Bought one a few weeks ago for my X-T5. I took it up to London's West End last weekend to try it out, and was blown away by the results! I was particularly pleased with the sharpness of many of the shots I took after dark. Very pleased with my purchase, especially at the price.
Just picked up this lens for my X-E1. The idea being to have a good, light travel setup. I am absolutely blown away with the images this lens produces when paired with the xtrans-i sensor, especially for the price. Since the X-E1 isn't WR, it's not a big deal that the lens isn't, since I won't have either out in bad weather. As for the lack of an aperture ring, not a problem either, as I prefer using the body dials and I always set these on my other camera bodies anyway, as I find it much easier to use a finger or thumb rather than having to reach around to the lens to change the aperture. As for the plastic body, it feels as well built as plastic bodies on third party lenses like Tamron. A metal lens mount would have been nice, though. Overall, for me, this lens is perfect for my intended use case. Thanks for a great review - it helped me choose this lens over a lot of others I was considering.
Hey, Dylan. I just discovered your channel and I have to say that I really like it and the way you present your content. Very professional, very interesting, all business and no unnecessary bs. Thank you. I also like the way you show the picture examples with enough time to absorb all the “Exif” data and the image itself. Keep up with a great job! Definitely subscribing.
As Cheap, mightier, and more versatile candidate is the vastly underrated Fujinon XC OIS 15-45 mini zoom….. give it a shot if you think that it’s not. P.S. - I also own and shoot with higher end Fujinons ~
Great review 🥺 But can you help me to choose between XC 15-45mm and XC 35mmf2 ? Which one is better for newbie ? I just want to take random moments, mostly traveling shots and sometimes streets. The body is XT20
Love your channel Dylan! I'm an aspiring street photography by night MD/Phd radiologist by day and I'm wondering what type photometry,AF & focus settings you'd recommend for my xt5? I love high contrast images with distinct deep shadows against the highlights, tac sharp images with clarity and Leica like feel/colors for a dramatic look! I also own a Fuji 33mm F1.4 WR ❤
I rely on the EVF for exposure, so the photometry doesn't bother me at all. I leave it on the setting it comes out of the factory with. As for AF, you'll find me mentioning this quite a bit (check my family photography video for details), but I'm mostly a single point AF-S kinda guy. Very simple. I wouldn't have a clue about getting "Leica feel or colours" as I don't really do much post production. You'd be better off looking to a post-production channel for help there. Thanks!
@@DylanGoldbyPhotographer thx Dylan and I really love your photos of tattoos! So screw Leica colors Im looking for the Dylan Gold by look so do you have a video about how you edit/postprocessing that I might have missed? Do you have a webpage and if so any workshops? Thanks again and keep up the good work, inspiring stuff! 🔥🙌
I've just bought this lens. One thing I'm a bit disappointed in is fringing in the corners when the lens is wide open. This is particularly noticeable in winter shots with tree branches against a white sky. It does go away when you stop the lens down a bit and otherwise the lens is great. I was just wondering if other users had this experience or maybe I got a faulty lens? I am in general very happy with the lens but find it slightly annoying as this is my first Fujifilm prime and I wasn't expecting it.
There's definitely a little fringing in the corners on my copy, as well. It's to be expected with a tiny little formula like this and, as you said, stopping down even a little helps greatly. The XF 33mm f/1.4 is much better in this regard, but it's also 5 times the price.
@@DylanGoldbyPhotographer Thank you for replying. It's not a big problem really. I was just wondering if it was a problem with my copy of the lens only. The bare branches with white sky is the only time I've noticed it. I think I will hold onto my copy

That's not really a question anyone can answer but you. Do you want the flexibility of a zoom or the fast aperture of the prime? You can really ony determine that by understanding HOW you want to photograph things.

Is the xc35 f2 better than the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the viltrox 33mm f1.4
My probably best fashion shoot going out of XC 35mm f/2. Love it
It's one of those lenses that encourages you not to care too much about the technicals, right?
i had this lens and really liked it, got some great images with it, for €200 you can't really go wrong with it.
That's just it. It's hard NOT to recommend at this price.

Welcome aboard! I do my best to not fill these videos with fluff. I'd rather not waste your time!
i loved your video
Love my XF35 f2. Thanks for review

Glad to hear it!
The best lens ever ! Small , Compact, snappy!
It's a fun one, to be sure.

Mine makes many noises. eg when watching the pictures and switching again to shoot... and when focusing its very loud
Sounds like it needs a trip to Fujifilm! It shouldn't make much noise at all.
Great cheap lens, I wouldn't mind having it instead of WR version.
That's my thoughts, as well. For something to just use in fine weather, it's a perfect little companion.
Thanks

how is this compared to 23 f.2?
I really couldn't tell you. I haven't used that 23mm in years.
