That closet wasn't bad at all. When my grandmother died we found a 5 foot tall grapevine deer stuffed in a small bedroom closet. My sister whipped open the door expecting to see clothing and screamed BAMBI at the top of her lungs then slammed the door shut. After we recovered from being startled then busting out laughing, we had to wrestle the dumb thing to free it. I still can't imagine how an 82 year old woman managed to wedge it into that little space.

For these bedroom declutters that seem to be so hard, it might help for Sherri to think about not just how she wants to live generally but how she wants her bedroom to feel. Close your eyes and picture the most idealistic, serene, beautiful bedroom.

I love how she went thru them so fast. I don’t have much clothing but it’s mostly because I only own 57 hangers….so I only have 57 items which is 10 more items than I used to have. That’s my limit, other than t-shirts for work which I fold. That’s coats, shirts, sweaters, long sleeves, tank tops, pants, shorts, skirts. It might seem like a lot, but it’s still but it’s 90% of the stuff I wear often. I even dwindled my shoes from 42 pairs from when I was in HS to about 10. I own two purses but honestly just use my backpack, purses are for church. I’m still right with you because I still feel like a pack rat at times. This content helps me to see the stuff I should work on too. I’m so happy to see how beautiful you sisters home will become, just seeing it decluttered gives the room a fresh breath of air and even feel like the home itself is no longer in stress. Keep going! It’s so great to see it transform.
I'm really proud of your sister as a former shopaholic especially with Clothes, shoes and handbags I've decluttered my shoes and handbags but definitely need to do my clothes. This ain't easy is to do.
Like everyone else I’m loving the sister series. You work well together and you’re both cuter than can be. I live several hundred miles from my sisters, who all live in the same neighborhood. Because I can’t have them here to give me support and encouragement when I do organizing projects, I text pics of whatever I’m working on, as I get started, and then I text after pics. It’s the next best thing to having them here with me.
I’ve gone through my closet 3 or 4 times over the last few years and went from six bursting drawers and a full closet down to a quarter of a closet and three drawers. I don’t miss the massive amount of clothes and I’m so glad I went through the process. It’s hard work, it takes time, and it is so so worth it!
Wow that looks so good ☺️ she can hang the hangers backwords and when she wear something she can hang it the right way back. So she sees what she worn the last month and what she can declutter in the next round ☺️❤️🍀🎉

Forget about someone else's number on the internet, Sherry! A great start for you is to just declutter 1. What you DO NO LIKE any more 2. What DOES NOT FIT 3. What's TOO WORN or STAINED in any way That will get anybody pared down. You don't have to be a minimalist or only have some random number of items. Looks great! Same hangers throughout as well. Congratulations on a productive closet clean out in 2+ hours. Anyone can do this! Offer to help a friend and have her help you!
It’s not about someone else’s number on the Internet. using project 333 got her excited about doing her clothes and gave her structure. Just like working with me gave her the same thing. Things that seem simple in theory, are not so easy to execute in actuality.

Perhaps an idea of future uploads could be a 6 month update on everything you’ve both done. But showing both of you watching it & discussing what went right/wrong. How things have/haven’t changed. And if she’s still doing well, inspiration for her to continue a tidier life :)
So funny & lots of insight. I went from multiple large closets down to half a closet, a half full rolling clothes rack, and a few small drawers. It will be far fewer items in a month. I see the path now!!!
Thoroughly enjoy this series with your sister! It sure is easier to have someone to do it with you and give that little push. I always say I wish I add family members with specific careers: doctor, veterinarian, hair stylist, plumber, electrician, organizer, carpenter, mechanic.😊
You might want to read the Madame Chic series. She has ten basic items a season, but sweaters, scarves, handbags do not count. I can do that but in categories. Ten basic for work (but I went twelve six shirts/bottoms because sometimes I work Saturdays). Ten for non-work, but going out, Church, dinner, formal, weddings, funerals, etc.) I have less than ten for workout, hanging around the house, but ok if someone stops by. But winter workout and summer workout total more than ten. I find this works well. But I do limit myself to clothes that fit, if don't fit I put away, too. Best wishes.

Yay Sherry! Letting clothes go is definitely hard. I love how it makes things easier to choose and rids me of that uncomfortable/guilty feeling of not wearing/loving what I had. I’m proud of letting go, especially today, 3 of my hand knit sweaters went to 2 friends! It’s a start and it made me so happy to see them go to people who wear and appreciate them. Great job girls! Like Sherry I find decluttering clothes very hard too. After a Kon Marie disaster I tried this and it helped so so much---I put bows on 2 empty hangers and put them in the middle. As I wore, washed, and rehung things then put them between the bowed hangers. At the end of the season the clothes I had not worn at all were still outside the bowed hangers. It also helped that I have an ex-large sliding doors closet to myself so I put spring/summer on 1 side and fall/winter on the other. I had to do it my way. But 33 things? I'm just not there yet! Ha ha.

