LETS GO I knew it Chips here baby. Theres nobody Day would trust more or is a better fit to run the offense. Chips one of the best and most creative offensive minds in the game today who multiple other legendary coaches have consulted. He literally mentored Day and helped him get to where he is today. He also worked with Day and Frye for a long time before. The fit is absolutely perfect between the three and I cant wait.

Urban Meyer ran a similar offense of Chip Kelly back in the 2014-15 season. Ended up winning the Natty, just sayin this could be a very interesting season. If somehow Chip can get the up-tempo offense he ran at Oregon with this new Talent, look out!

I had said a year ago, that when Ohio St was great, they had a good dual threat QB, a powerful run game, and great defense. This supee pass happy system weakened the team mentality. Any kind of spread offense with running as it's bread and butter is what fits Ohio St best.
I'm wondering if this is an anomaly/exception to the rule or will more high profile coaches rather be coordinators at elite programs rather than be head coaches at programs they know are less likely to compete for conference and national championships.... 🤔?
This is going to work for the Buckeyes big time. Chip molded 3 star recruits into a winning program. With the talent the Buckeyes have the offense is going to be sick.
Please do yourself a favor and watch Chip's Offense at UCLA. It was still effective, but it is not the fast paced offense you are thinking.
With the additions to the offensive talent, I expect to see records broke and offensive perfection at "THE" Ohio State.

It’s still going to be a Ryan Day offense. The combination of Kelly and Day will be good.
This is a good fit IMO just because 1. Chip isn't a player's coach. That's always been the knock on him. He doesn't have to motivate guys. He doesn't have to worry about this 2. He was never a great recruiter; therefore, getting access to elite talent (more notable cfb program, the team already have a set of good recruiters) that fits his vision is ideal. I always felt he was an X and O's guy and nothing more.
This is almost as big as the Urban Meyer hire!!

JD, make no mistake about it...this was never going to be Bill O'Brien's and certainly will NOT be Chip Kelly's Offense...This is and was always going to be Ryan Day's Offense with either of them calling Ryan Day's playbook. The notion that this is going to be a QB run heavy...uptempo Oregon Ducks style Offense is not going to be the case. Bill O'Brien may have called more play action but it would've been out of Ryan Day's playbook...Chip Kelly may run more uptempo (but this isn't going to become QB read option) but it will come out of Ryan Day's playbook. To think that Ryan Day is going to put his playbook and terminology into the shredder and turn everything over to Chip Kelly and re-verbalize the entire Offense is non-logical!
The biggest question about Kelly us can he recuit or does he even want to deal with recruiting?

And does it consistently for a couple years Along with the fact that he just simply wants to call plays and leave all the administrative stuff to Ryan Day and Co. he will make 4/5 million a year to just Do what he loves. Plus Ryan Day played QB for Chip. So trust is there. Familiarity is there.

As a Bruins fan, Ohio St did us a favor! We should have let Chip go in November. He couldn't duplicate his success at Oregon because once his offense got figured out, that was the end. Great coaches reinvent themselves! My suggestion to UCLA is to hire a proven & recognized HC, or they might just lose the talent that they do have.

I wouldn't go that far. Maybe Ohio St, but UCLA can get the talent. IMO, the AD doesn't make UCLA attractive enough to get good quality and dedicated coaches. The 2022 and 2023 team could have really done some damage if the right coaching staff was in place.

The NIL situation at UCLA is bad, which is weird for a school in the 2nd largest media market & a brand that big. Plus, if he shows out at OSU he can prob turn that into a better job down the line. Also, Chip & Ryan have a great relationship. So that played a huge factor too.
