Busy travelling and starting a new business I was really not much around over the last two months or so, now back, new channel, new guitar... congrats for both... 👏👏👏👏
Really cool! As a side note, your main channel is your brand, but YOU are your brand - I really love the idea of us getting a peak into the Tom behind the Buck on this channel! It's so clear everything you and Heather do comes from the heart, so really appreciate everything you put out.
Thanks Kane! This is a fun project for me, and I'm happy that others enjoy it too! I love the "big" channel of course, but I don't want to risk hurting what I've built by throwing a wrench in to the works (in this case the wrench being unrelated videos).
DUDE!!! I gotta say...this is totally *RAD!!!* It's *BEAUTIFUL* - now....I think I'm gonna paint my guitar.... *seriously* my *favorite* color!!! I never even *thought* of my favorite color guitar... 🧐
Have you ever heard of Warmoth? You can piece together your own custom guitar from the ground up and you can have them finish it, or you can get the raw materials and do it all yourself. I've never done it, but I've always wanted to.
Thanks! I'm excited too- it's a really good chance to just have some fun and use/experiment with my gear in a different way. Most of this was filmed with the GoPro10, and it was so fun! I learned a lot about that camera over the weeks of making this.
@@TOMBUCK2 You might not get notified of this comment but I have to ask anyway...was some of the footage shot with the RED camera? After seeing the test footage on Heathers vlogs, I thought some of the footage here was similar looking...there's a "smoothness" to it... And wow, I never would have guessed that most footage was from the GoPro...it matches up with your in-studio, talking head shots ...which I assume was shot with one of the Sony's?
..i don't know yet play guitar, but i bought a while ago, 3..one electric, one acoustic and one classic..all have incorporated tuning, and output for amplifier..was my first contact with audio .. I like a lot diy ! Best time for painting however, is when it is not windy and dry hot shadow.. I I like lime color a lot! I searched on google translator, and yeah, i believe it is greenhouse, but small, where wind don't affect result..like car painting.. a tip for next time project, sand between layers. ..this is just being picky..lol..it turned out great!
I've seen the little greenhouse things and they seem nifty. I wasn't too worried about perfection here though. And don't worry, there was a lot of sanding that I didn't film 😁
i love tom videos especially ones that aren't just technical but now theres an entire channel for that 🥳🥳 congrats! 🥳🥳 btw the guitar looks incredible!
I've honestly never done a project WITH this kind of patience before. It was weird to work for an hour adding some coats of finish and then feeling like, "welp that's all for today, back at it tomorrow."
Too fun! I love process videos like this. Your painting and sanding rigs were pretty elegant solutions to use stuff you already have for a new purpose. Here's to more like this!
I think newer Squier stuff is supposed to be really nice (like the quality of MIM Fenders from 15 years ago), but this one definitely wasn't the best when I got it 😁
Nice! I’ll love this channel too! :) Also, perfect starter for me. :D I had a Squier (Jazz bass) as a first one reeeeally long time ago, so I had some nice memories came up. Thanks for that! :D
Too many guitar wizards say tone comes from good electronics and the players style & hands. So you actually did make a good economic move repurposing an old junker than buying a $1,000+ super strat. I’m jealous of this project. One day I will follow your lead. I do wish you had scrapped squire off and stenciled on “Enthused” or “Buck.”
I actually did buy the paper to do water decals and thought about painting the headstock to match with a cusTOM logo, but I wasn't exactly sure what to make it say 🤔
Love the video! Hearing the guitar reminded me of my friends guitar in hischool (2000-2004) Good times haha pretty crazy how much time has past since then. Keep it up Tom!
This is really cool Tom, I was wondering if you were going to document this after seeing the stories on your IG. I am happy to be sub number 65 and see where you go on this channel! I love seeing the vlog side of Tom Buck!
@@TOMBUCK2 dude, you've got the chops. seriously.. play for friends, play for Heather, play for your channel, smile, and enjoy it. Everybody else will as well!
Haha, I'm not quite that clever, I just didn't know I was going to make a video about it when I started so I though, "Oh shoot I only have a few phone pictures!" 🤦🏻♂️
Hey Tom! It’s been awhile I zapped through YT and today I saw Heather’s community post and watched this entire vlog of yours 🙃 Subbed and curious what you will share in the future. I wanted to send you and Heather an email, but somehow that got postponed due to job applications and family duties 😅 But I will do it next week, since I have a week off now.
I'M SO PROUD OF YOU FOR MAKING THIS!! THE VLOG AND THE GUITAR!! You amaze me! 🤩🥳💜👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My first comment! 🥰

Using a crumbled brown paper bag to sand lacquer in between coats works wonders. Great job!!!
Ooh that's an awesome tip!
That's so awesome... Great job! 😎
Also excited for more videos to trickle in over here!

