I've just installed one of these. Seeing all the comments around extending it I thought it best to figure that bit out first.

I have just successfully adjusted one of these valves in situ. It is not intuitive how to do it and quite awkward. It was made much easier in my case because the separate flush mechanism, I accidentally discovered, twisted anti-clockwise and could be removed. This made access to the fill valve better but still not easy. What you have to do is remove the little, grey plastic clip, by pushing it down. It is held in place by friction on the outer casing below the float chamber. Hang onto it to be replaced later. With this clip removed you can now rotate the fill valve. Twist it 90 degrees anti-clockwise. In my case it was a bit of a squeeze, and by gently forcing it I was suddenly able to pull the top portion of the valve up, thereby raising the float chamber and so increasing the volume of water in the cistern, which was my intent. Success. Now twist the fill valve back to where it was, clockwise. Awkwardly replace the little grey clip, which simply stops the fill valve from moving. Replace the flush mechanism and test the flush. I also had to raise the internal overflow pipe, which could be raised up very easily. Job done.

Just installed it, a decent valve does the job. Just make sure you set the height pre installation, I had to undo it because the idiot that I am installed it at its default setting.

It lasted perhaps 18 months before failing to shut off water. No amount of scale cleaner made any difference. Just when you thought it was OK again, and flow stopped, flow started up again without having flushed or done anything and kept on until cistern overflow flooded the yard outside. Replaced with a Fluidmaster400 from Screwfix, and is a far better design, albeit the bottom shaft is not brass but plastic. Advisable to use a pair of grips on the shaft to make the final closure, to keep the top from rotating in the cistern.

I'm having one of these fitted this morning after the old one failed to make a good seal. The price is right and the unit looks well made. I will report back later today (Friday 06/10/2017) to give my views on the item.

Easy to fit with no leaks underneath the cistern but lacks an anti-syphon/backflow-preventer valve so had to swap it for a Fluid master with a built-in air-gap from the water feed.

all sounds good, however if the inlet valve fails , and you have to fit a new one, you remove tiles to undo bottom nut unless your have left an access panel.. otherwise great valve.

Pointless clip, just like the instructions that come with it. Then again what else can we expect from Screwedup?

  • @dannyzee4

Can't be adjusted without uninstalling, so you're at the whim of whoever installs it, unless you go buy the tools and learn how to take it off and reinstall it yourself. Stupid product.
