I have the Xmark with a 60" deck, similar to the one you used to run, I am cutting about 4.5 acres. I bought it about 6 years ago and I have to tell you, I just love it. Previously I cut with a garden tractor, this thing cuts the mow time in half. So far I'm not a fan of the battery powered stuff, small hand tools yeah, but not vehicles and mowers. Maybe some day?? So your comments on the quick reactions of a Zero turn are spot on. I used to cut 2 acres of grass in the deep south and have used lawn tractors, garden tractors and zero turns. If you want time to think while you are cutting; use the tractors. If you need speed; use the zero turn, but forget about thinking; as you found out; that can put you in the trees very quickly.

I remember being out at night catching night crawlers and packing my dads big 6v light. It was one of them that you mounted the battery to the head/handle. It was top of the line then but compared to today’s flashlight, it was horrible. And i wouldnt trade my dewalt power tools for corded tools for any reason. Anyway, stay safe everybody

You need to watch a UA-cam video on how navy ships refuel at sea. UNREP for Underway Replenishment. The navy uses M-14,rifles to shot a plastic line about 1/8” diameter across 100-150’ span for use as a messenger line to pull progressively larger lines across the span between to ships. They sell small rifle type guns for arborist to shot a line over limbs of large trees, they are CHEAP & would be useful to you for the amount of trees you cut down.

Well, that battery mower seems very nice. Like you said, it would fit perfectly for some people. There's a guy in my neighborhood who mows for people. He has a zero turn yellow mower. I've not seen it up close, but when he mows my neighbors yard near their drive, his mower sets of my car alarm. Sometimes just the bump notice, but it has set the siren off several times. You can hear that mower blocks away!! The battery mower would be a blessing in a tight nit development.I am stunned you had two dead trees so close. Several years ago, one company had their electric zero turn catch fire at the Equip Expo in the outside demo area. I think the fire department just covered it with dirt. I purchased an electric Ryobi push mower this year to mow a ditch at my home. It’s lite, 40 volts, and last for 45 minutes. It does that job easily. I am still not sure about using them in my mowing business. I am still a gas fan.

You can bet your last dollar that if it will run 16mph then some commercial cutting operation will sure as hell give it there all. Lots of these guys will cut during and immediately after a storm. Looks more like they missed 1/2 the grass or just knocked it down. To hell with the quality of cut.
This is a neat mower, but I'm seeing a price of around $25,000 😱😱😱. God bless the folks who NEED the latest and greatest of every tool ever created. Enjoy playing with this and be careful.

Hi Mike, I am an electrical engineer, ret. I agree that batteries have their place in certain applications. This may be one of those. With that said, there are other considerations when it comes to Li power. They are initial cost, battery life, battery replacement cost, and safety. NEVER store or charge that machine in any building you couldn't afford to lose. Lithium fires aren't easily extinguished. With regard to zero turn mowers, I've had a Grasshopper diesel for fifteen years. I love it. I'll be interested to see further results. Thanks for the initial review. Shalom/gw. PS. Mowers with a light duty cycle? Maybe! But battle tanks, and other heavy equipment? Not yet! Personally, I long for zero point energy. 😊

    a) Moving yellow slide to left side ( its bottom resting on splitter platform ) .
    b) In its place building a set of steps to come down one step one log cut at a time .
    c) Building a rack for about half a dozen of logs that you load singularly using the machine .
    d) After loading logs get off machine ; climb old steps bringing saw with you .
    e) When on top ; cut top log letting cut pieces drop on yellow slide onto splitter platform .

It has been corrected at the factory I am told. The motor is too much for the drive tire speed. It leaves skid marks in the turf. Out here on the farm it really doesn’t matter. In a nice yard with zoysia in the landscaping it would not be cool. I would love to be using a battery Stihl zero turn but at the price point I will be driving a cybertruck first.

I have a Ryobi electric ZTR. I love the idea of low noise, no gas, no oil, no filters, no belts etc. However the mower is junk, it arrived broken and been down hill ever since, roughest thing I have ever ridden, blades made from sheet metal, battery life about half of advertised now a defective motor controller. Once they get them 'perfected battery mowers will definitely replace gas except for maybe commercial users.

