- Demonstrating how to make a net and build a baited spring net trap that can be used to catch a range of animals and birds.
I think net making is a great skill to have and has many uses such as... Fishing nets, Catch poles, Hammocks, bags and net traps alike.
A bonus of a net trap is that usually, its a live catch trap.
If you catch a critter that your not interested in? It gives you the option to release it!?
I hope you enjoy my video

The best net making video and demonstration I've ever seen ... and have been waiting for this one since you mentioned it the other day Andy . No true survivor is knowledgeable without the knowledge of nets for traps and fishing .
1000 thumbs up and thanks very much .
Thanks Lefty, muchly appreciated brother
Great job Andy. That net is a functional work of art! Looks like it would be relaxing to make too. Thanks for the how-to video!
Thanks Jen, it's always quiet rewarding at the end making something like this. Very relaxing and calming to.
Thank you for watching and take care
This is pure genius. Many a pheasant or partridge could be harvested this way. The clear explanation and excellent photography are icing on the cake. Much thanks for posting this innovative idea.
Definitely one of the best survival channels I've watched.
Cheers dude... appreciate it brother
I’m making a series of triggers for different style of training. Your net making and trigger set are very well shown in your video. I’m using your and others trap making styles to teach my grand children the art so they can have a chance to survive. Good job on your work.
its the only net making video i ever seen!
One of the best demonstrations I’ve ever seen, brilliant job mate
Nice. Thanks for the video. I learned quite a bit!
Always wondered how these worked. Great video!
Seen many many trap videos on YT. For one reason or other I find this video to be the best I've seen. Thank you.
Best design I've seen.
Brilliant.
Thanks for watching bro
Fantastic demo Andy!
Loved the net making part especially. You should do more trap videos.
Thanks,
Conrad
Cheers Conrad, muchly appreciated brotha..
Iv got a few more trap demos coming up and I'm helping a friend clear his farm of rabbits over the next few months, so I'll have a few rabbit sharing/ hunting videos coming up to.
Thanks for watching and have a great weekend
I want you on my apocalypse team.
And I want to be on that team!!
When the zombies come, I'll be eaten alive out hear all by myself.
Thanks for watching brotha
:D What's the biggest animal you could catch with a net of that size? Could you nab a small deer? Big Rabbit? Honestly not sure what a net this size is supposed to target.
Iv only ever caught wood pigeon in them. Their a fair sized bird tho.
Make the net to the size of the critter your trying to catch.
Ah cool. What do you use as bait for them?
I used sliced pieces of corn on the cob.
I'd push the trigger stick through the centre.
Iv used the same bait to catch rabbits and squirrels to, just in a different type trap.
Thanks bud
Cracking little film that fella. You did a great job of describing the skills and techniques 👍
Atb Rick n Billydog
This is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing! Perhaps now I can trap and relocate the raccoon that has been obsessed with my strawberry plants.
I enjoy all the videos you've been making. Lots of good info. Thanks for everything.
Glad your enjoying my videos. Take care brotha
Absolutely solid video.
Superb, thank you.
ATB, Steve
Thanks Steve, muchly appreciated brotha.
Cheers,
Andy
bloody excellent Andy ! a good easy to follow demonstration , great video mate ,
Cheers Malc, appreciate it brotha.
I'm helping a friend with some pest control on his farm over the next few months.
Ill be mainly snaring and shooting, but I made one of them box traps you did a video on last week. I'm guna make a few more and test them out. See if I can catch some rabbits with them.
Be a good opportunity to practace this trap again to. It's been years since Iv caught oat with a net trap.
Thanks for watching Malc and have a good weekend bro
another cracking vid mate well done, im never to old to learn.
That's it brotha.
Thanks for watching and take care John
It's a really nice trap. I'll need to try making one. And that's a nice quick way to make a net with having to carve a needle and gauge first. Thanks for filming, Andy
Thanks Andy, let me know how it goes.
Yeah, it's a much more simplified way to make nets.
Years back, I use to make alot of purse nets for ferreting with the method of using a needle, gauge, spacer and steel hoops, but towards the end, just started making them like I did in this video. Basic is best in my opinion.
Thanks for watching and take care buddy
wow, this video is exactly what I wanted. Thank you!!
You should have your own TV show Andy, tips like these are lost in today's age for all the wrong reasons.
Thank for sharing
Pete
That's real kind of you Pete, thank you.
Sad truth, but they'll always be us few that keep the skills alive.
Cheers for watching brotha and you have a great weekend
Really interesting!
Excellent!! Thank you Andy! I think I'm going to try this at home for bunnies.
Thanks Ralph.
I think it'll work well on the bunnies... Let me know how it goes if you do.
Iv only ever set it for and caught wood pigeon in them.
I'm helping a friend with some pest control on his farm over the next few months. I'm looking forward to testing it out on the rabbits tho.
Thanks for watching and take care my friend
Never saw the net circle weaved thats genius!
You are the king sr thank You so much this is Awesome 😃🤯👍...i wont to learn this..... time to practice 😃
Oh wow, that is one simple yet brilliant design! But would it be legal? hmmmm I guess I'd better get to googling...
Yet again another great video andy mate enjoyed it you put it across in away that's easy to follow so thanks for that atb jimmy 😎 😎
Cheers Jimmy.
Thanks for watching brotha
Excellent video! Great and clear instructions.
Cheers Bill.
Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much. It’s a great video looking forward to see you soon
Great job on the video lots of hard work this video was a first for me on the net building enjoyed it and GOD Bless
Glad you enjoyed it brotha.
Thank you and God bless
Awesome video, thanks for sharing bro
I’m going to do a human one!
