      Engine modification is the only way to make these things last and have power. Get a bigger carb, widen and raise the exhaust port and clean up the other ports. Gotta be sure the cylinder base gasket isn't blocking the transfers too. DO NOT BUY "MOTORIZED BIKE" EXPANSION CHAMBERS... THEY DO NOT WORK. Get a dirt bike expansion chamber and weld it on. Any dirt bike expansion chamber is better than the motorized bike exhausts on ebay...

    Hey that's a smart little engine to be fair. With the extra torque from the larger cylinder, it could be worth changing the rear sprocket for a -2 or -3 tooth smaller one - it'd increase the top end a fair bit and hopefully not be so much as to make the gear too long though.

  • @codelicious6590
    @codelicious6590 3 роки тому +1

    I really like the fact that they made a larger bore, apparently its 50mm as opposed to previous engines all 47mm. That to me gives it alot of potential but with the head not detachable it seems that it would be hard if not impossible to get in there to modify the ports so I think I'll stick with the old long connecting rod type B piston variety and the two hours of port work I have to do on each replacement cylinder. I'm still running my Zeda80 bottom end on maybe my sixth fresh top end and second fresh bike? Bearings still good, still runs like a champ!

    Hey Alex, nice sounding little motor! Just bought my first bike motor. Got it from Helio through Walmart . Supposed to be a PK 80, we'll see. You and a couple of other guys got me into this, wish me luck. I'm 68 years old with a bad back. Retired and bored, this looks like a lot of inexpensive fun so I thought I'd give it a go.
    Can you give me some instruction for breaking these motors in? Do I baby the motor, or what? Any tips you can give me would help... Thanks!
    Ps. From the picture the motor comes partially disassembled. What should I look for when putting it together. I'm familiar with old British motorcycle motors, but they're all four strokes. I have all the tools so that isn't an issue.

    For those worried about him going that fast with coaster brakes...don't.
    Yes coaster brakes can heat up and explode at speeds like this, but if you look closely, he slowly disengages the clutch when he wants to slow down, dramatically reducing the amount of wear on the coaster brakes, and making it much safer to stop

      yeah its ment to be a 100cc engine and they are all the same as the 80cc/49cc. i payed $180 aus for an 80cc kit and the only problems ive had was the float in the carb had a hole in it and the chain kept snapping, all i did was buy a performance carbe and a spring chain tension and i havnt had a problem ever since. i just like to make sure all the bolts are tight every month or so

    How about Engine Hop ups?
    I'm running a 26" Beach Cruiser with a Stage Two engine. 8mm mounting bolts, Balanced crank, tuned pipe, Hi Compression Head, w/ 6mm combustion chamber, Iridium Spark Plug, the big box Racing Reed Valve, Longer intake manifold, Racing Carb. All of this is to help the engine simply "breath" better.
    Over this summer I've been also working with different Jet sizes. With this setup I burn Premium Gas and full synthetic "Stihl" chainsaw oil, mixed at 40-1.
    With a 44 tooth rear sprocket, flat ground, zero wind, 44-46 mph, comfortable cruise 37-38 mph. I bought a $12 Digital speed computer from the local Hardware Store.

    I spent nearly $400 on a friction drive kit with a Honda engine, $100 on a Huffy Cranbrook, $40 on Kevlar tires, and was not disappointed. It's about half as fast on average, but that little 1HP engine surprised me. The whole thing was easy and reliable. The 2 stroke engines I was using before each and every 1 (except 1 that cost several hundred dollars to build, equipped with an expansion chamber exhaust, high comp head, special sprocket adapter, 40T sprocket in back, and a great, reliable CDI system that's been discontinued for years) quit in 3 months or less, put too much wear and tear on my bikes and the kits themselves, the kit I had with the 212cc predator engine wobbled my wheel and axle so hard it totaled my Schwinn Meridian trike in 3 blocks, but my Staton-inc. friction drive kit with their smallest engine and drive roller was pulling me 16-25MPH for hundreds of miles and almost a year without issue until the bike was stolen.
