Honestly blows my mind that the biggest opportunity to have the most amount of people essentially continuing development of the game for 343i was totally missed. Social features should've been a top tier priority in development. Imagine what the game would have if 20 million people were spread out across Forge, Custom Games, File Share, and a Server Browser. Now that some players are checking out, Infinite and 343i will have to come out with some MAJOR new additions to keep any sort of relevance or to claw it's way back to Halo 3 levels of hype.

@eastsideeric I agree- PVE content would’ve great! Firefight at least. I actually like the concept of Spartan Ops it just needs to be improved upon. Good ideas with poor execution are the themes of H4 and H5’s new game mode additions.
Definitely agree with your points here. Especially the one about this game seemingly being held together by duct tape. It's becoming apparent that this game is potentially YEARS away from even being what Halo 3 was at launch. By that point who will care enough to jump back in except a dedicated core much like halo 5s base.
Dude I deadass punched the air near an enemy and killed him. Sometimes I melee them in the face and it gives me a back smack medal. Sometimes I lunge towards enemies and the melee doesn't land. Sometimes I'm basically making out with a dude and the melee wiffs, despite how it should have landed. To say it's held together by duct tape is generous.

I believe it’s been slightly longer with 343 at this point. And the fact that every single one of their releases has been a swing and a miss is just embarrassing. 343’s leadership needs to be replaced or the series should get handed off to a new studio altogether. They had more than enough chances to learn from their mistakes and actually put out a good game day one. They shouldn’t be given the opportunity to further run the franchise into the ground.
This is why I refer to them as 343 Incompetencies. By the time Infinite has a decent amount of content, Bungie would have released two amazing content-packed games with DLC.
Bungie also released 5 games in a shorter time period, 9 years, than 343 has in a decade, 3 games. Not to mention all of Bungie's games released with much more content
@@bigdaddynero Bungie put their employees through some hellish dev cycles to accomplish that many releases though. I’d certainly be willing to give up the quantity of games in order to give the devs more reasonable work hours so long as quality was maintained. But with 343 we have the worst of both worlds: shit dev cycles, less games, and each game ranges from extremely underwhelming to outright disasters. More reason to show 343 management the door.
Hey thanks for checking out this video! And thanks to all who helped make last month's video the most watched video in the history of the channel. Your support was really inspiring and very motivated to continue to make more content and invest in the channel. I definitely needed a shorter project after that last one and this was a topic id had on my mind for a while. P.s. in the video I mention buying the color blue multiple times. Yes I'm aware there is a Cadet Blue but there are also payed for versions of the color, for instance, with the Yoroi core. Just in case there was any confusion. Thank you all for the support!
Yeah, those big videos can get really draining really fast if you don't have a paid editor that can help you with them. I learned that the hard way. They are rewarding to finish though!
Honestly I think they would have abandoned the game already since player numbers would barely be hitting 10k on a F2P game. The next Halo game would be in development and 343 would be assuring us of an exciting future with a new strategy to bring the Halo we all know and love. In reality Halo would be dead. Forever. Infinite was the last straw for almost everyone and 343 barely managed to make something people wouldn't completely hate.
@@Bojoschannel I was extremely reluctant to board the hype train for this game. Knowing 343i's less than stellar track record of abysmal launches, I can't say I didn't see this coming from lightyears away. I haven't even bothered playing Infinite, nor would I bother playing the game even after they add all the features that should have been there at day 1. In short, I don't trust 343i at all. They have proven themselves to be terribly inconsistent at fulfilling promises. Their only success seems to be piggybacking off the legacy content developed originally by Bungie. K I'm done ranting.
When are people going to realize that 343 has botched every launch they have been in charge of. I haven’t been hyped for halo for a very long time which is sad because how much I loved and played this franchise growing up.
I personally like their games but I agree, the studio is a complete mess and I don't know why Microsoft has done nothing to fix them or hell just get a new studio to work on Halo. They keep repeating the same mistakes even though they've been around for a decade. 💀
The problem is not the live service. The problem is 343 themselves: they are grossly incompetent and have proven so since Halo 4. They get a handful of things right, but overall the smell of poop coming out of the games they make ultimately overwhelms everyone. 343 is the problem. They don’t know what they are doing and never will. The closest they ever got is with Halo 5 as far as multiplayer goes, and we all know how long that took.
No, its Microsoft. Microsoft built them. Microsoft calls the shots. Microsofy okays the porduct, just like how Microsoft was just fine shipping MCC as the broken mess it was.
@@Vashkey It's both. Xbox being very laxed with devs and cycling out contractors, and 343 with biting off more than they can chew, leadership, spreading everyone thin, lack of a vision for both the game/story, list goes on. Honestly just give Halo to some other developer.
The most painful thing to me about Live Service games, is that people have confused battlepass unlocks for content. The sandbox is the content, the core gameplay is the content. If it is good, I will stick around forever. I mean, I still play MW2 because of how fantastic the mechanics are. Infinite could have 200 times as much battlepass content, and I would still not care for the game. I’m not playing until forge or co op is added, or the balance is changed to be more enjoyable. I
Battle passes have rotted the brain of most gamers. Glad to see someone else wants to see something of substantial substance and not a armor piece a single person whipped up in an hour.
It speaks volumes that Halo 5 around this same time in it's release was able to start pushing big updates, but Infinite still hasn't had one yet. The game honestly should've probably been pushed back another year, and not have been pushed as free to play. I wanted to be optimistic about it back when it was first announced, but it's becoming more and more clear that the F2P model is the main root of Infinite's problems.
F2P isnt the problem. 343 is the problem. Same shit happened with Halo 5 and it wasn't free. Stop supporting their game and let them starve, guarantee they change their ways then.
I wish we had at least gotten Grifball and Infection at launch. I feel like that would’ve been something, even if it was the bare minimum with the modes that we actually got at launch. I feel like Microsoft has a lot to do with the game launching this year. 343 might say “we want to ship it” but let’s be real.. the developers who actually work on the games, don’t want to ship something that isn’t complete. It’s the higher ups and the suits that wanna rush shit out
You really can´t blame microsoft for 343 incompetence (unless they got forced to redo the game from scratch or something) when they already delayed it by a year and considering that Halo 5 came out 2015. At this point it is simply 343 that fucked up every single Halo game.

