Converting my Truck to Premium LEDs (2019 RAM 1500)

- What's up, guys!? In this video, the long awaited change has finally happened. I'm converting my standard lights to the premium LEDs, which is how this truck should come in all trim levels. It looks so dated otherwise.
I plan to do a followup video on the overall performance of the lights, although I don't have any "before" footage to show as I never thought I'd be doing this on video. Stay tuned for more awesome content!

I purchased mine from Brunswick Auto Mart Wholesale as they are local to me, but you can search for these numbers online to find your best price(s).
How much were the lights? Where did you get them? Ty brother
Thank you did mine today and it turned out great!!
Did it throw any codes? Thanks for the video. I hope it’s this easy for my 2021 ram 1500 big horn
Did you need any adapters to go from halogen to LED on the tail lights?
Nope! Plug and play on those. 👍
The tail lights are plug and play? Or did you get adapters from retroshop?
@@michaelrecore1533 plug and play! No adapter needed.
What fuse slots you plug into
Hey. Nice video.
Can I use alpha obd to program the lights instead of using a harness ?
Nope, there needs to be a conversion from AC to DC, not possible without the adapter unless you wanted to try to make your own. I’d advise just buying it.
i just checked there website and no luck on finding the harness adapter, i recently bought some leds for and led model and mine are hologen, any other options where i could get this harness adapter? thank you

Great video brother! I just did this on my Bighorn about a week ago. I was wondering if you noticed that the bars are a lot dimmer during the day than other Rams that came with it from the factory, and if so, did you figure out how to increase brightness? I’m also struggling to get just the bars to run with the DRL’s instead of the beams.
I haven’t noticed that honestly. The DRL setting is in your car settings, accessed from the entertainment system. Mine have been on since day one and haven’t had any issues yet. 😁
@@TheMadDutchDudewhere did you get the harness and headlamps from?