I have the problem of buying very specific types of items and telling myself I only have 3-5 of them, not so bad....But then I have like 12 categories lol. Like I only have 2 curdoroy pants, 2 overalls, 3 skinny jeans , 4 baggy jeans, 2 skater jeans, 2 ripped jeans, 2 cropped jeans etc, etc Next thing you know I have 20 jeans and that doesn't include all the bottoms.
Phenomenal job, ladies! I think your sister will really love the capsule concept. I'm not a minimalist with clothes at all, but I was dramatically changed after trying a capsule wardrobe. It really helped me frame a mindset around clothes and dressing that continues to inform my style and my shopping habits to this day. I was able to narrow my focus on only the pieces that I LOVED wearing, were comfortable and wore well. I stopped buying cheap clothes that would fall apart after several washes. I stopped settling for things that were just "okay". Transformational, even if you don't continue to do the capsule. For now, I've cultivated a habit of switching my wardrobe out seasonally, and decluttering and donating each time as I change out, say, winter for spring.
I decluttered my clothes and then do a capsule wardrobe for the season. It is so much faster to get ready and I know all the clothes fit. If I run across something that doesn’t fit well or I don’t like anymore it goes right into my donate box. Great job ladies!

She did an awesome job! Getting rid of that bag of hangers will free up so much room. Try narrowing down pajamas, work out clothes and lounge items to a certain amount. Maybe she'll pick a number to agree on. I've never understood why so many think they need 30 pairs of pajamas; I think 5-7 pairs for winter and 5-7 pairs for summer is plenty.

That was hard. I suck at downsizing clothes so I just did the trick where you turn all your hangers backwards and when you wear/wash them you put them back the right way. I did it on a January first and the next year every hanger still backwards got donated. I did it three years in a row and have about half the clothes I used to have. It does keep me rotating my clothes cuz I look through the backwards hangers for something to wear and I used to just put on the same things.

Such a thriller. With every item she got rid of, I cheered...whenever she said "keep" or "maybe" I was like "Nooooo!"

Yay Sherry! Letting clothes go is definitely hard. I love how it makes things easier to choose and rids me of that uncomfortable/guilty feeling of not wearing/loving what I had. I’m proud of letting go, especially today, 3 of my hand knit sweaters went to 2 friends! It’s a start and it made me so happy to see them go to people who wear and appreciate them. Great job girls! Like Sherry I find decluttering clothes very hard too. After a Kon Marie disaster I tried this and it helped so so much---I put bows on 2 empty hangers and put them in the middle. As I wore, washed, and rehung things then put them between the bowed hangers. At the end of the season the clothes I had not worn at all were still outside the bowed hangers. It also helped that I have an ex-large sliding doors closet to myself so I put spring/summer on 1 side and fall/winter on the other. I had to do it my way. But 33 things? I'm just not there yet! Ha ha.

I have the problem of buying very specific types of items and telling myself I only have 3-5 of them, not so bad....But then I have like 12 categories lol. Like I only have 2 curdoroy pants, 2 overalls, 3 skinny jeans , 4 baggy jeans, 2 skater jeans, 2 ripped jeans, 2 cropped jeans etc, etc Next thing you know I have 20 jeans and that doesn't include all the bottoms.
Phenomenal job, ladies! I think your sister will really love the capsule concept. I'm not a minimalist with clothes at all, but I was dramatically changed after trying a capsule wardrobe. It really helped me frame a mindset around clothes and dressing that continues to inform my style and my shopping habits to this day. I was able to narrow my focus on only the pieces that I LOVED wearing, were comfortable and wore well. I stopped buying cheap clothes that would fall apart after several washes. I stopped settling for things that were just "okay". Transformational, even if you don't continue to do the capsule. For now, I've cultivated a habit of switching my wardrobe out seasonally, and decluttering and donating each time as I change out, say, winter for spring.
Her decluttering muscles are definitely getting stronger. I love this series!
I decluttered my clothes and then do a capsule wardrobe for the season. It is so much faster to get ready and I know all the clothes fit. If I run across something that doesn’t fit well or I don’t like anymore it goes right into my donate box. Great job ladies!

Try narrowing down pajamas, work out clothes and lounge items to a certain amount. Maybe she'll pick a number to agree on. I've never understood why so many think they need 30 pairs of pajamas; I think 5-7 pairs for winter and 5-7 pairs for summer is plenty.

I love the idea of counting clothes
That was hard. I suck at downsizing clothes so I just did the trick where you turn all your hangers backwards and when you wear/wash them you put them back the right way. I did it on a January first and the next year every hanger still backwards got donated. I did it three years in a row and have about half the clothes I used to have. It does keep me rotating my clothes cuz I look through the backwards hangers for something to wear and I used to just put on the same things.

I love watching your channel and I am enjoying this series with your sister. You help keep her accountable without being pushy and she is a trooper for being able to release so much. You both should be so proud of what you've accomplished.
