If you acknowledge someone doesn’t have good social skills don’t leave anything up for interpretation. “Hey Rocko, thanks for the offer, we’re in the middle of yoga so we’ll see you later.”
Well.. in these situations, it usually comes w age and experience. I was the same way. They are young and will hopefully use this experience to be more straightforward. “Females are allowed to be direct without it being rude” is a quote I try to live by when I feel uncomfortable.
Yeah and if you feel so uncomfortable why are you doing yoga in panties in an area that’s even accessible to him? Lmao

Exactly! They noticed that he couldn't read/understand body language and face expressions but didn't bother to be be direct with their words... It's like to keep showing images to a blind person and get weirded out that they can't see them.... To me the whole story sounds like a failure on the girls behalf to make the communication with someone who can't read social ques work...

I didn’t even watch past 6 minutes to find out what was really so bad about this dude, but I hope he never ever sees this video because he obviously has some social / filter issues and it is so sad to hear you both degrade him over trying to have conversations with you in a home you invited him to be in
We did not invite him.... Our other roommates who we were absolutely fine with, moved out, and someone who our landlord didn't know and couldn't vouch for (like he had for the previous roommates) "invited" him.
@@alisonhenryy well you guys obviously noticed that your roommate struggled with recognizing and understanding socially appropriate behaviors, so why not to use your words?? He couldn't read body language and face expressions so why not to be direct with him in your words?? You know for someone who communicates through words only if you're not saying straight forward "no" it's a "yes". In my opinion all the misunderstanding and the uncomfortable situations in communicating with your roommate were totally on you girls, you did notice that he was different but didn't bother to make it work... And btw people on spectrum have extremely sensitive hearing, so you talking across the room or even behind the wall - for them is as if you are standing right next to them. So no he wasn't trying to invade your privacy, and simple "oh no, nothing, I'm just talking to my sister, see you later" few times in a row would have done the trick....
@@lorikpi8576 you have obviously never had to deal with someone who literally doesn't listen and cannot comprehend what you are trying to tell them. My boyfriend knows a guy who he went to elementary school with. He is on disability and gets drunk and does all the drugs. Doesn't understand social ques at all. Doesn't listen when you tell him to be quiet or stop talking. The only way we got him out of our house last time was literally grabbing him and making him move then locking the door. So ya. 🤷♀️ I couldn't even imagine living with the guy. I would probably loose it.
@@pineapplepapercrafts Sorry to hear that, but that's not the case with the girls' roommate though, first off, they shared living space (he wasn't invited over and wouldn't leave, he was their roommate) and most importantly according to the girls themselves he always checked with them first - whether he could join their yoga practice, if he could have some drinks with them etc, - they just never bothered to be straight forward with him, also never do they mention that their roommate got physical with them in any way. So in my opinion based on what girls shared in the video - all the uncomfortable situations were result of misunderstanding and miscommunication. The first thing that girls point out in their story is their roommate's inability to read body language and social ques. But instead of taking it into consideration and still trying to make it work (being straight forward with words, explaining how they felt about him not participating in doing kitchen chores and working out a chore chart with him, not passive aggressively behind his back and waiting on the miracle to happen and etc), they just put a "weirdo" label on him and let the misunderstanding escalate. All of that could've been avoided.
What....... is the point of this? i hope that guy doesn’t know what you do and end up seeing this :(

If you’re a full grown adult you need to learn to be straight forward with people. You can’t just be passive aggressive all the time to someone who doesn’t seem to understand social cues especially. I understand the discomfort with living with a man that is older than you and that you don’t know well but they way the talk about him gives me major mean girl vibes.
I never got along with my college roommates. There was a huge fight my junior year of college with those roommates about the trash and cleanliness of the place (them not doing it) and then my senior year everything was fine for like half a semester til the two girls decided they just wanted to do petty shit in the freezer moving people’s stuff around and the girl I shared a bathroom with kept pushing my stuff on the sink (on my side) like I swear there was only a tissue box in the middle anyone and everyone could’ve used. I’m so glad I don’t have to have roommates anymore. I can’t imagine rooming with a man I didn’t know 🤯

No one should have to endure unsolicited conversation, interruptions of personal space, or “compliments” (telling women they’re pretty and can cook isn’t a compliment). Anyone who is like “What’s wrong with you two?!?” .... ??? What’s wrong with you?? Have you never had a random roommate?? There are clear things that someone who is trying to live with others needs to understand, and it’s NO ONE ELSES job to teach someone that.
But it IS someone's job to use direct and straight forward words when you share living space with a person who can't read social ques and body language..

@@jesselaine8 well, life is uncomfortable in general, one needs to get over themselves, learn how to deal with emotions in constructive way and try to make it work, especially when you share living space. The first thing girls point out in the video is that their roommate couldn't read body language and social ques. But never in their story did they tell him a straight forward "NO!" - "No, we don't want you to join our yoga practice" or "No, we want to have some time alone while drinking our tequila" or "No, I don't have time to listen to your story right now, I just came here to grab some ketchup, see you" or simple "No, nothing,I'm talking to my sister right now" etc. They just kept trying to be "nice by not saying straight NO and hoping for the miracle to happen" (as you pointed out) and communicated with him through their body language and social ques over and over again. It's like to keep showing images to a blind person and getting weirded out that they can't see them. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that the whole uncomfortable part of their experience with the roommate could've been avoided. Btw there are women with ASD as well, just saying...

That's a big worry of mine especially living in an expensive city where it does helps to have someone extra pitching in for rent....worse when you don't know them or their history :( sorry you ladies where in that situation. Being young and on your own now a days is low-key high-key scary sometimes you never know with people but you two are aware and know whats up. its also great you both have an awesome relationship and can count on each other

@@carissajane485 No I don't, but I worked with people on ASD, and the inability to recognize/understand socially appropriate behaviors, need to communicate with words (constant storytelling) and inability to realize when to draw the line in storytelling at the same time, the main subject of the conversations being about the storyteller's experiences and interests only (that's why those conversations seem always too long and boring for the other party), being confused about how deposit/rent work, being not bothered by surrounding mess and even bugs (due to naive "if you don't cook, you don't have to do dishes/cleaning"), being unable to find anything in a tiny room with only 2 pieces of furniture, extremely sensitive hearing (all these "ah?your girls talking to me?" even when they were talking across the room or behind the wall), plus a grown up man being talked into using drugs for some possible info on his ex - all of it is typical case of someone on high functioning end of ASD. The whole story speaks of uncomfortable situations created by misunderstanding/miscommunication only (he never tried to be physical in any way with the girls).

Some male roommates might be awkward seeing you walking around in your underwear. If you do and they see you, "that's not walking over your boundaries." Put clothes on before strutting around the rest of the house, if others seeing you in underwear makes you uncomfortable.