Yup, been saying it for a couple months. Live service without any of the benefits of a live service🤷🏻♀️ 343 response time is of a traditional game release. And with the current state of the game. It going to be 1-2 years until we see any actually substantial additions. (That’s not community made with forge. Which they crutched hard on with halo 5. And won’t be surprised if they do it again here)
15:00 "343 are NOT building Halo correctly." A statement that has been true since the very beginning... 17:00 I can decide right now. I don't need to wait. 343 and their performance thus far have been painfully clear, overly so, in fact. We need a new game, but not just that. That wouldn't be enough. We need a new studio, some new devs and, maybe most of all, new leadership. And the fact that so many people voted to keep this game in favor of another, honestly, saddens me. The fans deserve so so SO much better, we really do. Halo 4 and 5 were not dreams, MCCs launch wasn't a hallucination and HI is most certainly a nightmare, without question. 343 is done. Or, at least, they should be.
I remember looking at the wording 343 used when talking about the microtransactions before the game came out. It set off flags in my head, and I brought it up when my friends would geek out about speculating what Infinite would be like. The biggest Halo simp turned to me and said, "Nah man, they learned from Halo 5, they aren't gonna put in lootboxes or anything scummy like that." I said we would see, and LO AND BEHOLD THEY FUCKING BUILT MULTIPLAYER TO BE PREDATORILY OVERMONETIZED. Halo 5 wasn't this bad, and it had fucking REQ pack loot boxes. At least 5 launched with somewhat functional netcode, a campaign that felt like you actually did something in (no matter how terribly written and un-Halo it was), and armor you could grind for. Infinite just straight up demands you pay for the majority of Mk VII armor customization. You can only earn two pairs of shoulderpads, two helmets, two chestpieces, and a handful of colors outside of the fomo timed events. So no, 343 did not learn anything good from 5. If anything, they learned they could be greedy and launch an undercooked game and still make megabucks, and decided to minmax that model upon launching Infinite. I am beyond disappointed.
I feel you. Every time I brought up the egregious track record of 343 and looked at what they were saying during development, all I heard was people wearing hype blinders defending Infinite. The very fact that people are so starved for a proper Halo game is testimony for 343's incompetence.
Yep! Keep it up, Favyn! Absolutely on-point videos. I'm still referencing his How to Innovate Halo Without Changing its Formula video in discussions even now.

If you're offline in that you're not playing period because that's an actual live service and offline play doesn't even make sense to say for it. Halo is more like DRM. When the game launched, I was happy just to see a fun, modern yet classic Halo game. Infinite was well-praised at release for many good reasons. However, in the two months since then, 343i has somehow fucked everything up by adding desync issues, not adding content-filled updates, and fucking everything else up. Make no mistake, this game was in a much better state at release, and we all expected 343i to continue the momentum. Unfortunately they didnt’t, and instead fucked it up
People were desperate for a W. It was clear when the very first trailer came out and everyone was calling it a return to form before they even saw gameplay. All they needed to see was the Master Chief in his old Mark VI armor and they were convinced. The Halo fanbase is gullible and unable to learn from the past.
@@Vashkey Like I said it has everything to do with art style. Also 343 was building up good trust with the way they handled MCC and the way they worded stuff with the dev blogs.

