Welcome to the Wind River Range where it's uphill in both directions. One day in alpine was probably not enough training for this kind of route. But it served you well and should definitely help if you try it again.
That route is the toughest thing I ever did. Not many bail out routes. Super dependent on weather (including wind and heat/post holes). Everything has to go just right. But even getting a few days on route is a worth it. Plus, bonus adventure hitchhiking!! Thanks for sharing the video (creation of which is an effort I could not comprehend adding to such a challenging route).
@@ChadLubinski I squeaked through with everything "going just right." Popped my pad on the first night. Had a few scares and scrapes in the west gully. Broke a pole on Blaurock. Went from Gannett glacier, over Downs to the Glacier trail in one push to beat a storm. As a solo hiker I was in my head all day. And every day around midday there was a low point where I thought, NO WAY I will make my planned camp. But somehow I did by dark. Lost ~10lbs and gained some gray hairs. But the mountains let me pass. So just right😆 6 long days hiking, 6 nights. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Thanks again for taking me back!!
I have done part of that high route and numerous other hikes in the winds. My favorite hiking area in the US. This high route is brutal desolate and weather is crazy.. great job
Looks fun builds character dig deep. The best part “after two hitches the rental car battery was deal because I left the lights on” lol 😂 hang in there brother it doesn’t get better every trip for me the same but 40 years later still torturing myself?
@@ChadLubinski lmao maybe a lil more background, iv hiked volcanoes in SA and do the occassional tricky hike ascent on my climbing trips, avid gym goer and runner so cardios pretty good, however I do live in florida so elevation is 0 but i pretty much live in colorado during snowboard season and have never had altitude issues. Couple of buddies and i are looking into getting into backpacking and honestly nothing we’ve searched for beats the views or isolation of this route so we were curious 😂 but if you’re telling me no then ill listen to you and look for something in rado
And neither did I, btw. We started at the other end at Green Lake and made it to Titcomb lakes before we had to bail out past Island Lake and Seneca Lake to the White Pine trail head, because my friends teenage daughter had a stomach bug. The hike out was about half as far as finishing the route! Between the mosquitos and sleet/hail storms and constantly shifting boulders underneath it was ridiculously challenging. And ever since, every time I think of it, I want to go back and finish the High Route. How about you, Chad? Any thoughts of taking it on again, knowing what you know now?
@@azogj Dang man! Yeah I do.. I want to do Alan's version first, then go back and do this one. As you know...it's super frickin challenging to say the least!
Feel that your videos don’t get near the love they deserve. Never been on a true backpacking adventure but love watching yours. Keep up the good work
Zach! Thanks so much for that comment and watching. Would love to give you advice on getting a trip together if you were ever interested!

@@climbslc2281 you went solo too?? Epic! Great work. And… I know that mid-day solo feeling all too well lol. Way to get it done
I literally can't imagine doing this route alone. R - E - S - P - E - C - T !!!
Great work! If you haven’t yet done it, consider the Ptarmigan Traverse in the Cascades. I think you’d love it.

Definitely had my fair share of high plateaus like this. Super windy and super beautiful.
right on!!
Are these mountains give u a different feel ?
what do you mean?
@Chad Lubinski Aliens came to these mountains , these mountains are where Jesus was transfiguration.
@@PeteFish-b1f i dont think they are
