I was able to score the Imperial Frontier Powderhorn Trapper that is just like this but blue/black with a powderhorn shield I believe Schrade made it I bought it at a flea market for $15
I love the knife. I wish I could find an old one. I have the new one and the Chinese metal sucks. Sharpens very easily but it will dull if you look at it wrong. I have several older Old Timers with carbon steel blades I love.
Had a Schrade + 285uh trapper gifted to me in the 80s from a friend who lived in the US , as im in the UK. This is i believe jigged bone? But im not sure! This is a knife of amazing quality from a company that knew their craft! The blades are stainless no idea what type and back springs are definitely carbon steel . I still think this is one of the best pocket knives ive ever had ,and would have loved to get a Stockman,my favourite pattern of the old school! Such a shame Schrade went out ,as ive heard the china ones are crap? You can still find the US versions for sale but here in the UK they are extremely expensive !
I have to say I do like the long blades.im starting to think of more uses for a spay blade and wondering why modern knives don't use the shape so much.atb paddy.
The 940OT was made up until the end of Schrade U.S.A. production, which was coincidentally Schrade's 100th year Anniversary (1904-2004). My primary EDC knife is a 100th Anniversary 940OT in sawcut bone delrin. I have 4 more 100th Anniversary 940OT's in sawcut delrin in the display tins, and 2 more 100th Anniversary 940OT's in jigged bone delrin in unopened clampacks with the display tins. The Schrade 940OT is my favorite pattern of Schrade slip-joint knives. I have about 3 more standard (non special editions) 940OT's in my drawer, along with 2 bone handled 440A stainless blade Heratige 940OT models dated 1983 (first year of a 4 year production run 1983-86). !983 was the year I graduated high school and entered the Army.
kbaughman100 dam. Yu know we only supposed to outsource 10~15% of a companies freight?? Seems like my DTrump shd penalize fully the US companies for using more than that. He be hailed a “King”🔪🔪
Say Heah Jeremy, Yeah, we're taking a little breather. Did I ever tell you about my Battle Horse Knives. Well that's what I brought with me. I had my Attitude modified, I had it Slightly Curved and gota High Scandi on it. Then I had the Drop Point Lowered. I got the thickness that it came with, But I think it's .20" almost a 1/4" which makes it a beefy robust knife. I also had White G-10 Handles with Blue Liners. It's similar to a BK-2 in size, but I love it much better. Oh, I do have a BK-2. For a 5 14"+ I can use it as a Survival Knife, definitely. I also had my Mad Hatter Machete Modified so it matched my Modde Attitude. I did what Colhane did to his machetes I had a Scandi Grind put on it with matching handles. This way not only can I use it as a Summer Long Knife, but actually as a matching larger knife. Yeah, I cleared alot of brambles with it today, and my Modde Attitude also had a workout so far. I'm very happy with this combo. A friend of mine offered me almost $650.00 for the Combo and naturally I refused him. Theres no question the Modde Attitude could be used in a Tactical Situation, but the White Handle makes it L@@K people friendly, Yeah, It's a awesome knife. Actually both of them. I thought of you when I brought a Ka-Bar Stockman, I better be running along, We just took a break and we're heading back. You have a nice weekend Ok, Talk to you soon.,,.p
I have loved and lost several of these over the years. I love the 1095 blades.