I tried running a zero turn 1 time. I think I could get used to it and like it but , my wife who loves to mow, would never get used to it so we’ll just stay with tractor type mowers. We don’t have that much to mow any way…. I sure could use you and your excavator to clean up storm damage here. I’ve got 2 tree tops on my garage and part of a tree on my mom’s roof. I don’t think there’s much building damage but getting someone to come do it is impossible right now as there are tree’s down everywhere and some building damage

With your 1st tree. WHISTLE! Some trees play " games" w/ loggers. I had a 9 inch apple tree very close to my nose. I felt the breeze on my nose as it fell! 😱😱😱😲😲😲😳😳😳🙄🙄🙄😬😬😬😑😑😑 I've been lucky all my 37 yrs of firewood logging. Thanks Mike. Say Hi to Melissa, Eva, & Hunter. 😍😊😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Obviously ground speed requires tip speed! Found the info on the new mower quite interesting, not surprised but had not idea such a tool existed! Thanks

I purchased a battery powered zero turn last year. I love the fact it is extremely quiet, there are no awful fumes, and no oil to change. I do sometimes miss just being able to throw more gas in and keep going. All and all I am pretty happy with it and it works well to mow two residential lawns of about 1.5 acres between my lawn and my MIL's lawn.

@tonylee997 you have found a magic internal combustion engine that creates zero fumes? You running a hydrogen lawn mower? If you would get off your riding lawn mower, and go directly to a dinner out, then perhaps you should consult an ENT as you have lost your ability to smell. I have run everything up to commercial grade mowers. They still stink. It's fine if you have time to change and shower afterwards but most times I find to mow, it is in between work, kid's sports, and other obligations. It's nice to hop on, mow, hop off, go, without being the guy everyone smells.

Here is an idea you may not have considered. If I had your gear and wanted to remove stumps, I would try using the excavator with splitter to split the stumps in the ground two ways crosswise into four pieces. The excavator w thumb may well be able to yank each quarter directly out of the ground since each piece would be well anchored on only one side. Digging a huge pit would be eliminated as well as refillling the pit. An extra advantage would be that on a burnpile, 4 pieces would burn a better than an unquartered full stump. I would love to see you try it!

Man this video was kind of all over the place! When you were 7, I was 8 and ZTRs like you see most today I don't believe existed. I think the machines back then had the deck out front and the rear wheels turned like a forklift.
True story! I put a battery in my truck yesterday and it was $415. I put the same battery in my boat 3 years ago for $159.
Five years ago I put a spindle on my sisters ZTR $29 maybe. Could be JoeBama like everything else going up, I don't know, but I guarantee prices will never come down. I'm going to guesstimate an electric STIHL blade motor in the hundreds and the motor that runs the machine in the thousands. Same with the battery. I bet the 22 hours of 220 juice is a lot more $$$ than the 4 or 5 gallons max I can run my 27 hp Kawasaki liquid cooled Gravely. I will have to pass.
At 58 I am already being priced out of too many things! I wonder if anyone has a video of a Tesla and an electric ZTR side by side both on fire with the firemen standing there just letting them burn out since they burn so hot the only thing that will put the fire out is dirt! Seriously, there is a video of a woman that backed her Tesla into a lake and it was under water on fire!
How did I miss you still having the Jeep? I thought that was gone after the Bronco came. Do you have a dealers license? lol

Always remember that battery powered things are great while the batteries are new. As those batteries age they lose capacity and performance. For instance the Milwaukee M-18 tools are awesome but the batteries begin to last less and less longer as they are used and recharged. These are roughly a hundred bucks a pop. I cant imagine how much it would be to replace a battery pack on a 25,000 mower. The more "they" try to push electric this and that the more I love my gas and diesel mowers, trucks, cars. Power tools is a 50/50 split. Some real power hogging tools like table saws, etc need to be corded not battery powered. Mowers too unless you only have 2 or less acres to deal with. Can you imagine missing a week due to rain or vacation then expecting to knock out 2 acres of 10-12 tall grass on battery power ?

One thing you need to get used to with one of those electric lawn mowers when you're done using it plug it in it doesn't matter if the battery is at 73% like it is of currently. Plug it in after the end of every use and when you come out to it it's at 100% state of charge it doesn't take much time to charge from 73% to 100% you never want to totally deplete the battery it'll work against you. Keep it topped off daily. That's what people don't understand about Teslas you can keep a Tesla topped off if all you're doing is driving 30 mi a day with a 110 outlet plug it in every night.
