How is there not a 30 for 30 about Rickey? He’s by far the #1 pick if you’re assembling an all time team. He’s the greatest ever.
My dads favorite player
@@Gala_tha_Prince Mine and My grandfather's as well. We would bet nickels on which pitch Rickey would take off on.
There’s an hour documentary on here called “How Rickey Henderson became a legend” it’s pretty good. He definitely has some stories lol
Run Rickey run. 30 for 30
@@gregcross4300 wrong Rickey
I would love to see a Ricky Hendrson movie with Jamie Foxx as the lead.
Jamie foxx could play rickey now not as a player
Good idea
Rickey has been my favorite player since I was a kid.....love every new story I hear.
I am ALWAYS down for a new Rickey story
This Canadian, along with just about every Blue Jays fan, were enarmoured of Joe Carter and, still think he's the best thing since sliced bread!!
Rickey was my favorite growing up as a kid. Didn’t realize until I was older what a character he was.
Just listening to these iconic players brought a smile to my face😀. Great job Rich.
Joe Carter should be at least considered to be in the HOF, he had a great career
Rickey Henderson…. The forgotten Goat. Get them on, get them over, get them in. He is the undisputed KING of all 3! UNDISPUTED!!!
Now that Willie Mays has died. Big discussion about who the greatest player is. I am very disappointed that Rickey isn't getting talked about there.
living ball player
Rickey is a tremendously _overrated_ ballplayer. Had he tried 100% of the time, he would absolutely be in the GOAT conversation. But he slacked off frequently, driving teams nuts, which is why he changed teams every couple of years. For example, if he wanted the team to rip up his contract - the one he'd agreed to - and pay him more, he'd purposely play lousy baseball until they gave him more millions. Often they traded him instead. (The Mets actually released him for that reason, in the middle of the season.) Rickey also enjoyed showing off with his "snap catch", and then he would drop a fly ball and have to stop...for a few weeks, then start again. He also hit very, very few triples, because he preferred to take a comfortable double, then pad his stats by stealing third. He was a head case, disliked by many teammates.
Carter should get more HoF attention, guy averaged 29 home runs and 107 runs batted in over a 12 year period.
Blue Jays definitely should retire his number.
@@joemckim1183 29 and 37 should've been retired too, but the level of excellence will have to do.
@@bubbabear244 Robbie 's #12 is the only one retired so far.
No, Joe was a great player but if Carlos Delgado doesn't get in, no one does.
He helped them win back to back world series @@NormAppleton
Man, I loved that series. Thankfully I witnessed it live as a kid. One of the best series ever! Rickey, Joe Carter, Alomar, Guzman & his grease, Molitor, Stewart! Priceless!
Hahahaha Rickey Henderson was a trip! What a character! Always one of my favorite players. Joe Carter was always such a class act. Definitely needs to be in the HoF. Carter's home run and the Batista bat flip are the source of countless arguments in bars across Toronto to this day. I still go with the Carter home run. You are legend, Joe Carter!
9 million??? That's probably what the ball boy/girls make. 😂
Joe was one of the few bright spots in Cleveland when he played there!! Great part of my childhood
Ricky remains one of my favorite players to watch.
I was fortunate to attend Jays games ( including some World Series games) and most Canadians in my age group ( sixties ) would say that Carter is beloved and that his WS winning homer is one of the greatest moments in Canadian sports. Even without that moment he would still be beloved because he was everything you wanted in a representatve of your team ( humble , talented, kiind, always came to play).
I could remeber when I was 6 years old and watching Joe Carter hit that homerun, been a jays fan ever since, Thank you Joe Carter!
My favorite Ricky Henderson story. It was 1995 and my parents took me to Spring Training in Arizona. I was talking to Ricky when he was warming up in the outfield. Then my mom came over to get me so we could make it to the SF Giants game. Then Ricky Flexed his muscles at my mom. I was not happy about it. But what the hell was I going to do about it, I was 12 and he was “Ricky Freaking Henderson”. As I got older the story got funnier, but initially I hated him with the fire of a thousand suns.
LOL. You're Mom was a babe, eh?
If yes, you really can't blame Rickey for flirting w/her.😂
I love Rickey almost as much as Rickey loves Rickey. 😂
I couldn't get enough of Rickey!
I've always heard that $1M check story as being the Yankees. 🤷♂
It was, Joe's Rickey stories are second hand and factually incorrect[ The Olerud story didn't happen, made a good story, but not true]
I literally just watched a video of him on a radio show admitting it was on the A's
Rickey being Rickey 😂😂😂 what a character 👏
Everyone - you gotta get Rickey's book - OFF BASE: Confessions of a Thief" LOVE that book!
then there's Rickey on the team bus and a teammate says, "Ricky, you can sit wherever, you've got tenure." To which Rickey replies, "What?? I've been playing 17 years."
If I were Olerud, I wouldn't even tell him and just starting asking Rickey questions about that Toronto teammate.
🤣🤣
That story about Rickey and John Olerud is just too good, not only do you have to be a clueness narcissist to not remember you won a World Series with that guy, but also living in your own cave so hard you don't realize the unique fact about Olerud in the first place, that he was the only player in the league to wear a helmet all the time.
Rickey is hilarious, what a guy !
It’s not true. Completely made up.
We don’t tolerate backhanded Rickey Henderson slick talk in this chat. You’ll get the taste slapped out your mouth quicker than Rickey taking second base on a steal.
"Puckett, right?"
That's some quality interviewin right there
😂😂😂😂 I ❤❤❤ The first title up in toronto until the raptors.
THATS RIGHTBLEAF FANS. 1967 was so long ago everyone is forgetting
3 year 9 mil 😩😩😩 those contracts were so small
Rickey changed games in ways you couldnt measure
Babe Ruth was paid 125k for a movie about himself he starred in. He carried the check around and showed it off for months. When he went to cash it, it bounced because the company went out of business.
How long was the check on the wall? If a check is 6 months old, it is stale dated.
East OKC finest !
Ricky in the 3rd Person eh!
The Olerud helmet story is false. Both Rickey and Olerud have said that it never happened.
When you make your all-time lineup, and RH isn't your leadoff, you don't know baseball.
Joe is a little inaccurate. In November 1989 rickey henderson negotiated a 4 year $12 million dollar deal with oakland. Which was the biggest deal in mlb history at the time. Someone else surpassed rickeys contract just a few days later and I think it was Puckett.
Meanwhile the maple laughs last won in 1967 when there were 12 teams in the whole league lol. Blow leafs Blow
This is true
Man. Remember Fred McGriff
I don't think the Ricky-Olerud story is true... It was a story made up by Robin Ventura... believable though
Kirby. How many other Kirbys are there?
Deion sanders would have won mvp of that series if braves won he bat over .500 5 stolen bases at 15 times at the plate
Different series. 1993 was between the Blue Jays and Phillies and that's the one Carter ended with a home run.
@@richstrobel thanks for the correction ❤️
Rickey get's very little credit for how much he affected pitchers and got them to make mistakes to his teammates at bat. He took up a lot of space in their heads and they grooved pitches or made mistakes to a lot of hitters. Laugh at him for all the stories, but the man was a genius on the ball field.
You must not be paying attention ⚾
No love for Toronto FC from Rich
The Olerud story is NOT true.
Rich sucks.