Well put together buddy, that’s a nice touch weaving around the edges of the net. Thanks for sharing the different methods for the spring. The question is should a ready made net like this be one of those essential carry items.
I think so, cheers Andy
Thanks brotha.
It's a useful bit of kit.
A few nights ago I made a 1m x 4m gill net. Minus the stones to weigh it down, it hardally weighs oat and compresses into my flask mug. I never store anything in there, so it doesn't take up any room. Could be cut down to make 8 traps if need be?
Guna try and catch a fish with it at the weekend.
Thanks for watching and take care bro
Real Cool Video
Best explanation i have ever seen so far
Thank U 👍👍👍
Greetings from Vienna Austria
Very kind brother. Thank you and stay safe
So basically what you’re saying lol is that [this] takes forever. Got it.
j/k cool video brother! I’m from Alabama and I wasn’t even familiar with this. Very educational and effective man. Thanks for the great content. Subscribing!
Good video content and well presented and demonstrated bud, spot on 👍🏻🇬🇧
Cheers Paul, appreciate it.
Hope your well brotha.
Thanks for watching
Clan Gunn Bushcraft All good mate and take care, this is troubled times were living in nowadays 👍🏻🇬🇧
Great video well explained
Cheers William, glad you enjoyed it brotha.

Good trap thanks for ur hard work and time into it
Very helpful indeed .
Cheers Garrett. Glad you enjoyed it buddy
Nice video
Good one ! ! ! !
Awesome very good job!
Cheers Peter, muchly appreciated brotha.
Thanks for watching
Good job good video
Thanks Garrett
Excellant Sir. Thank you.
Thanks for watching buddy
nice work mate, same idea as the rabbit purse nets i make
Thanks David, thats awesone, you got ferrets?
It is basically a purse net on a spring.
The very reason I learnt net making was from back in the day ferreting the rabbits.
Thanks for watching buddy
Clan Gunn Bushcraft ,
Yes mate got few ferrets .
Make all my own nets
Awesome
Gonna prank my friends with this next time were hiking
Spectacular
I like the draw string single line for closing the net. Much cleaner and better then the 4 corner lines I use in my example.
Thanks, it a much better way to close the net.
I love your trap videos. It's how I found your channel...
I was thinking about doing a series of videos testing out movie death traps.
I wanted to start with the predator movie and thought... let's see if anyone else has done something simular.
Yours are awesome!! Really funny.
When you were pixled out in that tree haha Brilliant!
Thanks for watching buddy
The across stick goes under net does it or not I'm trying to think if maybe under it instead of on top.
Class video mate.
Just found your channel and subbed.
Looking forward to watching more.
ATVB
Take care, Steve. 👍👍
A shot in the dark here, but am I right in assuming you were probably a straight A student in shop class / home-ec? You strike me as a highly useful type-a-guy to have around when dealing with the most unusual of circumstances, no? Again, cool stuff man!
Great job!! How long did it take you to make the net?🙂
Great job ur like a royal marine
Cool vid m8.
Cheers buddy. Thanks for watching
Thanks
Glenn, excellent teaching film! How big do you think you could make this trap. Could you adjust iso that the net were 36 inches wide? Cheers Suzan
Thanks for watching
Awesome vid Andy ☺ and maybe I should try to make a fishing bait net vid some time on my channel ☺
You should buddy.
I made a 1m x 4m Gill net a few days ago. 3 hours of tying knots tho 😑
Should hopefully catch me some dinner!?
Thanks for watching
Clan Gunn Bushcraft 3 hours of knots that's a lot of work but when you catch a fish in the net you made then it's worth making ("when you make something and it works then it's worth making") ☺ and that's how I feel every time I do a project in my work shop ☺
This would have been good to use when I was trying to catch a feral Harris hawk
Yes, it would be perfect for that. In my opinion, net traps are more efficency as bird traps. Mammals tend to chew through nets.
Thanks for watching buddy
I think this net trap will work on catching predators ...........
മലയാളി ഉണ്ടോ 😃
Great video Andy, you made it really easy to understand how to make the net. How long did it take in real time. Thanks for sharing, mate, take care.
Thanks Andy, appreciate it brotha.
I use to make purse nets for ferreting rabbits in the same way, so iv had alot of practice making them.
It takes me about 45 minutes to make a net of this size.
I made a 1m x 4m gill net last week and that took about 3.5 hours.
Thanks for watching bro
Great trap as it allows the trapper to catch and release should there be any reason for not catch kill cooking a certain creature eg one with offspring in tow. Brilliant video
Subscribed
Thanks brotha, subbed you back and looking forward to watching your videos.
Great point to. With trapping, we dont always trap the critter we intended. Live catch is best, unless its a survival situation. In that case, id eat anything haha.
Cheers and take care,
Andy
Clan Gunn Bushcraft
I do catch kill cook but in the luxury of getting out to play I mostly release too. But rabbiting poke nets was my usual method or a fishing rod which is mostly what I do now again catch and release to native fish and eat seasonal migrant or invasive species.
Many thanks for subscribing to me
Ps where are you based
Awesome buddy... You'll never starve out in the wilderness when you can fish as well as yourself.
That's it, I originally learnt how to make nets to build purse nets for rabbiting. Back in my ferreting days.
I was born in Stranraer, but I've lived in Derbyshire since I was a kiddie. My main Yew tree camp is in Galloway forest and my newer camp from my survival shelter video is in Derbyshire.
What about yourself? What part of Scotland are you from??
Clan Gunn Bushcraft ferreting lol way a whippet and a 4/10 lol my childhood too hence the poke nets
Am from Clydebank that’s west of Glasgow near Erskine Bridge
I have an add-on for a different prince on the channel =)
Amazonicos mix
Amazonico
I need to find someone to help me build a net trap.
How'd it go?
