Amen. Let me start this with, You saw this is for what it actually is. You were extremely articulate. And, I could tell you knew what you knew. Amazing reaction. Growing up where, and how, I did, in my personal life, I have physically seen both sides of this story. Both the Truths and the Stereotypes. I was the minority in my neighborhood and I saw, at the time, there were 2 things that young black men focused on. Rap Culture. And, Sports Culture. Because one or the other was gonna get you out of that hood. A handful of them fell into the third category, Gang Culture. Then you had an even smaller amount fall into a fourth category, Education. And every single person I knew back then understood why each person picked the category they chose, including myself. All any of us could do, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, is whatever we could to try to get out. I caught a lucky break. My baby brother (12 years younger than me) wasn't so lucky. I ended up out in the country for my last 2 years of High School. Seeing rich white kids trying to act like their from the ghetto pissed me off. The only way to understand this life is to actually live it. People, so many times say, "I thought..." or, "I didn't know..." And, it's true. A lot of people DON'T "know". They don;t know what it's like to have a dealer threatening to blow up the house at 11pm because they think someone in the house is a rat. They don't know what it's like to have your toys pawned so that your parents can get a fix, or pay someone back. There's a lot of "Don't knows" in this world, and people are too afraid to talk about it because, "It ain't nobody's business." (I'm guilty of this myself) I'm sorry for the rant man, I'm gonna see myself out.
