I remember Ronnie Coleman saying at the start of his career that he felt small at 220 lbs compared to Flex Wheeler at 220 lbs, because Flex full muscle belly gave the illusion of him at 235-240 lbs on stage. Incredible with the hard work he was able to put on high quality muscle size over the years. That being said Phil is similar to Flex Wheeler & probably 25-30 lbs lighter than Ronnie, he is hanging with Ronnie pose to pose competitively. End of the day, I go with Ronnie with his bigger & Wilder structure.
Phil is UNBELIEVABLY strong from the side because it takes width out of the equation, so his signature 3D looks make him incredibly dominant. That would be true for ANY era. In the rest of the poses, he wouldn't do that well in the current era, or the 90s, because structure and width is/was held in very high esteem, while in the 2010s it became a lot about the fullness and the 3D look. Ronnie wins easily, and it would have been even more of a landslide victory if they ACTUALLY appeared together on stage.

That shit makes a lot of difference. Also you give credit to phil's calves a lot when his calves don't look that much better than coleman's from the front.

Not 100% sure about early, but all Ronnie's wins were in 1 day events. Also why in 2006 coach Chad N. brought him so full for the prejudging knowing he had the rest of the day & next day till evening to dry him out. (Sadly Ronnie was too injured then regardless).