I'll be honest as a zombs player it still sucks. I feel like in an ideal world cosmetics fueling dlc frees developers to make as much as they want. Unfortunately in this world now that dlc is fading out companies are putting less and less effort into meaningful post-game content. There is alot of small updates and then posturing because they're "supporting the game"
@@charlesmartiniii1405 honestly I think the problem is that games studios are too ambitious for their own good. They wanna make the biggest game possible, which flattens the budget, which leads to gutting gamemodes, world details, and the introduction if microtransactions to fund the updates to add the content that should be there at launch. Not to mention some of these studios do yearly releases, which is insane. The Open World I think was a big mistake in terms of dev time and resources. 10 solid replayable mission is better than one large level with the same objectives repeated 40 times.
What's even more sad is that 343 just recently has been able to put up a better live service-esque model with the recent MCC updates and fixes, plenty of new free content and cosmetics like the battle passes, ODST firefight with matchmaking and flood mode, etc. All in a game package that is literally stitched together with ducktape by a much smaller dev team. Completely baffling that they couldn't replicate that for a game with much more support.
My friends make fun of me for basically getting suckered into live service games all the time. The fact that I dropped Infinite after two weeks says a lot 🤣

You'd be surprised. 343 has a lot of defenders this time around, because they've been fooled by the "its a live service game - it'll get better!" excuse. Its ridiculous. We should have rallied against 343 once and for all with this game after the 1, 2 & 3 punch of Halo MCC, Halo 5 and Halo Infinite's launches, yet they managed to fool everyone into standing up for them.
@@Josh-si6ds Lol exactly. Like I can't even defend this game anymore. I waited 6 years for false promises, one of the worst monetization systems I've seen, lack of content, major game breaking issues like desync and many more. The game is 12-18 months away from being anywhere near feature complete, and that's ignoring the bare minimum requirements of being a live service game. Any other F2P live service game has a new season (on average) every three months. New characters, weapons, skins, maps... CONTENT. 343 can't even deliver a roadmap within 3 months. At this point it's laughable. I truly think 343 should have the property stripped from them. They obviously can't handle it, and they clearly don't understand what a live service game is
I feel like removing Infinite from 343 would do more harm than good right now, the story of the campaign is going in a good direction, I'd rather not have a new studio come in and completely 180 it. I do agree though that 343 needs a management shakeup at the very least.
I’m willing to bet that the amount of work required to fix and overhaul all of Infinite’s haphazard underlying systems and code in order to make it a stable enough base to be a platform for the next ten years of Halo will probably come close to rivaling the effort required to make a new game anyway. In any event, I think the one thing that has become abundantly clear is that the vast majority of 343s management is simply not up to the task of stewarding this series and should be replaced. I don’t see the series ever returning to the level of quality nor popularity that the original games had without a drastic shake up in leadership. Either this or shut down the studio altogether and hand off the series to a pre-established studio with a proven track record like iD software.

Perhaps 343 knew they couldn't deliver a fully featured Halo so they decided to go free to play because they knew asking full price would be a non-starter.
Unfortunately most people that are playing Halo due to it being F2P don't have high expectations - or those high expectations they had have been dulled by the word "free". I've played Halo since the early 2000s, it was my favorite franchise. Was. Infinite finally put the nail in the coffin for me, especially after Halo 5. They sacrificed content in order to become a live service; people assume they wanted to make the game free for our benefit... but let's be honest. They'll make more money going F2P than they ever would have charging 60 or even 70 dollars as a one-time purchase. Greed ruined this franchise.
You've done a great job at expressing most of my feelings about this game. At its core, it's the best Halo has been in over a decade. The gameplay and the art style bring me back to the good old days of Bungie's Halo, and I love it all. But that's pretty much the only good thing I have to say about the game's multiplayer right now. There's so much potential with this game, and 343i have failed to utilize that potential in almost every single way. Many of their decisions are questionable at best, and make me wonder what the hell is going on in their company. They try to change things that worked perfectly fine (like the UI in Bungie's Halo games), and end up creating a broken mess. I still believe that Halo Infinite should have been delayed another year. Both the campaign and multiplayer feel like a hollow shell of what they were supposed to be.
@@stealthswim223 It's not just that they don't have enough staff, but specifically that they don't have enough permanent staff. A good chunk of their workforce is comprised of contractors that can only work for 18 months. That kind of turnover is sure to hamper development.
Halo going to free to play/live service cheapened the brand. The same thing can be lobbied at Gears of War in recent years. These are at this point legacy brands that should be treated like top shelf liquor. Not something that you dilute with water to satiate those with a lack of taste.
I wish the challenge system was like MCC's where you complete a challenge (or set of challenges) and get a season point that you can spend on one item in a pool of select weekly rewards. Do it like this would get rid of FOMO because if you didn't finish the challenges in time you could try again next week.
I thought they were going to make the battle pass and challenges like the MCC since they are actually pleasant to use, but what a fool was I, gotta lower my expectations through the floor
I stopped playing after I beat the campaign on legendary. The game just feels so empty… It’s a shame you can’t replay specific campaign missions without using different save files. Or the lack of campaign co-op. And the fact that BTB never works. And how playing ranked gets old so fast.
Even then the gameplay is a shadow of fun compared to Halo 3. All the weapons are precision weapons. There are two automatic weapons, no duel welding, no human close quarters weapon, no missile pod, no scrap Canon in multiplayer, plasma pistol track is so poor it will miss even when you are aim correctly. Br head shots sometimes miss, it's better to just take down shields with body shots which makes no sense. Just... Sigh this is the most boring weapon sandbox. There is only like 4 weapons I enjoy playing with
@@bombomos Most of the weapons are very good but gimmicky, being good and powerful but having to be used a specific way to reach their max potential. "No human CQC weapons" Did you just forget about the Bulldog? "Its better to take down shields with body shots which makes no sense" Dude its been like this for EVERY halo. Every Halo, including 3, only has headshot damage apply AFTER the shields are broken, when the shields are still up the headshot damage and bodyshot damager are the same. "There are two automatic weapons"- Lets count- Sentinel Beam, Assault Rifle, Needler, Disruptor, Hydra. That's 5. The Bulldog is also automatic but the Spartan is slam-firing, its not an actual automatic gun, so we won't count it. Duel wielding messed up the sandbox balance quite a bit and I'm honestly happy it's gone. Fine for campaign, but bad for MP. I actually think Halo Infinite has one of the best sandboxes in Halo due to how unique each gun is. A Heatwave and a Bulldog despite being very similar in Arena, can be used MUCH differently in BTB due to the Heatwave's longer range. The Cindershot is great for CQC (bounce shots off the floor) and Vehicle-killing but sucks near mid-ranges. Disruptor's great for vehicle killing and destroying shields. Hydra is awful in Arena but great in BTB for shooting down air vehicles and containing vehicle-spam. I honestly can't think of any "bad" weapons in this game other than the Plasma Pistol and Ravager. Even the Commando and Stalker rifle aren't bad, they just have other weapons that overshadow them (They both needs buffs).
Dang, this hits hard. I admire your zeal in putting out this video. Everybody else has been sugar coating Infinite, but you cut right to the bone and I 1000% agree. As a long-time Halo fan something felt(feels) off about Halo Infinite when I first started playing. That being the Ridgid sandbox. Yes, there is a sandbox, but everything about Halo Infinite feels like it's just barely in the players control, like the developers are secretly manilupating the game and giving us the illusion that this is the most "free" Halo ever. In direct contrast, the shear amount of content in Base game Halo 3. It wowed me to learn that when playing "untraditional gamemodes" the maps were actually forge mode in matchmaking. The map "foundry" was created with the sole purpose to be a forge map (every object completely customizable), THAT is what I call player Freedom. Halo Infinite's maps feel too committee managed with zero wiggle room for modularity. Simple things like swinging doors and gates added a lot to the chaos of the Halo sandbox. Unfortunatly "chaos" is not something Microsoft wants. They want Control.

