This gorgeous 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe was restored by Oldsmobile 442 experts “Thornton Muscle Cars” and is simply one of the best. This is a very correct and high show quality frame off restoration. This car is documented and was a 57,000 original mile survivor prior to the restoration that was completed in 2020. It sports a beautiful color combination of a red/white exterior and a black/white interior. It’s loaded with features including ice cold air conditioning. It’s powered by the original matching numbers 455 V8 engine and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. MS CLASSIC CARS has been looking for many years to purchase a Thorton’s Oldsmobile 442 for our collection but haven’t been able to make it happen until now. This is a great opportunity to purchase one of the best right here, right now!
The exterior of this car is truly remarkable in every sense of the word. The aggressive design screams American Muscle and will always be timeless. The 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is very similar to the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. They’ll both always be highly sought after American Muscle Cars. The body of this car is extremely straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and rear deck lid close so nicely! The W25 Ram Air hood has hood pins to keep it secure. The car has been finished in its original color of Matador Red - code C/75. The hood stripes and body line stripes were painted White. These two colors greatly complement each other especially on this car. The paint quality is exceptional throughout.
The interior is this car is also truly remarkable in every sense of the word. It’s literally like sitting in a brand new car. The car originally had a black interior with a bench seat which was boring. The bench seat was replaced with sporty bucket seats. To improve its appearance Pearl White was added to complement the exterior colors. The simulated wood trim on the dash and console ads a touch of class. The new interior was ordered from Legendary Interior which is a high quality brand. The headliner, sun visors, pillars, door panels and the bucket seats are Pearl White. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced including the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, dash, dash hardware, gauges, steering column, sport steering wheel, radio, heating/air conditioning system, dual gate console, shifter, door panels, window cranks, door handles, seats, seat belts, pedals and carpeting. A set of new correct black rubber floor mats were added. The air conditioning was upgraded to 134 with cross flow condenser. Everything in the interior is in working condition such as the dome light, courtesy lights, gauges, clock, headlights, turn signals, horn, radio, heating/air conditioning system, etc. Even the key buzzer works!
The trunk compartment has been fully restored and is in excellent condition. It was finished in the correct trunk paint. It also has the correct style trunk mat. It’s equipped with a full size spare and the factory jack tools.
The engine compartment is very correct and highly detailed throughout. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was finished in the correct shade of black. Everything in the engine compartment has been restored or replaced such as the hood hinges, wiring, wiper motor, hoses, clamps, nuts and bolts. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 455 V8 engine which was completely rebuilt. It was rebuilt to factory specs with the exception of a mild Comp Cam. The engine was painted in the correct shade of blue. The car is fueled by its original carburetor that was completely rebuilt. The car breathes through factory manifolds and a new correct style dual exhaust system that sounds awesome. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The power is transferred to the original rear end with 3.23 gears. The rear end was upgraded to POSI for better traction.
The undercarriage is also very correct and highly detailed throughout. The underside of the body was finished in the correct finish including the red body color, grey and the black textured paint around the transmission area. It also has the correct factory paint marks, tags and stickers throughout. Everything was restored or replaced including the fuel tank, power steering system, power braking system and suspension system.

I had a 442 three speeds with a over drive, sixty side tires in the back n in front I had the everyday regular side tires thirty inch with a little wideness so its could manage the front of the vehicle from turning over if ur taking a sharp turn, its would handle the turn so what better because you would have a wider tire n it would be gripping the road a little bit more n if you know what ya car has, then you wouldn’t have to worry about ya rear end fishtailing on you n if its does fishtail on you, then it’s up to you to handle the RPM that the car is throwing out n get it under control that is if you really know your baby ya car, I remember one night that I was going to a rotary n I didn’t want to go around the circle of the rotary n I’m in the left lane n in my right was a sima truck n for some reason I floor my gas pedal n decided to make a right turn knowing that the truck was in front of me, but I was committed to make the move that its was implanted in my mind n some peoples who was around the area show what I just did n they couldn’t believe what they saw because the next day someone who was there came up to me n said that either I was crazy because of what I did with the tractor trailer the night before, they said that the car responded very well because as its was fishtailing n going in front of the truck with no problem n the way that handle the car, he couldn’t explain it to no one else because they would’ve not believe him, many peoples knew my car but they really didn’t know me until they would see me get off the car n ask me if I was the owner of the car n I said yes I’m the owner of the car but its would respond when its wants to respond plus I was the only one who would work on it because if wanted the car running roughly I would work on the distributor which is the the timing of the rpm n set the carburetor so its could have the right air flow going into the air jets flow in which the carburetor is sucking in would determine if the car would respond to ya setting if not then you have to go set them again until you have it running like you want to

It's nice no doubt and not knocking it but shouldn't the engine be red or gold if it's a rocket and original

All 70-72 455 Oldsmobile engines were painted blue from the factory . Only small blocks were gold .

Side stripes are wrong the lower strips are to thin ...most are from
Lansing Michigan I like the white interior better than my black with white exterior W-30 ..
The hood is the W-25 option...
SORRY That car is now a clone not worth more than $25,000. Changing parts I guess my W-30 is still original why not the factory grind camshaft...
Nice car thought I like to find them before someone screws with them my '64 & '67 I did body off frame restoration evey nut and bolt... Cleaning all the old paint off and applying epoxy primer then doing my body work and paint when finished taking my time for everything to shrink I watch a lot of those shows on t.v. doing a car in a month or two right junk wait a year down the road when everything starts to sink and show waves and sanding scratches...

@@MSClassicCars Peter comments on every 70 cutlass, he gets mad when he sees a nice one. Show him a picture of the F heads and he will chill out. This car is really nice. I have a original 70 notchback cutlass with the SX 442 package that is matador red. The front end on your car is really straight and aligned well . I always spot a fake when they use later model fenders . Your fenders are original 1970 and look mint. I paid 28000 for my car unrestored with 38k miles 18 years ago. Your car is worth 100k + to the right person

You’re wrong Peter, non w30 442’s had the the thin stripe along the side not the wide w30 stripes. This car’s stripes are correct

Stop majoring on the minors and major on the majors. The horses are not complaining while the wagon is intact!
