Thank you for trying Filipino food. If you noticed, the server gave you a couple of dipping sauces for each dish. Bagoong goes with Kare-Kare, the calamansi, soy sauce with chili is for the sisig. Patisserie usually goes with sinigang and soy sauce with vinegar goes with crispy Pata
Mahusay kang mag salita ng wikang tagalog, Kurt! Salamat sa iyong pagtangkilik sa pagkaing Filipino (Thanks for patronizing the Filipino food). Ang Manam na iyong kina-inan ay nasa Uptown Mall, BGC Taguig. Thank you for choosing the Philippines!
As a Californian that’s hella cheap! Crispy pata here alone is $20; that’s just 1 dish. And you ordered 5 ulam plus rice and 2 desserts. You did well for approx $50 for all that! 😋
Hi Kuya Kurt, pinanood kong buo and video mo, na-miss ko tuloy masyado ang Pinas lalo na mga foods. God bless you with more subscribers, success and good health.
Subscribed! Watched 5 of your videos in one sitting before I subscribed. Your tagalog is very good even though you're a foreigner. Happy to have you here in the philippines. Salamat sa pag appreciate sa Filipino cuisine ❤️ Mabuhay Kuya Kurt!
I am so late watching your videos in the Philippines! I started watching you when you were learning Tagalog even before you visited the Philippines. It just didn’t come out in my feed even if I’m subscribed till now. You are so fun as in I wanna be your friend 😂😂😂 Will binge-watch your vids! So happy you made it there. Wish you could experience the Philippines at Christmas and New Year. Manila (Makati, BGC) is so lit during those times. 🇵🇭
Watching in Hongkong you caught my attention ehen im scrolling my you tube na tuwa ako ng marinig kita na nag tagalog so amaze that an american guy is speak fluent in tagalog wow have fun ang enjoy eating our Pilipino cuisine
one of my favorites is kare kare which is eaten all together with rice and little of that salted shrimp paste and it's heaven to me. thanks, ehh that's make me hungry.
With tons of food on your table not to mention your eating in bgc the bill is reasonable and it's almost the same price eating on other fine resto of manila
Natawa ako nung lumabas ang crispy pata. :) I love Manam. Can't wait to go home and eat there and Mary Grace and my daily taho! Also I eat some of the ice cream first and the leche flan before mixing the halo halo.
I wish I was there with you. Helping you out with the food. The Bagoong goes with the Kare-Kare, its definitely a game changer if you eat Kare-Kare. The Bagoong does make the magic on the dish. Yummy!!! 😋😋😋😋❤❤❤
Glad you got to eat in the restaurant. Manam is one of my family’s favorite restos in ‘Pinas. Faves are pancit palabok (with the piping hot sauce pouring on noodles presentation), pusit with ink sauce, any pork dish ❤ Miss ko na sila 😋 🍽️🍛💛♥️💙
kurt, kare kare is my favorite side dish to eat with fresh cooked rice with a little dab of that suited shrimp paste. you are making everyone watching hungry. thanks for sharing your dinning experience with us, and very simple describing each side dish as you go along. God bless and Merry Christmas.
As a person who is learning another language as well (Spanish), all i can say it is mentally draining having to think hard and translate in a second language. I don't know if anyone else can relate. I'm not complaining cause it is SOO worth it when locals understand me and continue to converse with me in their language. But i understand when you mention how you have to think hard when speaking.
100%. It's very mentally draining for me to try to speak to the camera, keep things in frame, keep the conversation going, eat the food, and interact in Tagalog 😂😂😂😭
It's nice to watch a while guy with so much food on the table talking to himself.....wow, never seen ice cream drip on a turon. On the halo2, I prefer eating the ube ice cream and the leche flan by itself, maybe because back in the60's, my school allowance can only afford a regular halo2, no ice cream or flan, that's special. Never had turon with ice cream either. I'm ok with the SM turon. For your culinary quest, i suggest you go to Pampanga. Most of what you ate came from Pampanga, just a 2hr bus ride north of Manila🙂
Hi Kurt. Great video!! The Kare Kare is An Oxtail Peanut Stew. Now, Kare Kare has a strong peanut butter taste because of the peanut butter but rather bland at the same time. What enhances the flavour of Kare Kare is the Bagoong (Femented Shrimp Paste) . It’s a good way to add some “umami saltiness” to the dish depending how salty you want it to be. (It’s better than using salt or Patis (Fish Sauce) )I know for me when I eat Kare Kare with a plate of rice, I add about half a teaspoon of bagoong and mix it all together. It is just the right amount of saltiness for me.
Thank you for speaking our language. I subscribed right away appreciating you for that. I guess i will need to try Manam when i come home and visit. Btw, prices over there are still cheaper than here in the states. And I’m sure the food is way tastier too. I’m glad u seem like you enjoyed all the dishes that u ordered. Take care Kurt and thanks again for trying and embracing Philippines ❤️
Dear Kurt, I have never supported an expat doing a food vlog who couldn't quite articulate what a puto/puto pao, siopao and a lomi is yet here I am since you're an off the beaten path kinda guy and ai love that. Reach out to me when you gastronomic adventures bring you to Mindanao. I will do the best I can to help you out and show you around Region 10 and the neighboring regions. Cheers dude! 🥳
Ay yay yay!!! Me yelling at the screen saying “Squeeze the calamansi on the sisig ang it will be 10 out of 10!” And I was on the edge of my seat whether he is going to use a tiny bit of bagoong on the Kare Kare! Ugh! Nakaka-frustrate, haha! Sana naman the Kuya Manam staff explained properly how to eat the dishes!
@@miguelsantos8196 Kaya nga di ba. There’s a reason we have those dipping sauces and we squeeze calamansi on certain dishes. Calamansi cuts through the fat and the bagoong balances the richness of the Kare Kare. Sana restaurant staff be trained to explain lalo na sa mga non-Pinoys.
About the take out, it’s true haha! I hate sisig on takeout, sisig becomes too soggy. If there’s chicharon in sisig, it’s going to be bad when it arrives to your home, it’s no longer crispy and crunchy. Sisig is best when served right in front of you in the restaurant.
Karen kare is as a stew using peanut as a sauce. Add shrimp paste or bagoong to compliment your karekare. Just a pinch or small dip. It is more of a condiment for the kare kare. So nice to see you enjoying
Hey Tagalog Kurt! I was just gonna watch the beginning and move on, but saw your request so I’m going to play in full and multi task on my new Tshirt designs. Keep up with the great content! I know how much work it is! 💯 Supporter!
Just finished the video, i was salivating! Im seriously getting ideas for my next Filipino Foodie shirt, thanks for being an inspiration; and yes, you’re channel is going to seriously blow up!
Morr power Kurt. New subscriber here. You ordered so much 😊😊😊 just for yourself. Thank you for promoting Filo food. Pag uwi ko Pinas, punta ako Manam. 😊😊😊
halo halo shaved ice, evaporated milk, beans red and yellow sweetend banana, kamote or sweet potato, ube halaya and lecheflan sometimes it has jackfruit kare-kare you have to put the shrimp paste with the rice and sauce,
That short video of yours with your brother it seems? With the Mentos music is the best....got me to follow you....impressive at best....could / should merit an advertising award!....following from New Jersey! Godspeed!
New subscriber here. I love your videos! honest and your authenticity, kind personality is giving off cool vibes! Thank you for sharing some of the simple life in the Philippines, we needed that reminder once in a while. All the best! ❤🙏
Kare kare is ox tail, and beef tripe stewed in peanut buttter, with a variety of veggies like egg plants, napa cabbage, string beans, banana heart, and it is served with baguong/ premented shrimp paste of the side. Kare kare can also be a mixed seafood.
I LOVE manam! I tried this for the first time last year and ever since i got back from here in the US, I have been craving it non stop. Anyway if you’re headed to batangas, it’s a must you try batangas lomi and batangas goto, A MUST. Lmao
The Kare-kare is to die for. You were supposed to sprinkle it with a little bit of bagoong to make it tastier. It is one of my Filipino fav dishes. Yummy!
Kurt I love the reviews you should do more and share filipino foods never heard of watermelon singalong but it sounds good I'll make a mental note to go to that restaurant you went thank you for taking the time to review the foods we offer as a filipino
kuya kurt ang dami nyan..😅 sana all..❤ yung kare kare pala ang pagkain nyan dapat lagyan mo ng konting shrimp paste para mag halo yung lasa ng tamis ng kare kare at alat ng bagoong o shrimp paste.. the best iyon pag halo na yung lasa.
Just recently discovered your channel and truly enjoying your vlogs. 👍🏼👍🏼 My family was in Manila for a few days for layover. We tried Manam restaurant, and we were so impressed with our lunch that we decided to go back for dinner. We heard about it through food reviews on the internet. So glad to hear that you enjoyed all the food you ordered. We also tried Abe’s restaurant at the Mall of Asia, and it was really good, too! We didn’t have time to go to Pampanga where Abe’s farm is located, but hope you get to go someday. I heard so many great reviews about it. Take care and God bless. 🥰
Your videos are fun to watch, and you speak Tagalog very well. Here's a quick hack to do it even better: Most words have the accent on the last syllable.
Kuya Kurt, you speak good Tagalog and i love watching you enjoy your Filipino meal. I promise to support your channel. Keep enjoying. Life is beautiful.
Manam is fusion of Filipino dishes. And fusion dishes becomes expensive because of how they present the food in an artful way. It’s more of a taste-test-size dishes. But the food are amazing. I love the bangus sisig but it used to be the mikfish fat but I’m not sure if they still have it. But I’ve tried other dishes like kare-kare, and crispy pancit palabok. I've been watching for quite some time and after the vid I just noticed that I'm not subscribed yet. I thought I already did that before. So, there.... subscribed!
Instead of beef salpicao, I hoped the waiter suggested you try their caramelized patis wings instead. You had three beef entry 😅 But I'm glad you enjoyed your beef salpicao.

