Great video, so easy and much better than lots of others out there. Replacing all my AC parts in my 2007 dodge, condenser, compressor, accumulator and evap core. literally 1 days work and mechanics were trying to get me for thousands
Thank you for your comment and for your support. Feel free to check out my other videos for this truck including condenser, accumulator and other ones: ua-cam.com/play/PL3GPOzl4aAfkIlu5RKDsPmZH90s6lABY3.html
As a mechanic, let me just say, when you have that many bolts securing a part, don't tighten any, even hand tight, until they're all started. Once they're started, put the lines on and tighten them, then tighten all the bolts, then attach connectors.
Thank you for your comment. I just started all with the thread by hand after that tighten it up with the ratchet. It is the best way to go if not you can damaged the threads… thanks.
Good video, will help a lots of people to try this. At 9 minutes you were having a hard time getting it to come out, the long bolt that goes in that bracket that lets it swivel up and out also pulls a small steel sleeve up into that far alumiun ear, take and drive that steel sleeve back toward the engine a little. The compressor will fall out. A lots of alternators use the same bolt and sleeve methods.
Damn foo ,thank you so much for your help,I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 that needed a new ac compressor, accumulator, and a condenser motor fan and you helped me on all three, bro you are a chingon and hope you upload more videos like these man, you’re awesome G ,you helped me so much, god bless carnal
You’re welcome, I’m glad you found these videos helpful. This truck is my wife’s truck and has 305,000+ miles and still running like a champ. Your next thing to do- spark plugs and oil change. Thank you for your comment and for your support. Stay safe and healthy.
Good shit man I like how you explained all this. Getting ready to maybe tackle it on my truck I don't know yet though. Just refilled it and nothing, might have to hit a shop for this one. My clutch on the compressor is shot I think, it's always on.
Have you try recharging your A/C? You might be low on refrigerant. Try this: disconnect/ unplug the electrical connector on your A/C Compressor and see if it disengages- if it does it's working fine and if it doesn't there's something wrong with the clutch/ compressor.
Good video, i have done repairs myself and will say this takes alot of money off giving to mechanics that will go by a computer screen program to tell you what it should take of hours and labor. Thanks for the video my guy give me my confidence back
Hey bro, why do you need to remove the refrigerant from the lines first? I’m about to do this job in the next day or so and my truck hasn’t had a:c in two years. Unfortunately, I don’t have a friend with a machine to do this and trying to keep costs low. Is it a matter of keeping things clean or is it vital to doing the job?
Great question. It’s just for safety reasons and so the refrigerant will not be out everywhere where others can breathe the chemicals which is not good for your health. You can loosen both lines (bolts) slowly and this will let out the refrigerant. Be sure to be away while this is letting out the refrigerant. Will need to recharge your AC system. I also have other videos where I recharge the AC and changed the motor fan for cooling system (fan not engaging) now I have cold AC. Best of luck to you.
I appreciate the quick response my man. I’ll be sure to check out more of your videos. And thanks for al the advice and the video itself. Made the job look pretty easy
Hey, question- Im just changing out the coolant temp sensor thats under the air compressor tomorrow. Do I need to disconnect the refrigerant in my case? I dont need to replace the air compressor. Thanks!
I just took a looked at the Temperature Sensor and it is really in a tight spot... 1. Disconnect negative battery terminal-Removed your belt. 2. Loosen your AC compressor bolts 3. Disconnect your ac compressor electrical connections. I don’t think you’ll have to disconnect your AC refrigerant lines - just disconnect your electrical connections and you should be able to wiggle/ move around the AC Compressor out of the way... Best of luck.
Oreilly Auto Parts- has a recharge hose for $22.99 and it works great. Don’t use the refrigerant that “seals leaks” because those will damaged your A/C system
My compressor is kicking on and off at idle with AC on max. No cold air at idle. Once I get to about 20mph it stays on and blows cold. Is the compressor getting weak or should I consider another issue? Had fan replaced and system recharged last year without any change.