@@stardust_2339 To be a monopoly you have to control 50% or more of the market, as we speak even with the Activision acquisition they would only control 13% that's lower than Sony. Also, new indie and triple-A studios are always sprouting up and gaming is growing bigger and faster than ever.
I think you're exaggerating, yes the game has barely any content but we also need to keep in mind the campaign and the core gameplay since it has been the best since Halo 3, 343i isnt incompetent at all since they nailed the core elements and make Halo feel like Halo again, the problem is the content
So glad I found your channel! It's like listening to a more fair-minded me. Sometimes I like opposing opinions to challenge my own. Sometimes I just want to know I'm not the only sane person online.
The fact that 343 said UI limitations was preventing them adding playlists is a red flag to me that this game has very poor foundation. It's baffling to me even as a developer that this is an issue for a company like 343. I think the amount of outsourcing they have done in the past six years has really affected the quality of this game.
Spot on analysis once again, Favyn. I have a lot of friends who insist that adopting the free to play model and going down the live service route was the best thing for Halo because it "brings in more players." My response always boils down to this: "Sure, it might lower the barrier of entry enough to bring in record player numbers at first, but simultaneously it has also clearly lowered the quality and quantity of content in a way that causes record _drops_ in player numbers as well." So ultimately what you're left with is an incredibly high initial peak that quickly plummets, before stabilizing at levels far before its competition and more importantly, the Halos of old. And lo and behold that's exactly what the Steam Charts show...
I’m a die hard halo fan. Every single fps halo I’ve bought day 1 and played for years religiously after. Even halo 5 and 4 I played religiously for close to a year after even with its lack of content. Halo infinite has been the absolute fastest I’ve ever dropped a halo game. Only took me 4 weeks.
I've been fuming about this since launch and finally have a place to vent about it. How on earth did 343 have the brains to make "grassroots partners" and then not include them in this new game. THEY LITERALLY MADE SWAT NATION A GRASSROOTS PARTNER, and then didn't put SWAT in the game at launch?????????? A community that you identified as valuable got a slap in the face....
if there's one thing 343i did right, it's convincing people that this game was gonna be good before it came out they made a good primary gameplay loop for a generic fps game that feels somewhat like halo, made some stuff look kind of like halo, then said "ok that's enough intelligent design choices, let's get to work on making the fucking bazaar map from call of duty as part of our 8 map roster" and we all fell for it like amateurs
Great video again. Was really hoping the 6 years of development time is all 343 needed to release a content complete game. But No, once again 343 can't get forge & customs done in time & still neglects theater mode. I too am in the same boat & believe they will deliver eventually. But the honeymoon phase is dying if not already dead. I wish they'd bring in max hoberman, the godfather of custom games & ideas. Listening to him in halo 2: artifacts, all the ideas & plans he had for customs & matchmaking in H2. H2s social features basically made Xbox live what it is today.
I was so excited for infinite’s release and so ready to make content. I haven’t made a video in over a month. There’s literally nothing there to get excited about or to get the creative juices going.
halo thought they were about to pull an apex with the unexpected release live service free to play.. the difference is apex was a brand new title with a brand new first person battle royale with great gun mechanics that a ton of gamers were waiting on for years with fortnite popularity. apex players stuck it through the rough period bc there was no history with the title and everyone understood its gonna take a little time to get off its feet and it did. halo is much different being one of the first major fps with a long history of content, its really mind-blowing how bad they are screwing this up. its like they would rather have a big turnaround story than a big success story
It’s like dragging a dead horse 50 miles to water, forcing it to drink magic water, and reviving it. 343 is the dead horse. It’s made some good changes along the very long hike, but it’s just a frustrating, heavy haul getting them all the way there, and who knows if they’ll actually drink the water once we’re finally there
Very good video! Sad summary of the state of Halo. Especially the last point: Halo has always been a live service game. I hadn't thought about it this way, but you are totally right.
Just a reminder: Halo 5 had Campaign and MP for 60$ AND free content updates. REQ Packs were kinda weird since they were RNG but unlockable by playing or by investing money. So selling Halo Infinite as Liveservice game is the greatest Hipocrisy in Halo's History, they sold the Campaign Separately for 60$ because they knew only the OG Fans would care about the Story and so they decided to Scam them by excluding the MP and calling it "Free 2 Play" to justify the MTX Cashgrab. Just think about it...
To be fair, the community managers are little more than messengers for the people in charge. Let's not shoot them for the stupidity of those running 343, because I doubt they even genuinely believe the propaganda they're forced to tell us.
13:49 The funniest part about the UI debacle is that when the patch to add new playlists finally rolled around, the only thing that had changed about the UI layout on the frontend was a scroll bar that had been added to scroll down and select the new playlists. A fucking. Scroll bar. 6 years, boys and girls.
honestly I got distracted by how good you are with the mauler. I would be the guy wondering why I am getting absolutely decimated and screeching on the other side
I remember seeing that TC was helping out in Infinites development in some way. And when 343i came out with the "difficult to change the UI" post came out, I knew then and there where they left their footprint. The UI excuse was the exact same for Gears 5.
