    Hopefully, our offense gets better with Chip! I am not concerned whats so ever about our QB this year like I was last year.

      I have to imagine it does. Chip can take a weak spot in an O-Line and set it up so that weak spot is a nonfactor. Combine that with his ability to keep a defense guessing, like your offense is going to look nuts. As a duck fan looking forward to watching you guys play this year.

    I love Chip, I miss him at Oregon, but I am so excited to see him bring his game to a new program especially like Ohio State. What Chip did with what he had to work with at Oregon recruitwise was nothing short of a miracle. If I remember correctly. Chips play calling doesnt necessarily mean he calls a play, it could be 3 plays, it just depends on how the defense lines up. So Chip offense is very fluid and requires pretty hi football IQ from the players.

    Great video! I'm so excited to see what Chip can do with Ohio State's athletes. When Ryan can just be the head coach, and not have to be the OC too, it is going to make a world of difference in the team's performance! Other channels say that UA-cam will demonitize you for showing game film, how can you guys do a "Film Study" video?

    I love the X's and O's but as just a casual fan this is way over my head I'm just glad I'm not the DC who has to go against him. Offenses keep changing, I'd bet if you brought Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry and George Halas back to life and ran defense for the other team they wouldn't know what to do with this, because things have changed so much.

    In first play BOTH D-tackles were in the gap between the offense's guards and tackles, not standard

    • @ammielcoats9762
      @ammielcoats9762 11 місяців тому

      That's the dynamic of a zone blocking scheme they were in the gap but still out of the play. The purpose of it is to take the defender where he wants to go for the back to find the open lane it's not as predictable as you think.

    Michigan fan here. I do really appreciate this, and understand it's showing his overall schemes. But you've highlighted some atrocious defensive decisions. If Kelly formation'd himself into these, he deserves credit. But I'm not sure that's the case.
    First play is a 5 man box, against an in-line TE. That's 6 *blockers* for 5 defenders, which doesn't even count the RB and QB; and the safety immediately bails deep! I assumed this was 3rd and 35, but box score from this game says 1st and 10. What on earth is Oregon State doing? Defense lost before the ball was snapped, no chance.
    The play vs. Oregon (9:12) has two problems: the DE is super slow off the snap and almost certainly goes to the wrong gap. You can see the DT steps to his right, and runs into that DE. This is supported by the LB (#33) not taking contain immediately. There is no way for this defense to work here. Did Kelly trick them into this? I don't think so. The DE went the wrong way and so Oregon had no edge defender, and 2 defenders in one gap.
    USC on the goal line: you yourself note how ridiculous it is for USC to be in this defense
    The next USC play. Boy I hope Chip tries to block a Michigan, Iowa, or Penn State LB with a WR. #53 for USC should just turn in his helmet. Anyone on the 3 deep in Ann Arbor is going to knock the WR silly.

    All this ''hype'' -- and -- all the talent he will have - should be a real success story ? -- The good news is he will have most of the season to perfect these schemes for the good competition late in the year ! -- Oregon & PS aren't real early - so they have some time to perfect these schemes somewhat - before needed ! 🤔
