      Kaice you are speaking the truth... when I first went natural and decided to no longer chemically relax my hair I was always blowing out my hair and then use a straightener. Then I did the big chop and I just rocked the puff because my hair was short. As my hair started to grow back I was putting my hair in a low bun rather then embracing my short hair and rocking a wash and go. I'm 1yr natural and today for the first time I tried a wash and go... it didn't come out the way I was expecting but my mom said she thought my hair was beautiful. I just wanted to thank you for posting and for offering up the tips for us naturals.

    Yesssssss I am so addicted to cutting my hair that I even watch youtubers cut their own hair 😩😩 i hate split dead ends i cant help it. So ironic bcuz when i was relaxed i hate cutting my hair I think mainly bcuz my hair didnt grow like how it grows now unprocessed.

    I noticed that all the natural hair youtubers I've watched have been relaxed and had a transition to natural. I was even asked when I started my journey. I was always natural. Just didn't care enough to take care of my hair until now. Here begins the start of my actually taking care of my hair journey!

    I haven't heard anybody talk about it before but I feel like over picking your hair can also mess up your hair. I didn't like my shrinkage and I would pick out my hair so much that it permanently messed up some of my hair like I know it did cuz my hair didn't look right till I got a cut and it started to grow and I keep thinking wow I should have just left my hair alone

    GIRL!!! IM SOOOOOOOOO GLAD I Found this video under your mielle review page!! Literally EVERYTHING You said, I did. Especially When it came to spending hella money on hair products thinking my hair was going to turn out how it did on someone else's head. I'm going on almost 5+ years myself and when I say I STILL struggle with embracing my shrinkage.... My hair has definitely grown and thicken, and I only use heat on my hair once a month. Thanks for sharing these tips!! I will for sure listen! I LOVE YOUR HAIR BTW!!

      The time will fly by. Be patient. After about 9 or 10 months i got the hang of my hair and since then time had flown.. I've had 1 mini big chop and 2 trims to keep my hair at shoulder length.

    • @HeartGolden

      I transition but on the way I realized that it grows faster when you big chop

    • @rachells54
      @rachells54 7 років тому +4

      Trust me, after you big chop, a few months later the progress is amazing. Take your time and dont rush it. its scary to big chop

    • @adasaura8648
      @adasaura8648 6 років тому +1

      I was transitioning once but the process had me frustrated until one day I just cut it off. Man I was fed up with the two different hair textures lol It's ok tho cus it made me sky rocket into the natural hair journey instead of being scared to move on 🙏🏿

      Mariela Que Whats wrong with doing this?

    • @avasd59
      @avasd59 7 років тому +53

      MsShaye H she answered your question in the video. It's hella unnecessary 😂. You don't need to wash your hair more than once a week, if not once every two weeks imo. Imo it's better and less of a hassle to Find ways to keep your hair moisturized without having to constantly wash, deep condition and moisturize. Plus too much deep conditioning can damage your hair as well. Too much of anything is counterproductive. The less you do to your hair, the better

    • @shannh6724
      @shannh6724 7 років тому +4

    One mistake I made was not preserving my wash n gos. I would try to just put a bonnet on it but it still ended up damp and matted the next morning. I started stretching my hair in sections with hair ties over night and THEN putting on a bonnet. Works like a charm

    Mine was putting my hair in cornrows as a protective style & gurrrl! My hair used to shed so much in the past & I never knew why?! I was literally sooo fucking gentle and proper! Never did much to my hair that would harm it. Literally just kept it in cornrows and wash n go's. I always moisturized and all that holy grail shit but my hair gave no fucks. Literally shed like the back of a 🐐. & then I was like, sis, backtrack, what you keep doing that every time you do you see more shedding than normal? Fucking cornrows!!!!! I stopped for a couple of months and lawd! My hair basically sheds like, a piece of hair in a week & it's never looked fuller! I just keep it on twists & all that stuff. Nothing rough.

    • @Ninokaz
      @Ninokaz 7 років тому +1

      Theonewiththe Dreams probably while doing the cornrows you pulled your hair too much i guess

    • @missy4335
      @missy4335 7 років тому

      Were the cornrows too tight? The same thing happend in to me in Jamaica when a lady cornrowed my hair VERY tight. My hair fell out in chunks after I took the cornrows out!😨

    I too had maaaaany mistakes,my hair grows very fast buuuut,I never used to deep condition my hair,never used to moisturize regularly,I used sulphate shampoos,I never used to cover my hair with a silky or satin bonet,i regularly used heat,sooooo,I never retained length....but now am seeing so much improvement.

    • @KaiceAlea
      @KaiceAlea  7 років тому +5

      Well at the time it was just scab hair (the hair that initially grows when you first go natural that is still damaged from your scalp still trying to repair itself) so eventually when the scab hair was gone i was able to moisturize it effectively

    • @moureenkinyeki7880
      @moureenkinyeki7880 4 роки тому

    I just realized my biggest mistake and why I’m still barely at shoulder length after three years after my 4th bc is every time I wash my hair which was only 2-3 times a month was I would always dc with a protein conditioner. And never used a moisturizing dc. I have high porosity hair so I thought I only needed the protein😢 no not so👎🏽 I started this week as a matter of fact dc’g with the moisturizing conditioner and will use the protein dc only once a month. And will wash and dc every week!

      What process do you use with the clay? I used acv because everybody says it's better. But when I finally mixed my clay with water my curls loved it! I followed with Aussie Moist Conditioner. Love love love clay washes now. You might have to try a different method than what everyone suggests.

    Am I the only one who is not even interested in using heat? Like I can live without heat. In all my life I've only used heat twice because it was just for fun (honestly I didn't know what I was doing) but that time I was relaxed, I'm transitioning now and my hair is always in braids so there is never any need for heat.

    I cut my hair two times, first to cut the perm and damaged hair then the second time I couldn't see much of a curl pattern but saw my hair was wavy near like the roots of my hair and so I cut it. Now my hair is very curly throughout my whole head and Im just waiting for-it to grow. I first cut my hair in oct of 2016 and my second time I cut it sep 2016 so my length was a cute length before I cut it the second time. It was to my ear when I measured my hair to where my hair would stop to. I always wore my hair in a puffy afro. Im trying to get my hair to grow to my shoulders so I can wear a cute bob. I decided I wont cut my hair again and think if I grow my hair out for 3 yrs it will be at my shoulders. Any advice on hair growth?