Great video and I couldn’t agree more with your points. I hope 343 is watching your content bc they NEED to be. The clear limitations of the UI, even confirmed by 343 is a bad sign for the longevity of this “live service”, “free to play” flop of a Halo game. To think of what Infinite could have been if it captured all of those initial players at launch with the standard Halo features, modes, etc. It’s sad and frustrating as a fan who has been with this epic series since CE. Btw, the duct tape metaphor is hilarious and heartbreaking bc it’s clearly true. It shouldn’t be this difficult to make changes to the game. The developers in charge of the UX/UI design and quality assurance of said design clearly needed more oversight. Sad. I hope 343 sees videos like this as opportunities to course correct bc that’s all us fans really want. Keep it up 👍
Keep speaking up these issues! For the most part it seems that we gamers who give our time and money are just seen as walking piggy banks instead of investors in the franchise. I want to keep playing the game but with the lank of content it feels like what happened with gears 5
All I have to say is 343 is incompetent. Time for someone else to take the mantle. And no, not Bungie, not even Reach Bungie. Someone with actual passion for the game. Edit: Yes, I said someone instead of a company because I'm willing to bet if you give this franchise to a singular person with real passion and love they might be able to create something amazing. You see it all the time with indie games.
@@wolfi13013 We know, we say that to prevent “343 bad but Bungie good fanboy huh” replies. We know Bungie is completely different now/has been for a while and we know they got purchased by PlayStation.
@@MediQate Bungie doesn't know how to even start a coherent story anymore. Plus Destiny 2 is one of the most unbalanced multiplayer games out there. And before someone calls me out on not playing it, I played well over a hundred hours of D1 and D2. PvE is fun, but it's very very shallow fun only goos with friends.
I'd be willing to bet that 30k people right now would drop 60+ if they just put in the crap they are holding back to drip feed into the game right now.
I really hope Season 2 is a ‘Battlefront 2’ esque update that completely revolutionises the game, brings back thousands upon thousands of players and a new spark of interest into the game. Essentially what we’re currently playing is still just a demo/beta…..
Currently Infinite needs to find its footing, if & when 343i get a hold of their content release schedule and keep things steady Halo Infinite has huge potential. Sadly we’ve just got to wait a bit for that time. Like other live service games, not all of them are excellent right off the bat. Considering the struggle Halo Infinite had during development & a global shutdown the devs are playing catch up to get things back on track.
I’ve seen braindead sympathizers try to compare Halo Infinite’s paid currency to Halo Reach’s credits system. There fans trying to gaslight other fans into thinking the game isn’t awful. Somehow a lot of the conversation around this game and its clear issues has been nearly as senseless and toxic as real world politics. Trying to talk to a satisfied Halo Infinite MP player is like talking to a self loathing brick wall. I can’t think of a single corner of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer that doesn’t have aspects that ruin the game for me as a Halo fan. I can’t imagine consistently coming back to this game. Sometimes I’ll find myself being whisked back to 2007 for a moment, but there are just so many gripes I have with it that compound and intersect with one another that it more often feels like it’s designed to be torture to play. I struggle to imagine the neurosis that must drive folks to put their actual hard earned money into this game. Great video. I wish I could go back in time and hammer these complaints and more into the minds of the right folks at 343 and Microsoft
Thank you for this amazing video. Despite the points that are being brought up are bringing to light such a sad reality of the current state of this extremely high anticipated game, this was very well articulated and I applaud and thank you. I gain no pleasure in being upset or spiteful against 343 and halo infinite, as I am an unbelievably big fan of this franchise, but it is getting tiring to wake up everyday and not see some information on this game. The only time we see a response or update about this game is usually on Twitter when a developer is commenting back against a troll. While I don’t condone the harshness and rudeness that 343 employees have been receiving at all, the anger and frustration of the community cannot be simply dubbed down to everyone being a troll. It’s sickening, So much hype, so much of a buildup…and then radio silence. Then to follow the radio silence we are greeted with another “hurry up and wait for our roadmap and plans for this game” and then radio silence again. While I am sure as well 343 is working as hard as they can, this is a ditch they dug themselves into and it is shameful. A behemoth of a game, a true titan of the industry was being resurrected and built off of “becoming Hope.” As the population numbers dwindle, sadly, I fear there is little left.
I don’t understand why they treat the progress or work in progress content that they have as some top secret material that would be a travesty if we knew about. If they just shared how things were actually going rather than having their community manager Unishrek give a half assed page of minor changes and some snarky response to how the community feedback has been and they’re working on it and will have more to share soon. Just show screenshots of stuff that we could expect and answer basic questions like “Are they going to address Theater, Custom Games, Grifball colors, hammer physics, etc.” but they don’t they’re quiet as can be and just throw Joe Staten at us like his only reason for joining is to calm the fan base with hopium and good faith.
@@MediQate exactly. I’m sure it’s still up there but if you look through Unysheks recent tweets he was responding to a person who was obviously angry saying the lack of overall content is just egregious, and Unyshek responded by saying “Always room for improvements, but don't ignore the progress: - Fiesta, Slayer, Tac Slayer added to matchmaking - Reduced Shop prices - Unbundled items in the shop - Per-match XP - Challenge improvements - Doubled the 2XP boost timer - Added more content to the Tenrai Event Pass” as if all of this is a major major improvement to the game. Is it helpful they did these things? Yes. But these were all things the community either warned them not to do or said would lead to problems. Look at Unysheks most recent tweet, acting as if he doesn’t know what the community wants for playlists for ranked. When you surround yourself with clowns you can expect a circus, it’s no wonder the community is so so angry.

