MAGANDANG ARAW, KURT! Another truly interesting and entertaining vlog. It was very nice of Calvin Castiel to show you around Farmers Market in Cubao. We’ve been away from the Philippines for too long and we haven’t heard of the Dampa sa Farmers Market. So many things have changed and that is such a unique and ingenious way of dining adventure that will surely satisfy your cravings. Farmer’s Market has been delivering the highest quality and freshest produce at a very reasonable price. This vibrant and bustling market is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts and travelers seeking a unique gastronomic experience. With its diverse array of seafoods, fresh produce, specialty foods, and mouth-watering delicacies, Farmers Market in Cubao is a true food lover’s paradise. We’re living vicariously through your video. Thank you for virtually taking us to Dampa. We really enjoyed watching it! Your avid twin viewers from Illinois, Josephine and Jocelyn
Hi, KURT! If we could try any seafood from this video, we would definitely choose Garlic Butter Shrimp and Adobong Pusit. And if there were leftovers, we could turn the Garlic Butter Shrimp into a tasty Shrimp Pasta dish, just add some pasta noodles, some herbs, spices and a squeeze of lemon. Same with the Adobong Pusit, we could make a savory Spanish Black Rice (Paella Negra) out of it. Just pour the Adobong Pusit sauce to a bowl of garlic rice, put a litlle bit of tomato paste, Aioli sauce, red pepper and saffron, then garnish it with scallions and slices of squid. The secret to a delectable culinary masterpiece isn’t complexity, but versatility! 👍👍

HI, KURT! In case you’re curious what DAMPA means and where the word came from. It refers to a primitive structure, often a small and roughly built hut, shack or a type of STILT COTTAGE BY THE SEA SHORE (dalampasigan in Tagalog), commonly built by Moro people of Mindanao. Their typical livelihood is to catch fish, and sell them fresh or as cooked seafood. Hence, the word “DAMPA” derived from the word “DALAMPASIGAN” (sea shore in English).
Magandang araw @tagalogkurt. WOW! You can't stop licking and sucking your fingers because of the garlic butter shrimp. I would do the same, for sure. Kapag bumibisita kami sa bahay ng isang tao, madalas kong marinig ang salitang 'Tuloy po kayo sa aming munting dampa'. (Welcome to our humble home). The real essence of "Dampa" transcends its modern culinary association. Traditionally, "Dampa" signifies a simple, rustic abode, often a hut or shack, that embodies the essence of Filipino humility, simplicity, and warmth. It's a place that evokes a sense of community and belonging, where people gather not just to eat, but to share stories, create memories, and foster connections. The traditional "dampa" is a symbol of a modest yet rich lifestyle, rooted in the values of togetherness, hospitality, and an appreciation for the straightforward, unembellished joys of life. Suddenly, I remembered the beautiful song 'Ang Aking Kubo' by Gary Granada.
Hi Kuya Kurt! If I could join you for that seafood feast, I'd go for Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu (Grouper fish), Tinolang Halaan (Ginger Soup with Clams), and Gambas al Ajillo-Spanish Garlic Shrimp served in a rich, garlic-infused olive oil with a touch of smoky paprika and sweet notes from sherry.

Have just started watching, but I really need to correct the pronunciation of dampa. It should be dam-PA'. Accent on the 2nd syllable and pronounced quickly. That's actually the common pronunciation mistake i notice in foreigners learning Tagalog. They usually get the accent wrong. Like with the word salamat. Most of them put the accent in the 3rd syllable when it should be in the 2nd - saLA'-mat.
Pusit is also pronounced poo-SIT'... That kind of market is called a wet market or "palengke" in Tagalog and is found in every city and municipality. Most are public wet makets, so they are managed to some extent by the government... Dampa restaurants can also be found throughout Metro Manila. Most just have a smaller area where they sell the fresh seafoods with just one restaurant, while some have bigger ones with more restaurants.
@@Danzer1282 if we remember it correctly, Kurt mentioned on his Facebook post a while ago that the total cost of the meal was around 2,500 pesos ($44).

Hahahaha oy!
dad jokes from si kuya Kurt
Ok stay away in Zamboanga cotobato Muslim place there