Smiling from ear to ear watching this. Great to see such a beautiful guitar brought back to life.
PS: I'm subscriber #91!
Thank you! Glad you're here- we're getting close to that custom URL at 100 😁
A labour of love … great job
So awesome that you started another channel! I was smiling throughout this whole video, totally made my day!
Thanks Leo! Fun to do different things just for the heck of it.
Awesome Sauce! 👊🏽
Thank you Mr. Junkie!

The guitar looks fantastic you did an absolutely amazing Job!
Thanks Josh! I still can't believe it worked. It feels like a "real" guitar.

Thank Dominick!
Great work! I don't have this kind of patience. I LOL'd at the Ibanez plate... it's Frankenstein's Guitar!

Thank you sir!
Very cool!
It turned out great Tom!!!
Thank you! I'm pretty impressed with the results!
Fun video! I bought a Fender Squier Strat back in the 1980s. Too bad I sold it long ago -- this looks like a great way to bring one back to life!
I think newer Squier stuff is supposed to be really nice (like the quality of MIM Fenders from 15 years ago), but this one definitely wasn't the best when I got it 😁
Congrats on the new channel!! Really like the video
Thanks Sammy!
Nice! I’ll love this channel too! :)

Awesome! I've been looking at some of the new Squier basses and they seem super cool these days.
That guitar just went from $90 to priceless. Nice work!
As long as "priceless" isn't a synonym for "worthless" 😁
I love fun projects and DIY stuff. Nice job with the video and great idea with the 2nd/casual channel. Just subscribed.
Thanks John! "Casual" is a good adjective.

Wow. That looks dope as hell.
Thanks so much!
Love the video! Hearing the guitar reminded me of my friends guitar in hischool (2000-2004) Good times haha pretty crazy how much time has past since then.
Keep it up Tom!
That's definitely the era I learned to play and a lot of my favorite songs are frozen in that time 😁
Damn. That looks so so cool. I have a custom walnut guitar that needs some color.
I was hoping you'd play it a little. 🤘😎
I’m embarrassed 😬
@@TOMBUCK2 don't be. It was awesome!!!

Thanks Ash! It's nice to have an excuse to just goof around with videos.
Dude, amazing work. Beautiful guitar but even more impressed w/ the tunes! Loved hearing those songs. Keep vlogging Tom!
Thanks so much Sean! I always get stage fright playing music where anyone else can hear it 😁
@@TOMBUCK2 dude, you've got the chops. seriously.. play for friends, play for Heather, play for your channel, smile, and enjoy it. Everybody else will as well!
Love this "secret" channel. The beginning makes me think that you are distributing the Tiktok content on other platforms!
Haha, I'm not quite that clever, I just didn't know I was going to make a video about it when I started so I though, "Oh shoot I only have a few phone pictures!" 🤦🏻♂️
Wow what a work invested, I can relate to this 😎😏, great to see you playing it!
It's a lot of fun! I didn't realize how much thinner and lighter it is than a regular Strat. Feels like a toy, but sounds amazing!
I love that you used Blink for the humbucker demo. Looks great!
I love them. So much.
Vlog!!
Great job on the guitar!
Thank you! It looks so nice with the studio lights shining on it 😁
Sir, you are freaking champion
Haha, thank you sir!
I took 2 years of guitar lessons when I was in college and still can't play 🤣. Great work Tom!
I've been playing for 21 years almost and I probably sound more like 21 months 😁
More Tom Buck 😊👌🏻
Good Job Tom!
Thanks Jason!

Come for the Tom. Stay for the Blink.
Nice
Well done Tom. Hmmmmmmm....would be an interesting channel name if your name was Tim :-)
That is my uncle's name and it's hilarious to me.
This video is clearly sponsored by green spray paint. ;-)
Ahh, you got me! I'm deep in the pockets of Big Pigment.