great video with great point. i also love when i make valid complaints like these and fan boys will come back and be like I have no issues I love this game.
The game could have been a trend in a decent live service with always serving up new food at this buffet. But it seems it was designed to fit a standard restaurant rather than a buffet but the business model requires a live service design which we don't have. I have walked into the buffet and they only have variations of chicken. Fried, grilled and spicy. But the Mac and Cheese is in the back being cooked but it's getting delayed. And I'm waiting with an empty plate tired of chicken and wanting some succulent Mac and cheese. I'm not getting service.
I love the base fundamentals of the game but I hate that I can't make it my main multiplayer unlike previous games. I'm busy playing gears 5 and Doom Eternal for my multiplayer because those feel atleast complete experiences
Didn't 343 say in the past that the new engine, once complete would make it easier and more efficient to push out updates and hotfixes and make the overall work go faster? It seems to be the opposite
16:11 there was also that article about how they had contractors coming and going during development I know it talked about the Campaign but I think it gives some idea on what was going on with the game because their just losing all that progress cuz once one Contracter leaves someone else has to pick up the slack
Literally who cares why the game sucks. You don't go and try to find out what's happening in the kitchen of a restaurant when the food doesn't taste good, do you? When something sucks, you just say it sucks and move on. It's time for us to move on unless you can stomach the same exact gameplay for what's probably more than 3 more months
343 and MS have nothing to blame but their own ineptitude. They will never get it right. 343's top brass needs the boot. They needed the boot since H4.