This is gonna be trucking awesome ;)
We’re the taillights just plug and play? Or you had to get a harness for taillights as well? Also, for the headlights, there is a small plug, did you just leave it hanging, since there was no where to connect it with retrofit harness
Thanks in advance for the response
The tail lights are 100% plug and play. I truthfully don’t remember the little plug, but if it’s there, I left it to dangle. 👍
@@TheMadDutchDude thanks for the response
Why did you get a chrome trims truck at first place if you don't like it 🤦
@@alextorrescaratachea truck has long been and gone, my guy. I’ve got a TRX now.
@TheMadDutchDude still makes no sense 🤦
@@alextorrescaratachea peoples opinions change, I don’t mind the chrome. Never deleted it, didn’t on my limited either. It was an idea, but I decided against it.
Where you get?
Thanks for the vid brother! I just ordered the same black bezel taillights from the dealer should be here tomorrow. The dealer told me the same thing that they wouldn’t work.
Luis Landeros that’s because it’s an “unofficial” mod, but they’ve been working perfectly for me since the adapter got replaced. Absolutely love it and honestly hate that it isn’t just a factory option for all of them. I get that it’s a “premium” feature, but come on! Lead the competition, RAM! :D
Where do you connect the truck power harness to?
where can I buy adapters and headlights brother
Jr Meraz you can get them from a place called RetroShop. Amazing people to deal with. As for the actual lights, any MOPAR reseller. I can get you the part numbers if needed. Google around, find the cheapest, buy from there. I don’t recommend BAM Wholesale, sadly. Although I got mine from there... their follow up customer service is terrible (read: nonexistent)!
thank you bro, I went to the dealership and they told me that it is not possible, I will buy these thanks
Jr Meraz yeah, mine told me that too. It’s because they aren’t officially supported and absolutely have to have the adapter. From what I can tell, it’s pretty simplistic inside. Some kind of a PWM regulator to stop it throwing codes on the dash and a separate 12 volt line to feed the DRL elements of the lights.
Is installation difficult? Or you need a professional
Jr Meraz I’m a computer guy, and even I managed to do it. It was my first intro to “modding” a car/truck, and I’m hooked. Just go slow, research plenty, and don’t be afraid if you can’t manage something. I spent approx. 4 hours on the whole procedure, and know it can be done quicker for the more experienced.
Hey Brother I got the same part numbers headlights and taillights just wondering the cable that goes to the fuse box in what position did you installed ? Currently installed at j35 but my truck won’t start maybe got it different
Luis Martini make sure you insert both the original fuse and the new one into the fuse tap. I made the exact same mistake and it freaked me out. Check that first. :)
@@TheMadDutchDude the fuse tap came with 2 fuse already installed? Do I take one out and put the original one in? What fuse slot did you put the fuse tap in?
@@manij1078 it comes with one in the box for the lights. You remove the one in your fuse box, add it to the fuse tap, and reinsert the tap with both fuses into the same slot it came out of. If you don’t, your engine won’t start.
@@TheMadDutchDude thanks for the fast reply. But the headlights I'm using already has 2 fuses in the tap .. damn China made lol
Great video, I have been wanting to do this on my Bighorn 2500. How is the front end up holding up after those clips broke? Also was everything purchased from a dealer? Thanks
Haven’t had a single issue at all. I installed the fogs a few months ago (finally!) and everything looks amazing now. The clips haven’t been an issue. You will need an OBD scanner and programmer for the fogs or you’ll have insane flickering issues.
Everything was purchased from a my local dealer with the exception of the adapters and the OBD2 scanner/programmer.
Hey do you know if these lights would fit on a 2018 ram 1500 ?
They’re a different size/shape, I believe. I’d say no.
Yes they will fit. Just make sure that they are 1500. I have took a 2500/3500 ram led light and added them to my 2018 plus with the harness and they worked perfectly
They look good, but how well do they light?
Night and day difference, literally. I wish I got a before and after... rookie mistakes, I guess. I’ll try to be better in the future.
@@TheMadDutchDude So they're good?
@@poseidon5003 love them. They make the truck look modern and the light is bright. Very happy to have dropped the $2k after very much regretting not getting them from the start.
@@TheMadDutchDude Thank you for the info man!
Will this void my factory warranty on my 2019 ram after I install this ?
I couldn’t tell you for sure. I would assume not, but it may.
For anything electrical it may but they'd have to prove it. However your power train no it will not void anything
Led lights add extra 5hp per light
Lawrence Timme yeah, who needs a Whipple super charger when you can add LEDs? ;)
I want to do this with my lone star , but it looks like a hassle 😩
I’m a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff. Set aside a day in the sun and you’re good to go. 😁
Does your blind spot detection work now? Did you have it before?
Spence 56 I didn’t have it before, and opted for the lights without. However, I believe you can have it installed and activated by a dealer at a later date. Don’t quote me on that, though.
Is it possible to install the Hlights for the LIMITED edition INSTEAD OF THOSE?
It is possible, but you should know that the front is different on the Limited. You will need a different grill and paneling under the lights. I've seen it done, but it is not something I planned on doing given that I didn't want to spend more on the rest of the setup.
Anyone try just tinting the original ones??
I’ve seen them with “smoke” tint. Looks good, but not as good as the LEDs with a smoky tint. ;)
whats the point of a headlight video if you dont actually show them on. 13:43 waste of time
You didn't have to watch the entire video... haha! Also, I'm new to the game, I didn't even think of it. I'll take your feedback and improve upon it in the future. :)
Why wouldn’t you show the end?!
Pack P new to making vids. We all learn. :)
Bruh show the lights on 🤦🏻♂️
You had one fkn job. And that was to turn the head lights on for the video. Wtf man.
I guess we’ll have to take your word for it that they look good lol.
I know. LOL. It was something I thought of after the fact. But it’s not like you’ve not seen one of these on the road at this point. I see more RAMs than anything else in my area. 🤣
Be gone with the Chrome!
Can you do my car 😂
A Y I don’t think I’m that good at it... I’ve only done the one. 🤣 it’s really not too difficult. Just take your time. 😁
Gave a thumbs up big dodge is still garbage
