To simplify it, the expansion valve allows the refrigerant to decompress quickly. This causes the refrigerant to be cooled down.If you've had a leak in the system it might cause small particles of debris to clog it since it is a sealed system.
Tim my expansion valve is installed vertically vs the horizontal mount shown here. It is a 2002 CRV and it was built in Japan. My question is this: is it basically the same removal (it appears it would be) and is it the same part that you had used? if unsure how would I go about finding that info in order to order the right compressor/condenser and expansion valve? Much appreciated!
There seems to be some confusion, where should the O-Rings be replaced, the expansion valve kit comes only with 2 right? One big one small. Some poeple replace the O-Rings on the AC lines, and some people replace the ones that are on the evaparator's end. The best way would be to replace all 4?
Usually the low side will be low and the high side normal and ac want be cooling,if you know your gauge readings I could tell you what the problem is probably at.
I'm not clear on what you had to do to remove it. One moment the part is in place. The next moment it is removed and it looks like a rat has chewed around the opening for it.
Great job of explaining this job. Also helps to explain what the expansion valve does.

doesn't the refrigerant need to be taken out before taking off expansion valve?
@@stephenmissi6815 it was,and yes it does.
I HIGHLY APPRECIATE YOU THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME , IT TOOK ME 10 MINS TOPS 💯💯💯💪🏽❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Thanks for the video

It's the same, doesn't matter if it was upside down, lol.
Hi Daniel, I just bought Idoing head unit. My original radio is premium just like you. Can you tell me how I identify they send me the right one?
Thanks buddy for sharing 👍
You bet
Great job thank you for sharing
Great job 👏 thanks you
Your welcome,Thanks for watching.
Are you using S.A. E tools on a metric car?
O yes, sometimes that 3/4 fits tighter than a 19mm 😎

No confusion I change both,I just used the new ones for the outside lines this time I have a whole drawer full of new ac o rings, thanks for watching
Do you have to recharge the system after doing this?
Yes,vacuum system and recharge
What brand name electric ratchet is that you're using??
Husky from Home Depot,I would highly recommend.
Same for an Element? Doing one next week for a friend.
Yes all Honda’s have basically the same set up those years.
Goodnight! Can you explain to me better what the signs of a problem with the expansion valve would be.
Thanks!

What what’s the symptoms before the change ? Thanks
Low side high, high side normal, restrictive flow from the valve, not opening enough, plus I’ve been doing ac work for 30 years, seen it all,lol
@@timzauto thanks o lot sir
If the a/c of my 06 crv will only cool when running in the highway . Would that be a symptom also?
Could be many other components as well, have it checked.remember if you aren't checking you're guessing.
@@yohanelsurdito1181most likely your condenser fan is not working
Well this work on a 2006 Honda accord ?
Yes exactly the same
@@timzauto so if I cut the firewall well the expansion valve stay in place when it’s time to go back in ?

Like I say in the video,u will have to use a dremal around the opening to be able to get it out,it doesn’t have to be perfect
main reason i watched was to see exactly how you pulled it out,,,you skipped that part
Just pulled it out once I widened the hole, pulled from the stud in the middle of the expansion valve to get it out, thanks for watching.
@@timzautohow did you “widened the hole”?