It's becoming apparent that this game is potentially YEARS away from even being what Halo 3 was at launch. By that point who will care enough to jump back in except a dedicated core much like halo 5s base.

I believe it’s been slightly longer with 343 at this point. And the fact that every single one of their releases has been a swing and a miss is just embarrassing. 343’s leadership needs to be replaced or the series should get handed off to a new studio altogether. @@bigdaddynero Bungie put their employees through some hellish dev cycles to accomplish that many releases though.
Agree completely
Gotta say Fav, you've nailed down your straight-to-the-point hard-hitting commentary style so well.
Yep! Keep it up, Favyn! Absolutely on-point videos. I'm still referencing his How to Innovate Halo Without Changing its Formula video in discussions even now.
I don't buy games very much given how games are in a recession, but I was optimistic about halo infinite. I played it and I'm not very fond of it.
I think the only most recent Halo game that captivated me was Halo4. Not the most perfect game, but one of the most easy to jump in games with a lot to offer. Gameplay felt more easy to get into.

Something smells like shit. And dumbass consumers with money to burn eat it up
Halo is not a live service, it's an incomplete offering. In the end of it all, it will reflect no additional benefits from declaring itself as such.
It's not a live service because it's not a live service. The game plays fine offline. That is not a live service. Live services do nothing when they're offline. It doesn't even fit any of these dumb definitions that the video included is trying to apply to it. It's a giant flagship franchise for the Xbox and they are not making these decisions the way you think they are. It's an investment in your flagship franchise and they would do it even if it lost them money (which it did lose money for some of them that weren't as successful).
there are no benefits from "live services" to begin with
its quite good that its terrible and dying, you could have the greatest video game ever made based on an evil platform, the ends dont justify the means
@@nolef7nu7 Pretty much. Not for gamers at least. There's endless benefits for the companies to milk us with or just shut down after a few years. Agree 100%.
I'll throw in here real quick (not directed toward you personally) that something like World of Warcraft would be a live service. If you're offline in that you're not playing period because that's an actual live service and offline play doesn't even make sense to say for it.
Halo is more like DRM. It has to check in to the servers every 24 hours or something to let you play offline. That's just totally artificial BS though and doesn't make it a live service. It just gives it a bunch of the shitty downsides that live services have with none of the benefits which is for sure pretty evil
@@JamesAChambers don't forget the only reason Microsoft exists is because it taxpayer subsidies btw. @@nolef7nu7 Only seeing this now, but you're so right. If it's F2P then all buyers of the game got shafted. The campaign is not worth the price of entry alone.
I was so confused why infinite was getting praised so much upon release seeing how the open world was empty, no game modes, no forge, broken btb and several other things. It seems the honey moon phase is over because now I'm seeing all the criticism it deserved being spoken out.
Because they brought back the artstyle the fanboys liked. If halo 4 and 5 had halo 3s classic art style it wouldn't have gotten as much hate I bet.
@@Vashkey Like I said it has everything to do with art style. Also 343 was building up good trust with the way they handled MCC and the way they worded stuff with the dev blogs.
I see a lot of love for the Campaign, it's just the multiplayer not living up to promises
My first "Live Service Game" was Black Ops Cold War last year. Every month either a new weapon, map, game mode, or limited time set of challenges was added to the game *for free* . Its BP updated every few months as well (I only bought 2 of them). I honestly expected Infinite to be on par or Better than an Activision experience.... *but here we fucking are*
I'll be honest as a zombs player it still sucks.
Fortnite had it right the first time. So funny how every game that came out after it managed to fuck it up so hard.

Then Microsoft/343 decide to say that they're "experimenting" with MTX, but there shouldn't be any experimenting if they claim they're "listening", simply take what the community says and implement it, no twisting things. Game should've been delayed another year or two. I can't even imagine what this game would be like if they stuck with that July reveal release date.
@@Josh-si6ds 343 defenders are pitiful at this point. Remember when the real beta was "Just a Technical Preview!!" and then the "beta" was the actual game?
I think 343 has disappointed me for the last time. Who knew halo 5 would be a masterpiece compared to it's successor that's been given double the time.
it really took 6 years to release a game that’s basically still in beta, wtf was 343 doing?
With all of it’s technical problems like the desync, netcode errors, and the cheating, this feels more like an alpha.
Doesn’t feel like a proper halo game anymore
Same they've done to varying levels of disaster. Release an unfinished and rushed product.
Literally, 3 chances to make a good halo game with 4 or more good examples of one and they failed again. Even after feedback from the two previous titles they still failed. Its ridiculous and embarassing. What in the actual fuck is 343 doing.
@@phoevo8898 4 looks like a master piece compared to 5 and Infinite. They got the Banished story right but everything else fails. The endless story abd lack of Infiniti and supporting characters from previous games also fails.
When it comes to Halo, at this point I'm done with compromising. I either get the full, proper Halo package day 1 or I'm not getting anything, since I can just spend my money elsewhere.
They obviously can't handle it, and they clearly don't understand what a live service game is
By the time Infinite gets as a respectable amount of content, Bungie would have released two good games with that development time.
They should be relieved of Halo development duties but will Microsoft actually pull the trigger? A man can dream but I’m not holding my breath…
I feel like removing Infinite from 343 would do more harm than good right now, the story of the campaign is going in a good direction, I'd rather not have a new studio come in and completely 180 it. I do agree though that 343 needs a management shakeup at the very least.
12-18 months? LOL!!!!!! very hopefully! try 10 years!
Playing "Heavy Price Paid" over this video is just perfect.

