Fuck gamberson. Leather armor all the way. Why have to stitch your armor back up like some hag with pestilence when you can just buy a new leather vest when you knick your first?
The fabric armor that the blades were cutting is called gambeson and it was the most common type of armor in the medieval times. It's made from multiple layers of thick fabric and offered good protection for the wearer even if they couldn't afford chain or plate. The reason why they got slashed so easily is probably because the blades are either impressively sharp or the coat wasn't thick enough or didn't have enough layers.
the helmet one really got me mad. armor was so impenetrable that some men would DIE from exhaustion. The whole point of fighting someone who had armor was to disorient and knock down your opponent, where you then wrestle on the ground to drive a knife or sword tip through the weak points and bends in the armor

o: 👏👏👏👏👏
excellent work John 👏👏👏👏👏
tximista : rissole redemption 👏👏👏👏👏
GjevalinTime thats whats happens when you put a brick on a stick
"I can do that and im not even a blacksmith"
"I don't think anyone would ever wear that armor"
*Angry Kingdom Come Deliverance noises*
This man could watch paint dry and his commentary would still be better than most professionals
Did this dude just smash a sword into bricks and expect it to be fine?
Yes because most professional blades should be extremely durable
@@the86thhokage93 *Bricks.*
@@Concerned_Custodian yes
It's to test who made the more durable blade and if it still remained sharp.

'What's up John Francis? It certainly couldn't be worse than the la--'
*crash*
**clapping**
Yes someone else found this funny aswell that was so good
That wasn't hand clapping.
The face he made too.
If i was deaf i would praise you but im not
The funny thing is i went to college with JF, and he was SUPER embarrassed about this and all the guys in our household ragged on him for it when he came around
I saw my dad watching this a few years back and I forgot it for the longest time until I saw this
This is one of my favourite videos on UA-cam lmao
The Village and Pillage update looks great.
The new villagers are very interesting you are a man of culture for sure.
It’s so fuckin fun
"That's not even real metal. That's aluminium"
Charlie, god dammit, aluminium is a metal! You're supposed to be a man of science!
Aluminium aint no metal. It's a wannabe.
Reploidx9 Aluminum is a metal look at the periodic table of elements but aluminum is a very weak metal.
@@Koyomix86 Very week? Aluminum is seven days long???
Saltlord thanks I didn’t notice that
I mean aluminum is kinda shit for any weaponry propose let alone food even. Ever have a aluminum pot that hasn't broken after a year or even heard of an aluminium knife? I sure a shit haven't
Well damn, pops into my recommended and it’s still good
3:40 the change in expression is great, I love this guy
"We've killed your family" "Do you even have hair on the palm of your hands?" 😂😂
Most of the people in this video have never bagged a coleman in ‘86 and snags 100 BT. The chances that they have is
$1.02
“That’s not even real metal, that’s aluminum”
"I dont think anyone would ever wear that armor" *talking about a gambeson probably the single most used type of armor all through history*
6:30 but... it's Gambeson. Not annoyed at Charlie or anything, just sad that Gambeson never gets the recognition it deserves.
You act as if a piece of armor desires recognition, is it a fucking protagonist of an underdog movie or some shit?
Fuck gamberson. Leather armor all the way. Why have to stitch your armor back up like some hag with pestilence when you can just buy a new leather vest when you knick your first?
It is a shame since gambeson was widely used
@@hanzolos1852 Leather armor is Hollywood bullshit
@@hanzolos1852 leathers shit
3:42- “It certainly couldn’t be worse than the last o-“, *applauds*
The comedic timing for charlie's comments in this video is absolutely flawless
Yeah, I'm fairly sure bending in part of that helmet with the blade basically means the person wearing it is having a bad fucking day.
"i dOn'T liKE tHiS hANdlE"
boo hoo bitch
The point was to test durability not if it was going to cut
@@Mr-Trox if it's properly padded? Not really. The helmet is doing its job and if you went after a guy in plate with this, you're lucky if you got a single hit. This test, at most, checks if the blade will break, using glorified props to achieve it.
@@EgorKaskader from how it feels in the show its like they expect to have a blade cut through the armour
