It will record the route even if the motor is stowed, charging the batteries with the trolling motor connected is bad? Mine is hardwired, I do have a breaker I could use as a disconnect while charging, but it is not in an easy place to access.
How did you do the route? I never went to the menus while the motor was stowed. It just says motor stowed never thought to go into the menu. The instructions on mine stated not to charge the battery while connected and I have a buddy who took his in for warranty when the main black box went bad and they didn’t cover it because of that, they did install a plug at cost for him but he had to pay parts and labor for the Minn Kota repairs. With that said if you have the Minn Kota precision charger it may not be a problem. I originally didn’t install a disconnect after my buddies incident then went back and looked at my owners manual.
@@DoubleTFishing Well that is good to know, here is a link of how I learned on recording a track with motor stowed. ua-cam.com/video/EeiChNu7INY/v-deo.html
I didn't know you can't charge the batterys with thr trolling motor hooked up nobody told me that I just had my terrova installed at a boat shop thanks for letting me know
I've had 2 Minn Kota Ulterra's on 2 Boats and 1 36Volt Ulterra & I've never heard of this unplug thought displayed. I charge my Ulterra with it plugged in & off as well as unplugged. Respectfully the beginning of this video with the Key etc has me Lost as a Sum Batch... 🤣🤣🤣 I'm looking like Scooby Doo over here like "Wut Whoaaa Shaggy... Doo.. Bie.. Doooo Biiiieeeee... Dooooooooooooooooo"...............
I know a guy who had his warranty repair void because he told them he charged while connected, the Terrova manual also recommends a disconnect or plug so that’s what I do, might depend on the type charger, I didn’t look that far into it. Thanks for watching!!
@@DoubleTFishing Sir, your name is "Double T Fishing Texas" I would be a Fool to Argue with you... 🤣🤣 I'm just stating for 6 years I've never applied this but will put a mental note on it at this point.. Keep posting.. 👍👍

Good morning Double T, I am thinking about replacing my Minn Kota Fortrex with the Terrova i-pilot but wanted to know if it is possible for the Terrova to sync or network with the Garmin uhd 93sv? Thank you and as always great video.
No, unfortunately the Terrova or any Minn Kota product will only communicate with hummingbird. Garmin has a trolling motor called “Force” worth looking at if you have a larger boat. Have a great day!!
You can connect your Garmin to the Terrova with a special adapter cable, but it'd be a long run to the console if not bow mounted. Your Garmin may be limited depending on the type of transducer on the Terrova (there are two available: Mega down imaging, or universal sonar.) I'd check with a MinnKota dealer.
Unfortunately not, a Minn Kota will only communicate with hummingbird sonar units, Garmin makes a trolling motor called “force” that can be networked with an echomap. It’s pricy, around $3600 I think they are 24v made for larger bass boats. Have a great day Johnnie
I have an Ulterra 112 and have 3 solar panels mounted on the boat charging the batteries even while using the troller. We have been using this for 5 years. Not sure why the requirement to disconnect charging power ?
Conventional chargers can product what’s called a ripple current produced from the conversion from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Harsh ripple current can damage the sensitive electronics on a Minn Kota. Apparently they didn’t get good protection on the boards as I haven’t run across any chart plotters that have that recommendation. With that said there isn’t any conversion in a solar panel probably the reason you have no issues. Thanks!!
MG marine Tech and Russell Marine are very good channels with marine electronics. They don’t do much editing on their videos which should easy to watch
Sorry to hear that Gordon. I can appreciate your point of view. That’s one of the great things about UA-cam content is with hundreds of videos on every topic consumers are able to choose which content creators suite their personal preference. Personally I’ve found creators who put the effort into editing videos without shacky camera work, good consistent audio and lighting put more effort and research into their content.

Nice video! I wonder why Minn Kota remotes don't have backlit keys. I fish at night a lot and it's difficult to use the remote in the dark.
That would be a great feature. You could use your phone but if your like me I don’t have it on me in case I fall in 😂, have a great day Steven

You ever wonder what the update is actually for? I mean if the TM is working fine, what's the update actually do? Just shares data back to Minn kota?
what button are you pushing when the software update is highlighted. you moved the remote away so i couldn't see it
Press the down button to get to “software update” then the button with the ☑️, have a great day!!

What does the update change. My iPilot is a generation older.
No big changes I noticed afterwards, likely more interface with hummingbird units
Thank you very clear video