Its not 2008. Halo has serious competition nowadays. They basically made halo 3.5 the gameplay is clearly a regression to halo 3
@@manz7860 Sure as hell doesn’t FEEL like 3. Nice try though, equipment and... guns?? Are the only similarities. And the classic artstyle but that’s not relevant to how gameplay feels.

Bro you're killing it lately, you finally got the exposure you deserve
It needed to be delayed another year and they needed to double their staff at 343. You can tell they don’t have enough staff

It’s a shame you can’t replay specific campaign missions without using different save files. Or the lack of campaign co-op. And the fact that BTB never works. And how playing ranked gets old so fast.
You just get it man the problems with this game a lot of people didnt talk about or just are blinded by the good gameplay
There is only like 4 weapons I enjoy playing with
@@bombomos
Most of the weapons are very good but gimmicky, being good and powerful but having to be used a specific way to reach their max potential.
For all the outsourcing that 343 has been doing, you would’ve expected them to build a solid set of tools for the community to do their job.
I genuinely believe that if Infinite was 60 dollars, the devs would have changed nothing from what it is now as a F2P

Spot on analysis once again, Favyn. I have a lot of friends who insist that adopting the free to play model and going down the live service route was the best thing for Halo because it "brings in more players." My response always boils down to this: "Sure, it might lower the barrier of entry enough to bring in record player numbers at first, but simultaneously it has also clearly lowered the quality and quantity of content in a way that causes record _drops_ in player numbers as well."
So ultimately what you're left with is an incredibly high initial peak that quickly plummets, before stabilizing at levels far before its competition and more importantly, the Halos of old.

How on earth did 343 have the brains to make "grassroots partners" and then not include them in this new game. if there's one thing 343i did right, it's convincing people that this game was gonna be good before it came out
they made a good primary gameplay loop for a generic fps game that feels somewhat like halo, made some stuff look kind of like halo, then said "ok that's enough intelligent design choices, let's get to work on making the fucking bazaar map from call of duty as part of our 8 map roster"

halo thought they were about to pull an apex with the unexpected release live service free to play.. the difference is apex was a brand new title with a brand new first person battle royale with great gun mechanics that a ton of gamers were waiting on for years with fortnite popularity. apex players stuck it through the rough period bc there was no history with the title and everyone understood its gonna take a little time to get off its feet and it did. halo is much different being one of the first major fps with a long history of content, its really mind-blowing how bad they are screwing this up. its like they would rather have a big turnaround story than a big success story

Just a reminder: Halo 5 had Campaign and MP for 60$ AND free content updates. REQ Packs were kinda weird since they were RNG but unlockable by playing or by investing money.
Keep it up 👍
This single video sums up everything I've ever had to say about Halo Infinite. Well done.
I was giving up on studying and about to fall asleep. What timing!
Bungie cant even take up the mantle even if they wanted to. Haven't you heard the news?
@@wolfi13013 We know, we say that to prevent “343 bad but Bungie good fanboy huh” replies. We know Bungie is completely different now/has been for a while and we know they got purchased by PlayStation.
There is a reason I have referred to them as 343 Incompetencies for many years now.
@@wolfi13013 And even if they could Bungie is not what it used to, just look at the dumpster fire Destiny has become
In school rn hyped to watch after
- edit just watched and have to say, good work Favyn!
Very great video. Strongly agree with most of these points and it's great for people giving their opinions publicly so changes can happen.
I’m sure it’s still up there but if you look through Unysheks recent tweets he was responding to a person who was obviously angry saying the lack of overall content is just egregious, and Unyshek responded by saying “Always room for improvements, but don't ignore the progress:
- Fiesta, Slayer, Tac Slayer added to matchmaking
- Reduced Shop prices
- Unbundled items in the shop
- Per-match XP
- Challenge improvements
- Doubled the 2XP boost timer
- Added more content to the Tenrai Event Pass” as if all of this is a major major improvement to the game.
@@IndestructibleXx1 "you look through Unysheks recent tweets he was responding to a person" sorry but how is that not a major problem? The community isn't just Twitter, Reddit, or whatever current platform is and we shouldn't have to dig through multiple sites to piece together information.
@@buffaloSoldier519 yeah this isn’t some huge investigation but they treat it like it is. Completely oblivious and not caring. Disgusting community managers and horrible company.
I already gave up on this game and you're entirely right, had the game launched with forge, file sharing, and a pre game lobby I definitely would have stayed playing
Agree 100%. Thanks for making this. Hopefully some one at 343 sees this
great video with great point. i also love when i make valid complaints like these and fan boys will come back and be like I have no issues I love this game.
I do not understand those people at all. How can they not look back at what we used to get in halo and not feel cheated?
"You are a service game, but with bad customer service" So true... 👏
guess we know why it took them so long to provide any details on the game....they didnt have anything to show
The game could have been a trend in a decent live service with always serving up new food at this buffet.
They did say that and it was pure delusion and cope.
Another Favyn video??! Dam, this is like having a birthday after your birthday :D
