Oh, man. Seeing this brings back a lot of memories. This was my 1st car, twenty years ago when I was 19. It was a gift from my uncle. It was immaculate. It had the original sport wheels, the original tape deck that I took out and placed it with a pioneer cd player. It was the first car I learned to drive a stick in. It had about 150k miles on it back in 2003, it was at 198k when I sold it in 2007. I think about that car everyday. I would love to get another one, but I have a wife and kids, plus my youngest child's stroller in the trunk. But if I do, it'll be just for me
I dream of driving old Toyotas like this one's! If I ever own a Toyota with a 4A-GE engine I would upgrade its reliability by swapping sensitive parts with heavy duty ones. Love the video!
I can literally get you one for 400 bucks I'm not joking we have one sitting in our yard it's been there for over a year I can send you a video for proof
I had a 1986 GTS I bought brand new. Not quite the same as this one but it was a fantastic car! Stupid me gave it away back in the late 90's because I was too lazy to change the clutch. Yeah I was a moron!
Cool video. Back in 1988 in NYC my first car was a 1988 SR5 charcoal gray. Loved that car and leased it for $250 a month. 4 years later after hard NYC driving they wanted $10 K cause it was wrecked.
i have the 1990 gts with blue color, my hobie car, i do drive them 2 days of the week, blast to drive. what coilover do u have? i've been looking for one with camber adjustment . for the radiator, u can find 2 rows all aluminum rad but they cost over 200 and they don't fit exactly right. i have it and had to do a little bit of fab to it, basically the 2 radiator tap on the bottom don't line up, so i had to cut it off and reweild them to make them fit both bottom and top brackets. if u haven't, i highly recommend install a temp gauge and extra slim fan with switch or relay to help out the main fans during stop and go traffic.( the oem fan infront of the condenser is kinda weak, the fan on the rad is ok), and get some sticky pad of foam to put on ur rad fan to keep the fan shrowd sealed so will notice the temp drop during use vs none sticky foam pad.check the oil cooler line on both the oil pan connection and oil filter connection, they tend to leak there ( due to old age and vibration the clamps getting loosen), just have to retighten the clamps or replace the clamp and u will solve ur leaks there. the distributor is suspect of leaking oil also, u can buy a rebuild kit to reseal the whole thing.
I wish I never sold mine. It was one of my favorite cars to drive that I've ever owned. I had an 86 or 87 for a very short time. I had to deploy and sold it to a friend for what I paid for it. I did prefer the rear lights on that model vs. this one though.
how much did you sell it for? im currently looking at one but they are asking for 7,000 and i feel that its too steep for me considering it would be my first car
Hi, I own a 1989 Toyota Corolla GTS, with a 4A-GE engine. I brought it brand new in Mannheim Germany. It runs, but it needs a full blow tune-up and I was wondering if you or anyone you new could service this amazing automobile. I don’t drive it much and it’s garbage kept. I live in the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee, not sure of your location, as long as it’s not over 5 hours, I could bring the vehicle to you for service, it would be greatly appreciated. It has about 230,0000 miles, digest the thought and let me know. Thanks
I had the 1989 version. Loved that car. Miss it.
