My husband's birthday is today. When our son was about 3, he was watching his dad open gifts and naturally wanted to open his own. I told him Daddy is the only one who gets to open gifts on Christas Eve so he went to the tree and gathered gifts with his own name on the tag and brought them to Dad. Ah, the logic of a child is perfect!
Thank you for all the joy of this Advent series; it has been fun, and so lovely to Sit and Knit for a Bit with you both each day, working on the beautiful Christmas stocking as I listened to your stories. Dearest Arne and Carlos, you two have literally been the best discovery for me in 2023 - I knew of you before but having become a member and getting to join you and learning to up my knitting skills with colorwork and stranded knitting have truly been life changing and it creates so much hope and anticipation for 2024. Thank you dearly for the Advent stocking gift. It has made every one of the past 24 days that much more magical and creates real light in my heart. Safe travels and happy holidays! ❤

I poured my first mug of coffee, opened my computer and there you were smiling and laughing and making us all feel welcome. I went out each day in my pajamas to check on the remaining vegetables and felt so grateful to you both. What a delightful team you are. Happy Holidays - I hope your parents enjoy the visit. Doesn't matter if your mom remembers the next day, if you made her smile today.
That last sentence is a brilliant way of thinking about it.
Happy Christmas Eve!!🎄❄️☃️❄️ so very much appreciate you both!! It's been such a wonderful daily visit this Advent and I truly enjoyed all the laughter, sweet memories + crafting education! The colors for the Advent candles in some areas are based in the history of religion and special days for each Advent Sunday. In Catholic faith, it is a ring not a stand with Purple , Purple, Pink , Light Purple, for the Sundays and a White candle in the center of the ring on Christmas day.
The all white is beautiful, too, and meaningful it it's history. 💜

Our candles for Advent in Australia are purple, representing hope, peace, joy (pink candle) and love in that order. Lastly, we add a white candle representing the Light of the World and the gift of God, His Son, Jesus. The candles can be in a line or set into a circular wreath, we have done each in our church. I love the tradition and also the song that goes with it - each week a new verse is added until the last week where you sing the whole song. Thank you for a year filled to the brim with variety and fun. I have travelled the world with you, learned about insect motels and watched your garden progress through the seasons - so foreign to us! I hope you have a wonderful time with Carlos' parents, and return next year refreshed and rearing to go! Stay safe and take care.

I, too, am sad this daily feast of A-C is ending. It’s been a pleasure to see you each day. I didn’t manage to knit along this month as other pressing knitting projects took precedence (!) but I plan to work on it during the dark days of January! In I think yesterday’s (or the day before?) knit along, you mentioned about the upkeep on your 1968 beetle. A def classic to cherish! In the mid 1950’s my mother bought a 1953 (I think) beetle from a neighbor who couldn’t get the hang of it. That car was definitely an oddity to many people at the time but we loved it! No gas gauge, no choke, but it did have a thing you could flip on to give you a few miles of gas. And its directional signals were orange flippers by the doors that were quite fun.
It was the car I learned to drive with (my mother started me early at age 12!). That car was part of the family and driven for some 25 years (and yep with plenty of visits to the mechanic). Then my mother sold it to a friend who fixed it up for his daughter. My mother was happy to see it still being driven but she did miss that quirky wonderful 1953 beetle. I missed it, too.

I enjoyed making the Christmas stocking so much. And when you showed yours, mine looked exactly like it so I know I did it right and I was clapping for myself. I had always wished for one of your Christmas stockings, and I am so glad I jumped at the chance to join this knit-along. This was a fabulous idea! It was really fun to sit with you both every day and patiently wait for our clue. The laughs I had!
I loved the idea of slowly knitting a project that would reveal itself bit by bit. There's an important lesson there, that much can be done just a bit at a time.

Thank you. Visiting with you every afternoon has been absolutely delightful. I always make rommegrot on Christmas Eve for the Nisse. I always envision the Nisse playing outside in the snow on Christmas Eve Day and then, after an active day, coming in beside the fire and hanging up their wet clothes, including their stockings. I was inspired to cross stitch on perforated paper the Nisse's clothes hanging on the line. The stocking pattern I used was inspired by the stocking patterns in one of your books. May your Christmas be beautiful and starry, filled with the lights of the North.

I love learning about the different traditions and how the candles are different colors on different days in Norway and Sweden. I was raised Catholic and only knew to light candles on the Sundays of Advent. The 1st 3 are purple, and the last Sunday you light all 3 purple and 1pink candle. The stocking turned out beautifully. (1st YT video 2015)

I love Fanny and Alexander -- what a wonderful film, We celebrate on Christmas Eve and relax and enjoy our gifts on Christmas Day. Thank you for this beautiful KAL gift. It's inspired me to knit every day again and I already have a few projects in mind. Your warmth and sweetness bring more than joy to the world, they bring love and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this Christmas more special than it has been in ages. I am the primary caregiver for my mentally ill son and feel deeply for you and the many people I know with beloved parents suffering from dementia and other serious illnesses. Bless you and all the very best for 2024 P.S. My daughter insists that this is the stocking she will fill for me this year!
2015 you started the channel almost at the end of that year. Hope you have a wonderful time both with your mother but especially with your father Carlos❤. It is usually the partner that suffers the most, he will miss your mother terribly. So ofcourse you spend some days with him. And Arne is there as well , he supports you and it will perhaps not be what you are used to, but you make the effort to make it well enough for your father and that is the real spirit of Christmas. In the Church, purple is a liturgical color used for Advent leading up to Christmas, and for Lent leading up to Easter. ❤️
