Despite the fact that I spent an ungodly amount of my childhood watching my brother play Sonic Heroes, so the soundtrack is absolutely burned into my brain, I never made the connection either lol. It’s a jam!
Last summer I finally hit 10,000VR and finished unlocking everything in this game about 9 years after buying it. Beating the Special Cup and watching the credits roll one last time afterwards hit me like a truck. It felt so damn good to finally do that save file the justice it deserved.

It builds on botw in so many ways, like the dev and design teams worked very hard for the whole six years. But yea, now the games are only newly available as bonus for an online subscription, which is iffy (but it's better than two separate subscriptions as Xbox does). I don't think Donkey Kong for GB is on there, which is a shame. Side flips on that console feels so space-age.

This was the first Mario Kart I remember coming out and buying on launch. I still prefer Wii and DS, but it’s great that people seem to finally appreciate 7 too. The courses in this game were some of the best in the series, the retro courses specifically. I feel like they brought back all the best courses from the previous games, with a few exceptions. There were some notable things missing from this game though like VS mode, the character selection was wack, and the pace of the game (driving) feels slower than Wii, DS, DD or 8DX which is why I come back to it less often.
This was the first Mario Kart I ever owned. I have immense nostalgia for it. I think it’s one of the worst entries in the series. I absolutely HATE the way the game handles. Everything moves way too slowly. The character roster is garbage and the nitro tracks are mid as hell. And yes, I've played every Mario Kart game extensively. That's not to say my opinion is worth more than anyone else's, but I feel like you have to have played the other ones to say it's one of the best or worst in the series because otherwise, what are you even comparing it to?

I remember in 2012 when my best friend taught me how to port mp3 files to the 3ds Music app. This soundtrack was the first thing I downloaded, specifically the remixes of them uploaded to UA-cam. Gone were the days of leaving my 3DS on in Time Trial Mode.

MK7 was my first video game ever. Probably one of my most favorite game. I played this game hundreds of time with my friends thanks to the possibility to play at 8 with one cartridge.