Nice vlog. Seemed you enjoyed the food. If you need to explore a bit more of MOA, or a bit more of the Tagalog language, let me know. I stay near the vicinity and can show you around. Enjoy!
🧡🧡🧡The food is perfect for sharing. Sayang mag-isa ka lang. You can try some of the ice cream or leche flan on its own too before mixing it all together.
Guys can you watch the whole video and like and comment so I can afford this meal 😂❤ ANG MAHAL!
Uptown Mall 😊
Ok Sir Kurt
Oo, salamat, bagong subscriber mo.
😂😂😂
The bagoong is shrimp paste not fish, that is eaten with the kare kare
Kuya Kurt, the way you are using your utensils, already shows you are becoming Filipino.
Bagoong (sauteed shrimp paste) is for the kare-kare. You need to place a bit of it to your spoonful of rice with kare-kare
Agreed! Kare-kare tastes way better with the bagoong!
Thank you for loving the phillipines defenitely filipinos will support you back in so many ways.

Hi Kurt, my son introduced you to us. He loves your Chanel. Hope to meet you. We will be in the Manila soon.
I've got to try Manam next time I’m back in Manila. Be well!

wow ang sarap po lahat yan kuya Kurt.

We normally eat steamed rice with sinigang and bulalo or nilagang baka. You can also try Gerry's grill cheaper but also good. Liked and commented 😂

LECHON PAKSIW is also my favorite. I guess you can find it at a LECHON restaurant like Rico’s or Lydia’s Lechon.
