Our families cottage that was built in 1949 by my father-in-law is only 50sf larger and has three 8x9 bedrooms and one 3x6 bathroom all on one floor, the main room is 12 x 20 one half is the dinning room and the other is the living room, kitchen is about 9 x 11. I prefer the efficacy kitchen over the large kitchen at our house. Enjoy the process of making your cabin into a home.
My cabin is 24x32 one level, 2 bd, 1 ba, great room, kitchen and utility room. I built a hidden pantry into an interior wall, we used 2x6 when we framed that small wall, pantry measures 28 wide by 9’ tall by 6” deep and we built a barn door so it doesn’t swing into the room.
Yes, it does! A mud room would be great so I don't have muddy boats going through the main room. I just need to figure out storage so we can walk through.
The floor does get cold. Slippers are a must in the winter. I'm thinking I do need a rug in the front room. Just trying to figure out a size that will work with the fireplace.
Thank you! That is a great idea with the ladder. We thought a lot about that. Right now it has 2 sets of hooks. One while it is in use, then another set to lift it to stand straight to get it out of the the way.
Nice cabin !
Thank you!
Good Day from Charleston,SC ! New subscriber/follower. very nice cabin.

That is priceless to have something to enjoy that your father-in-law built! Thank you for sharing. That is the key, isn't it? Enjoy the process!

You got a lot in that space, that amazing! I love the hidden pantry idea.
Looks great, it’s always going to be a work in progress!
Thanks! That is so true, there will always be something to work on.
Nice cabin. First thing that comes to mind is more windows. Always nice to have a view outside if you're going to live in such a beautiful location.
Thanks for your idea. I agree 100%, more windows would be great!
Very Nice Home ( Cabin)!!
Thank you!
Love this cabin!
Thank you!
Keep it simple and rustic looking.
Less is more for sure in this cozy space!
Nice. Cozy. Is that a door coming from outside at the end of the storage/laundry room? if so, it can also serve as a mud room.

my first thought was.....how cold are those floors ? ......buy plenty of wool hunting sox 😉👍

Pretty fancy compared to my trappers cabin 😂
I'll have to add a pic of the old toilet hole from when it was first built. It's right between the windows, between the futon and the table.
Beautiful place you should hinge the ladder so you can pull it up during the day

I like how a woman just takes over a man's hunting cabin
It's a good thing he likes me being around :)
