I have kept my grandmother’s Pyrex pieces in boxes in storage. No family members want it because it’s old. They don’t realize its value! Definitely will try the cake as I have a can of pumpkin left over from Thanksgiving! Blessings!

I bought some Easter egg dyes today at the store. I use them to dye papers for my journals. Regularly they were $1.00 a package, today they were on clearance for .10 each. I got three packages and was so happy. Craft supplies at the major craft stores are astronomical! Enjoyed your video so much.

I wish I had kept my moms Pyrex I’m 77 and my 55 year old daughter is collecting it now. Of course she’s spending a lot more than what my mom paid for it. Old things are new again.

Thank you for this video. Your wisdom is a huge blessing to me. I need to hear your thoughts on living frugally because you're so right. The next time I want to indulge a need that's outside my budget, I'll definately remember our priorities and remember to wait. If we wait, we usually get over it, find an alternative or find the item cheaper. I'm so thankful I found your channel as I head into retirement. I've been nervous about our smaller income but you're helping me to see that we can live a simpler lifestyle and within our means.

Always love your ideas. My mom used to make all her cakes from scratch and she made a spice cake with homemade icing. I have yet to come across her recipes, she passed in 2019. This video reminds me of similar cake. Also, that flea market is HUGE! I went a couple years ago. My brother actually lives down the road a bit from it and complains about all the traffic on flea market days lol.

Love the Pyrex wear. My daughter is collecting the butterprint. But I’m with you it was priced to high. At a local thrift store that keeps babies out of the system while mom is in prison. I will go 2 to3 times a month. I found a couple of pieces here that were a good price. For myself I found a set of clear Pyrex mixing bowls brand new for 4 dollars. A month later found another set not in as good of condition for 14 dollars. They stayed behind. My daughter is into 50’s 60’s kitchen wear. In the beautiful blue like your canisters. Will have to try the cake it looked very yummy. God bless you Emmy and Paul.

You are so right! My son is growing like a week. He wears a lot of like khaki pants and needed to go up a size. So we looked for sales (thank you JCP!) 2 pair's for $13. Yes, I may have found cheaper at a thrift store, but we're still trying to social distance. Really only go out for grocery shopping.

Emmy- just wanted to share with you since it’s relevant to this video-I went to a garage sale this morning-I got so many nice clothes for my two year old and they were 25 cents a piece!!
Also I was able to pick up some toys and educational items for him for a few dollars! I’m pretty happy with my bargain finds today!!

Ah, flea markets. As a former seller I would like to advise buyers, if possible, to try to compare prices at as many booths as you can. Another tip if you see what you like at a booth where it doesn't fit in with the rest of the inventory you will have a better chance at bargaining. Great Summer fun!

A few years ago I visited a few flea markets however I rarely found what I wanted or needed for a good price, I prefer garage sales!!

I've also made the pumpkin spice cake with just the pumpkin and it was good with a dollop of cool whip on top. It reminded me a lot of gingerbread.

I am glad you showed us another side of the state of New York. I always think yellow cabs and hot dog stands. $55 for a Pyrex butter dish? No thank you. I loved the cake and will probably end up making it too. Learned how to make caramel topping too.

Now you need to look for the 4 little red salad bowls that go with your new purchase. You can use the pumpkin with any flavor cake mix. Plain pumpkin has little flavor. This was an old Weight Watchers recipe.

i visited NY state once ( I live in TN) and it was truly gorgeous. I was near Rochester. I'm not sure where you are, but I just thought it was really one of the prettiest places I have ever been and thought folks were so nice! I'd love to come back!

I have visited a few shops here in Maine this year and was rather shocked at how high the prices have become. I wondered if they were trying to make up for the time they had to be closed. Needless to say, i did not purchase anything at those prices. The good deals are at yard sales and some thrift shops i think. Have a blessed week. That cake looked amazing!!!

MUAH Dixie! I've been to the Stormville flea market. It's only 28 miles from me - a 35 minute ride. I have long time friend (since Jr. high school) who lives in Stormville. That's too bad their prices are ridiculous now. I always have to tell people online that when I say I live in NY, I don't live in NYC. I live in countryside too. Many out of area people think NY is only about NYC. Red pyrex,,,great find! Holy crap, they wanted $55 for that butter dish! Those pyrex prices were ridiculous. Flea markets sure aren't what they used to be. Yardsales are so much better. The cake looks so good and so easy! Enjoy your videos so much. Watch out Paul, she's feeling spicey! lol

Totally enjoy watching when you gift cook meals for your in-laws (excellent gift). Can you show every month the complete meal you make them, how you package it? Do you prefer aluminum foil, Saran Wrap, Wax paper. If you probably know already, but if not check out “my great challenge vlog”. She collects and has an array of Pyrex. When I retired I gave away all my Pyrex, I just found them to be to heavy.

Honestly I would have given the $10 for the Pyrex - still a great deal. Not really a collector of anything anymore, am downsizing. These days I'm happier when I'm getting rid of stuff. 🙂 Looked like a fun place to look around though.

I love my Pyrex...most have been gifts over the years. The cake looks scrumptious! Any ideas for a frosting that has less sugar...hubby is a diabetic

You could try monkfruit or erythritol 'sugar's, it doesn't spike glucose at all while adding sweetness. It's a cup for cup replacement for sugar. You could just get the powdered version and sprinkle on top, or even use it to make a buttercream. I personally haven't used it for that yet, but I do like it and used it to make mousse before. It doesn't have an aftertaste but it does have a cooling effect, so adjust to taste
There's this recipe that might work with that and it's not as sweet.
INGREDIENTS
• 5 Tablespoons flour
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 cup butter (2 sticks, room temperature)
• 1 cup granulated white sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
• In a small saucepan, whisk flour into milk and heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens. It took me around 5 minutes. Be careful not to burn it. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. You can place the saucepan over ice in the sink for about 10 minutes or so until the mixture cools if you are in a hurry. Stir in vanilla. This mixture must be completely cooled in order for the frosting to work.
• While the mixture is cooling, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Then add the cooled milk/flour/vanilla mixture and beat until it all combines and resembles whipped cream. Make sure you scrape down the sides every so often so that it all gets incorporated and whipped. If it's not looking like whipped cream, keep on whipping. This frosting is great for piping. Best served the same day.

(My best find ever was the Pyrex Eyes bowls for 6 dollars! ) I got them probably 10 years ago and didn’t even know they were kinda rare! 😉The prices for Pyrex have really gone up in recent years but the thrill of the hunt is still fun once in a while.

We don't have these Pyrax products in Germany. Why are they so expensive? Are they expensive in the first place or because they are old, or especially good to use?
They are all vintage. I think also because they are no longer made in the colored/pattererned form. They are highly collectable.