Which fan? There’s two fans on this truck. Have you checked your A/C Condenser Motor Fan? Check this video out: ua-cam.com/video/7J871E6KMRg/v-deo.html
Hey man Hope you can help me I have a 2003 dodge ram When I connect the can with the refill it says I have 0 pressure. After filling it up it stays until I turn on the ac Then it falls down to 0 pressure withing a couple seconds again Can that be the compressor ? Because then I try to replace it in the next couple days
Your A/C has to be Turn On and on MAX, A/C when you connect your Refrigerant. Does your A/C Compressor engages (spins)? Does your A/C Condenser Motor fan engages (spin)? A/C Condenser Motor Fan: ua-cam.com/video/GDdEw-Jbusg/v-deo.html
Hey man ! I have a question. I own a 06 ram 5.7 it hasn’t had ac for years. But when it did it blew cold. I’m guessing it had a leak. One day I decided to go to Walmart and forgot to measure the ounces so I think I over charged it. Killing the ac clutch. Also When I turn on the ac. It smells horrible like chemicals so I’m guessing it’s a ac evaporator core leak behind the dashboard. My questions is. I’m getting ready to spend a lot of money. New ac compressor new lines. New drier. New new condenser and new evaporator core. Should I pull a vacuum on the system ? Or it wouldn’t work ? I don’t want the new parts to get contaminated or whatever else can happen if I just replace instead of removing everything. The truck has zero Freon ! Ac clutch doesn’t work. It doesn’t spin. Any tips ? Also or do you think putting new parts should be fine ? I’m glad I found your videos man ! I helped out so much !!!
@@EastonBrazzell do you know how many ounces of pan oil and can I add it to the line ? I don’t have any fancy gauges and I can rent the vacuum from autozone to pull it for a hour make sure no leaks. I heard good things about the ac pro extreme 22oz refrigerant
Cristian Iniguez Right on, ok check the connections (electrical connection- try to connect the new one to your harness) if they are the same as the old/ original AC compressor. If they don’t match it’s most likely not the right AC Compressor. The new AC Compressor should fit in without any struggle.
I have two 10mm nuts left over. I can't figure out where they would have come from. The three on the bracket got reinstalled and everything seems to be working fine. Beats the hell outta me where they came from though.
Yes, absolutely... if your AC compressor engages it should be working ... you might just be low on refrigerant. Thank you for your comment and for your support.
The place where you purchased your compressor might have given you the wrong compressor. It should not be that difficult to go in- the auto part had given me the wrong compressor so I had to take it back and get the correct compressor.
@RookieRepairs I haven't got one yet. Just wondering because I had to pry it out. Was wondering if you had to pound it in gently lol. Mine comes knowledge can I just pour it in pog 46 8 oz
Hola amigo tengo que cambiar el compressor de camioneta es una 2003 ram nececito sacar la precion de las lines que esta conectado al compressor si responder grasias
7:17 That bolt in the rear is absolutely useless, I really don't know why Dodge put it there, it does absolutely nothing. I remember 11 years ago when I had to replace the coolant pump on my 2005 Dodge Ram it involved moving the AC compressor out of the way to get access to a couple bolts on the coolant pump. The Haynes repair manual did not mention that third bolt in the back and I ended up using a crowbar to try and loosen the compressor after I only took out the two main bolts. I ended up cracking the compressor and all the coolant leaked out costing me a new compressor and new coolant recharge. It's really baffling how Dodge would actually spend money putting in an extra third bolt where it's not needed but yet they would undersize the pinion nut that holds the drive shaft to the rear differential causing catastrophic drivetrain failure and a super expensive recall.
I like how he says "ONE LAST BOLT" "ONE MORE BOLT AND YOUR DONE" Also you never inspected and or you should replace the O=rings on the refrigerant lines!! ya GOOF
