing. Half that crowd wasn’t alive in 74 when his version of this song hit the airwaves. 😂😂
The memory of a certain image is nothing but the longing for a certain moment
His voice didn't age AT ALL! Never has time been so kind to a voice!
KRYPTONITE SPIDER-BITE DYNAMITE and his hair still much
"Never has time been so kind to a voice." LOVELY COMMENT.
Are you guys all trying to be nice or blanketing a nice youth memory? His voice has so clearly aged!
Everyone's saying how well he kept his voice, my God, LOOK AT THAT HAIR, life isn't fair
Terry Jacks relocated to Vancouver. 🇨🇦
I remember this song when I was a boy visiting Vancouver. Great 👍
RIP Susan Jacks, recorded on 27 April 2022
I love this song but makes me cry😢 because bring me memories of a dear friend that died at a very young age... 🎵we have fun, we have joy, we have seasons in the sun🎵...and yes we had so much fun!. And our generation still enjoying this wonderful song..thanks Mr. Jacks!🤗
My God he's still the same! His voice sounds exactly like it did in 19 fucking 74!
Ha Yes that is what I just said...wow...he still sounds young...
I wouldn't go THAT far. Haha! As you get older, the notes aren't as easy to hit. I'm older, so I know. This is still my favorite song of all time!
Not really.
Trap Tiger No, he doesn't. He's now much more nasal, his higher notes more forced. It's a world of difference between then and now.
Armpit Studios Sorry but I have to agree with Tiger Trap . He sounds just like he did back in '74. And if I may say so, I can feel the pain in his voice even more now than back in '74.
P.S. And yes the French are clueless- singing and dancing to a song about a dying man.
Thanks for memories, back in 1974. I was a 18 year old United States Marine, stationed at Camp LeJeune,North Carolina, USA, Semper Fidelis
I also served in the JNA army in 1974, I was on guard duty and this song was heard through the window, it was my favorite song at that time.
@BorisGoljevscek so it looks like we were in the Military about the same it. I actually served from 5 Oct 73 to 4 Dec 77. I love music from the late 60s and 70s. Stay safe over there.
Semper Fidelis Marine Camp Lejeune 1972-
@JJM-qf8dz I was assigned to H&S Bn, 2nd Force Service Regiment, January 1974 through July 1974, and returned September 1975 thru October 1977, renamed 2nd Force Service Support Group. Today 2nd Marine Logistical Group.
I used to hear this on the school bus every day in 3rd grade, just as we were leaving the school grounds.
It is amazing how well he has kept his voice.
DoggoIsLife it hasn’t changed even after 40 years and he wasn’t off key either
Yes he still has it his voice hasn't change.

I think i was about 10 years old when this song came out. enjoyed it then and i still enjoy it now. for some reason it resonated with me. it seemed like the audience had blank stares, while listening to the song. i don't know if it was something that they couldn't relate to or if it was a language barrier and just couldn't understand the words.
Zombies.
Terry Jacks that takes me back! Sad song but beautiful at the same time .
Magnifique chanson je l avais complétement oublié merci beaucoup pour le partage cela me rappelle de très bon souvenirs sortie en 1974 je crois année de mes 21ans ouah le temps passe trop vite 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
I lost my father in Dec '73, this song is embedded in me and has been since I first heard it, both are intrinsically linked.
Classic, I remember waking up every morning in 1974 to this song on the radio. Terry Jacks has the same effect as he did then, nothing was ever lost. Truly hauntingly beautiful.
I didn't truly understand the depth of the lyrics when I was 11 yrs old, but this and Paul McCartney's "My Love" played every day and though I was only a child I fondly remember humming or singing these songs when I was feeling good on my way to play with my friends.
Been on my playlist for decades
I was really surprised to see this live version of Terry Jacks doing this song, and what a great job, that even after all these years he can still put so much emotion into the song.

True... Life is for living. Don't waste time fighting. This song came at the right time where we were facing the generation gap. We rebelled against our parent for no good reason.😢
Hello Nicky, how are you doing?
Terry Jacks covered this song the second time. Usually the first cover is the best, his version went #1 and gold. The first cover is unheard of. He blew this out the park, makes me cry every time.
Last week, Skippy, my constant companion for the past 18 years, crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
I found this video fitting, and it comforts me to imagine sharing it with him.

This is one of my favorite songs!!!!
One of my all time favourite songs and singers. What a great performance this is. Damn but this takes me back to being 16 going on 17 again.
This was the first 45 record I ever bought when I was a kid. Some neighborhood kids and I got together and formed a singing group. I remember singing this, and "Delta Dawn" to our parents at our 1 and only concert. lol
Kinda creepy songs to be singing as children now that I think about it. Our parents were probably wondering if they should take us to counseling.
It is truly a lovely song though.
After this song came out this song was played at many funerals over the years.
I remember this song too, especially singing it in summertimes. Loved it and still do.
