Finally a very intuitive and comprehensible visual representation and the opportunity to compare different settings is so beneficial for the tweaking process. Lovely.
The peak distribution graph on the left is great. One way how I like to think about clipping is as removing peak outliers on the top end of that distribution. The graph is even more helpful here with all that freedom in the transfer function.
I have smart comp1 and just picked up smart comp 2 BUT haven’t had a chance to use it in a project yet. I use all of the smart tools but it varies track to track. I use smart limiter in everything at the moment at the end of my mastering chain.i often use smart co p on my drum and bass busses and the occasional track bus.
Only 2 compressor I know have good autogain is Unisum and Sculpt ... I will try this one out... I will have to see if the spectral comp is better than pro audio dsp DSM... Great review
@@psybursonic befor I moved to Bitwig I used Unfiltered audio zip ... I still do actually ... It's great for adding some movement to hihats ... Just modulate the attack and release with the built in LFOs ... It's a an epic compressor too
Have you noticed any phase shift when spectral compression is applied? For instance, Newfangled's Elevate is a spectral limiter and used on a mastered track it seems like it is introducing signal which was mono before (like freq < 100 hz ) is now as well in the side channel visable, is that accuring as well? Otherwise nice plugin and a very very good UI, reminds me a lot on fabfilter stuff. but this seems better, in terms of UX, not functionality, than the compressor from fabfilter. Thank you Dash, I really value your reviews!
I have a question about the latency of this product. Does it mean that the accuracy of the mixing can be reduced because of the latency of this product when I'm mixing?
Hello Dash, I've been checking out the ikmultimedia Tonex which is gonna be released soon. It's using AI machine and capture amp. (aux from amp to interface and microphone to Interface) and play in a plugin, how it seems. In the video they show it looks %99.9 accurate how it sounds. It's gonna be a new thing for people who is gonna share their amp sounds. Even though it's not released yet, what do you think about this system as a whole? Do you think it's gonna be that good how shown in the video?
Hi. Are sonible plug-ins compatible with Bitwig? I see that they work for you but I want to make sure before buying because there is nothing about Bitwig on their website.
Love this one, and smart limit actually gave me a great sound result. Always a pleasure to watch your videos, mate!

I love my smart limit!

Unisum is so awesome! I’d add TDR Molot GE to that list.

Literally why I think Maximus is so underrated

Already exists in convolution/IR since kemper

FL studio have a very similar compressor (plugin name: Fruity Limiter)
You're A/B'ing @ 0.1db reduction? That's bold.
I don't know why, but being this close to the face, gives me anxiety :(
How?
Watching on a phone it seems about right
